Synopsis:
Aspiring writer Billy (Chris Cannon) heads off from the farm to Hollywood to try and make it big leaving his girlfriend Annie (April) behind. He ends up becoming an apartment manager and starts becoming interested in the girl next door (Jezebelle Bond).

Audio/Video:
Vixxen is presented with an English 2.0 Stereo track which works well for the material being presented here. The sound levels for the sex scenes are louder than those in the plot portions, which can get annoying, but it's not bad enough to ruin the viewing experience. The dialog is clear and easy to hear at all times during the film. Adam & Eve hasn't included any foreign language tracks or subtitle options for the feature film.

Vixxen is presented in the full screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1, which is the original aspect ratio for the film. The picture is in good shape sporting bright vivid colors and a nice clear picture free from blemishes, artifacts and glitches. The background definition does get lost at some points during the film but this shouldn't bother the viewer too much. This isn't the best picture quality that Adam & Eve has turned out, but it is far from being the worst.

Special Features:
There are several extras included on the disc. There is a seventeen minute behind the scenes piece which consists of mostly interviews mixed with backstage and photo shoot bits. Unfortunately, the bit rate is set too low for the piece so there are pixels throughout. There are bios on all of the cast members, which include a short text write up and a picture. There is a nine-and-a-half minute bonus scene from The Merger with Becca Bratt, Lee Stone, and Steven St. Croix. There is a photo gallery with 20 stills on a track. Each is on its own chapter, so there is a pause between the stills. There are also trailers on the disc for The Puppeteer, Invisible, Emerald Rain, Sex Spell, X Girls, and Midsummer Nights Cream.

Disc Design/Navigation:
The disc design is nice sporting animated menus that have a short animation between them. The main chapter menu holds six chapters, which are identified by a video clip and the scene number within the film. Each of the main chapter menu selections brings you to a submenu that allows you, in addition to going to the beginning of the scene, to select from two to five additional chapter stops for the scene, which are identified by the sex act only. There are 26 chapter stops available within the film itself. There is a time code for the feature film encoded on the disc.

General Review:
Vixxen is a plot-based adult film but, unfortunately, the plot doesn't end up working out too well. The story itself is poorly constructed and seems to only exist to act as filler between the sex scenes. The acting in the film is rather bad and there are some horrible lines that made me cringe when I heard them. And interesting note though about the film is that it advocates monogamy, which is rare in adult films. This is not to say that the film is without merits, as it does have some rather unique ideas, I just wish that it had been developed further before being produced.

The production values of the film are decent. There are a considerable amount of nice exterior locations used in the film for both plot purposes and sex scenes, like the barn used for Chris and April's scene. The indoor locations are lacking for the most part though as they tend to be the nondescript indoor locations with just enough furniture to indicate what the room should be used for, which is way too heavily used in adult films these days. There are some nice camera angles mixed in with the standard ones, enough to bring the film slightly out of the rut that it is in.

The sex scenes look nice, but they are tamer than a lot of viewers are going to watch. Some of them appear to be lacking in heat as well, which kills them. There is a nice rather unique scene though where Jezebelle Bond is masturbating in the shower and Chris Cannon hears her and gets off in his shower. The sexual themes in the film are vaginal and anal sex with pussy eating (male to female and female to female), anilingus (male to female), lesbianism, blow jobs, pussy fingering (female to female), vaginal toy use, female masturbation, and male masturbation. For viewers that care about condom use, there are condoms used in all of the scenes.

Scene Synopsis:
The first scene brings us April and Chris Cannon and starts out with a blow job before going into the pussy eating. The scene concludes with some vaginal sex. The second scene brings us Aria and Lee Stone and starts out with a pussy eating and anilingus combination before going to the blow job. There is some vaginal sex, followed by some anal sex to conclude the scene. The third scene features Steven St. Croix and Jezebelle Bond and starts out with some pussy eating before going into the blow job. The scene concludes with some vaginal sex.

The fourth scene gives us Chris Cannon and Jezebelle Bond. Chris and Jezebelle are each alone in their showers and the scene switches back and forth to each masturbating. The fifth scene gives us Michelle Michaels and Kaylynn and includes pussy fingering, vaginal toy use and a little pussy eating mixed in. The sixth and final scene features Jezebelle Bond and Billy Glide and starts out with some pussy eating before going into the blow job. The scene concludes with some vaginal sex.

Parting Thoughts:
Vixxen tries to be more than your average adult movie but it never quite succeeds. The movie sports an erotic and different sex scene, some nice locations, and advocates monogamy, however, its lackluster plot pulls it down to average. Viewers who like tame sex may want to give this film a try, especially if they are fan of one or more of the stars but there are far better adult movies out there.
