Video Quality: Average. Nothing great, but nothing that stands out as being bad either. Please note that I watched this on my ten year old Sanyo 20" TV, so I can't be too objective about the video quality.
Audio Quality: Average. Once again, nothing special, but everything syncs well with the video.
Extras: Photo Gallery, Bios of the stars, 'multiple angles', trailers, and web link. There are an amazing number of trailers included and there are cast bios on almost every person in the movie. The 'multiple angles' is the typical Vivid style where they take you to another point in the scene rather than a different angle. In a few cases, you did switch to a different point of view, but not often. Also, the multiple angle option stays on throughout the entire movie. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in movies. If you aren't going to change my point of view, don't make it look like I have that option.
Review: Anthony Crane plays a pimp who is visited by a 'white angel' (Stacy Valentine dressed in all white). The angel questions him about why he does the things he does and how he does them. From there, we go through several scenes of Anthony's girls at work. The scenes range from the girls whom he just coaxes into prostitution to the girls who he's had in the business for quite a while.
Although the box calls it 'the finest example of a thinking man's porn' that explores how Anthony gets the girls to do what they do, it tends to fall more into the rut of a typical porno. There is very little development in Anthony turning the girls into prostitutes. The plot is also confusing in some parts. In addition to playing the white angel, Stacy Valentine plays Darla, one of the girls turned by Anthony in the first scene. She does a good job of playing the bimbo Darla, yet I have trouble seeing her play a spirit of judgement. Imagine Stacy playing one of the three ghosts in Dickens's Christmas Carol and you get the idea. It's never really explained why Darla and the white angel are the same person or even if they are. I think 'White Angel' would have been a lot better if somebody else would have played the angel, even if it was a non - sex role. Anthony Crane has a non - sex role, so it wouldn't seem too out of place.
On the plus side, the sex is very well done, although not exactly couples friendly. Every scene is a group scene of some kind. There is even a gang bang with Candy Apples. I had not seen one of Candy's scenes before, and with the excellent job she does I will be looking for her in the future. Chloe and Stacy also give their normal above average performance. Perhaps the biggest surprise is Anthony Crane's acting. He does an excellent job playing a complete slime ball. From the first time you see him, you don't like him, yet you're drawn into how he can get the girls to be prostitutes with his personality. Over time we see what drove him to become what he is, yet we never really see how he works his magic on the girls. It's kind of like when you see women get pulled over for speeding. They bat their eyes and get let go in much the same way he bats his eyes to turn the girls into prostitutes.
Overall: 'White Angel' slightly disappointed me by claiming to be intelligent and ending up as your average porno. 'White Angel' is saved by Anthony Crane's performance combined with very well done sex. Also, the bio section of the extras is one of the best I have seen.
