Thrust (Ultimate) Review

Initial Expectations: I’ve heard fairly bad things about this, both from other reviewers and others who’s opinion I value. I enjoy both Stacy and Johnni so I’m hoping it isn’t as bad as I’ve heard.

Initial Reaction: It isn’t horrible, but it isn’t too great either.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is normally balanced fairly well but there are a few parts that are very unbalanced. There’s a slight grain to most of the video, but the bad lighting is the main problem.

Music: The music is the normal cheesy porno music and slightly overpowers the rest of the movie.

Review: Thrust revolves around the first female bomber pilot in the Air Force (Johnni Black) who’s facing a court martial because Stacy Valentine finds out that Johnni was having an affair with her husband (Mark Davis). It’s not a great plot, but it’s handled as most typical porno plots are and it never seems to think of itself as more than an excuse for people to fuck.

Stacy starts off Thrust showering but not going into any real masturbation. She makes up for this by doing the horizontal mambo with Mark Davis in their bedroom as soon as she leaves the bathroom. The audio really started this scene off on the wrong foot as there seemed to be some fun flirting going on between Stacy and Mark but I couldn’t make out any of it. The camera work was almost as bad for most of the scene. The angles were horrible and there were way too many bad close-ups. If it weren’t for Stacy’s constant charm and the chemistry between her and Mark the scene would have completely sucked. As it is, it’s almost a hot scene that should have been very hot.

Mark teams up with Johnni as soon as he gets to base. Johnni is busy training in a simulator (translation - video game at the arcade or maybe just a cheesy set). I’ve seen a lot better from both performers, but the lighting is the main problem here. There’s so many shadows that you can barely see what Johnni and Mark are doing. The scene is fairly amusing as Johnni keeps spouting off cheesy lines like ‘drop your bomb on my face’ before Mark sprays his population pudding all over her face. I wasn’t sure whether I should laugh or cry watching this scene.

After finding out that Mark’s cheating on her with Johnni, Stacy retaliates by screwing a Marine (Jon Decker) in the bathroom of the bar. This was another amusing scene, although I’m not sure if it was meant to be. The sex is pretty hot and Jon and Stacy have some decent chemistry. The humor comes in with the location. The front of the bar is a smoky, dirty bar and about what you’d expect. The bathroom looks like a house bathroom and may have been the same bathroom from the opening scene. It’s so clean that Jon felt he could eat Stacy right off the floor. Of course, it’s difficult to notice these little details with performers as hot as Stacy. Every scene I watch her in now I’m reminded of what a loss it is to the porn industry that she retired.

Timber, Stacy’s friend who accompanied her to the bar, also takes home a couple of Marines, namely Billy Glide and Shawn Ricks. This scene was horrible and by far the worst in the movie. It never even built up any hopes for me. Timber is only average looking and I’ve never been overly impressed with either of the male performers. The lighting is the worst in the movie. I’m not sure if they even used a flashlight to provide illumination for most of this scene. If it isn’t bad enough as is, the scene is boring and drags on for ever. I couldn’t help but give a scream of “Stop the Madness!”. Then a little while later it happened again. If you do watch Thrust , please keep your remote control handy for this scene.

Finally, Johnni shows JAG Steve Hatcher that she does have one mighty fine asset. Steve is one of my favorite leading men in porn and Johnni rarely disappoints. It’s a very warm scene although it’s nothing too special or memorable.

Although not horrible, Thrust doesn’t really have anything too memorable either. If you’re a fan of the next to no plot porno with standard sex that was so prevalent in the early to mid nineties you might like it. For those who like a halfway decent plot and hot sex, you might want to keep on looking.

Overall: Currently, Thrust can be found online for between $10 and $23 with several stores offering it for under $15. Fans of Stacy Valentine should rent it first as $10 is pushing it. Fans of Johnni Black should pick up Adam & Eve Signature Series Vol. 2: Johnni Black (review forthcoming) instead as it includes both of here scenes from Thrust . It’s almost an average movie, but as a DVD it’s lacking both in transfer and extras.

Note to Adam & Eve: I’m sure that you realize that this is a lousy DVD. It’s really nice, however, to see how far you’ve come with your DVDs in the last few years.
