Audio/Video:
The video was excellent, with vibrant colors and no graininess that I noticed. Most of the music in it is quite nice and well matched, with the exception of a hideous vocal that was playing during the first male/female scene. Gawd, that was awful, and seemed totally out of place. There's no talking other than Sasha's occasional narration and less than resonant voiceovers.

The Movie:

What can I say about Zazel that hasn't already been said? Probably not much, but I noticed that it hasn't been reviewed yet this year, so it might be a good time to dust this one off.

I complain about the lack of variety and freshness in porn, and how any 'creativity' seems to be limited to how many objects or penises can be crammed into various female orifices.

Therefore, I DO appreciate the effort and style that went into Zazel, hence the high rating. This could've been a GREAT movie, but falls short in several key areas, in my opinion.

The story isn't important, but here's a synopsis -Zazel (played by Sasha Vinni) is hired to develop a new perfume, so she starts out sampling the local flora in her quest for the ultimate 'scent of love'. As we all know, the female vagina bears a strong resemblance to many flowers, and like a Georgia O'Keefe painting come to life, Zazel probes and prods several in her search.

Erotic imagery is used in an attempt to evoke the most basic primordial lust in us. Do female homosapiens emit a certain scent when we're 'in heat' like other animals? I don't know, but the thought makes me grin. It sure would make it easier on the males if we did, don't you think?
I do know that we're unique in our ability to orgasm, despite any discernable need for this amazing trait to evolve. Not that porn, or even Philip Mond, cares.

The spell is broken for me rather quickly by the sight Lene Hefner's silicone implants, however. This stupid oversight annoyed me immensely. A glaring reminder that not only are we still in Kansas, we are doomed to be stuck forever in plastic Porno World, by people who must be so used to these, that they don't give it a second thought.

It's beautifully filmed in a lush tropical setting by an essential body of water, from which rises a woman covered with bright blue body paint. Why he chose blue I don't know. I would have gone with a more natural color, maybe a green, but it's still well done and interesting. There's just not enough going on here to justify dragging it out for 15 long minutes.

Although it has a few warm moments, for the most part the women's overdone affectations and the committment to style over substance put it in a class similar to Andrew Blake's. Which isn't bad if you're a male, at least you have beautiful if vapid women to admire, but I'm left admiring the scenery and eventually, my watch.

These highly touted centerfold models don't go near a dick, and make lousy lesbians. There's far too many shots of half-hearted cunnilingus, tepid scenes that go on and on, but lead nowhere.
Even so, in this primitive setting where you see tigers mating, I was starting to feel those animal urges, and hungered for some meat - which brings me to my other complaint. There's precious little pork for us carnivores, and way too much artificially sweetened 'lesbianism lite'.

In the last scene, Zazel dreams of a half ram, half she-devil who waddles around like she has something stuck up her butt. Oh wait.. that's her tail. At any rate, it's at this point that the infamous, cheap looking flames come into the picture.

I don't like to speculate on motives, visions or symbolism. It's more fun and usually more accurate to guess which mind-altering drugs may have been at work, so I'm gonna go with pot, cocaine, and psilocybin mushrooms here.

I do hope Zazel keeps searching for that ancient scent, however. I believe she's on the right track, but whatever she's smelling here makes me concerned for the survival of the species.
