Synopsis:
An archeologist uncovers the Temple of Sef that, as legend has it, curses anyone who disturbs it to be driven mad by their own erotic fantasies.

Video/Audio:
The Temple of Poon is presented in the full screen aspect ratio, 1.33:1, which appears to be the original aspect ratio for the film. The color levels are fine and the picture is crisp and clear. The film appears to have been originally shot on video, not film.

The 1.0 English mono linear PCM track is all that you would expect from such a track. Everything is very flat sounding. Given the obvious low budget to the film it is just as well that the track is mono since there was obviously no money for better equipment. There are no other language tracks and no subtitle options are available.

Chapters/Time Code:
There are seven chapters available from the main menu for The Temple of Poon, which provides decent navigation through the film. There is a time code for this feature, so time searching is available.

Special Features:
It appears that DaViD didn't even try when creating the extras for The Temple of Poon. Cast Members is a text listing of the cast and Other DaViD Titles is a text listing of 26 adult films soon to be available from DaViD, no previews for any of the titles though.

DVD-ROM Special Features:
The DVD-ROM extra for The Temple of Poon is a full color catalog of adult DVD titles from DaViD. As I don't have a DVD-ROM drive, no other information is available on this extra.

Review:
Stuart Canterbury is known for his well done and usually very fun historical films so I had some high hopes for this one. This is not one of his better films. The story is so thin that it isn't worth following as it just serves as something to be on the screen between the sex acts. An incredibly funny part is the rubber dildo ceremony toward the end of the film.

The sets are very cheaply and poorly made. So bad that they don't even add a campy nature to the film, the just detract horribly from the scenes. The costuming is laughably bad, the cast is dressed in outrageous costumes through most of the film that ends up detracting from the finished product as well. Joey Silvera is present complete in an Indiana Jones rip off costume.

The cast is uninspiring as well. I don't know if it is due to a general lack of talent from the cast or the fact that they knew they were making a bad film and therefore didn't try but bad acting abounds throughout the film. The female cast has far too many obvious physical enhancements for my taste as well. This film could easily be used as an advert for silicone implants as it appears that all the female talent has them.

And now onto the most important feature of an adult film, the quality of the sex. The Temple of Poon fails miserably here as well. The sex is mostly composed of camera angles featuring extreme closeups of the face and extreme closeups of the genital areas. This causes very little heat to emanate from the scenes. No passion is built. The sex becomes almost mechanical. Insert tab A into slot B style sex.

The Money Shot:
Unfortunately I find that I can't recommend The Temple of Poon to anyone. The sex isn't great and the story is very poor. Fans of a plot, no plot, nasty sex, couples and about everyone else will probably be very disappointed by this film. If you are still interested in viewing it, I highly recommend that you rent, not buy this film.
