The Review

Synopsis:
Camp Quim is a summer camp for spoiled rich 18-year-old girls, whose parents are sick of dealing with. Naive innocent Angela Cortese (Shauna Grant) gets sent to Camp Quim and becomes the object of desire.

Video/Audio:
Summer Camp Girls is presented in the 1.33:1, full screen, aspect ratio. I'm unsure whether this is the original aspect ratio for the film. Nothing in the print indicates that the film was originally made in widescreen, but its age suggests that it could have been. As far as the print goes, there are occasional artifacts throughout the film but, especially considering it's age, other than that the print is beautiful. The color levels seem slightly light, but not to the point it will distract you from the film. Summer Camp Girls was originally shot on film and not on video.

The available audio track is a 2.0 English Mono track which, unlike the video, leaves much to be desired. It is a very flat sounding track at a very low default volume. Obviously, no work was done to remaster the audio track at all. With the volume louder than you would normally use it, the dialog is clear and easy to hear and the music never blares above it. No other language tracks and no subtitle options are available.

Chapters/Time Code:
There are six chapters available for Summer Camp Girls from the main menu. They allow for finding a general part in the film as long as you aren't too specific in what you are looking for. The first half of the film has no time code and the second half does have a time code, so this disc does not allow for time searching for finding a part of the film.

Special Features:
As far as the special features are concerned, Summer Camp Girls leaves much to be desired. The photo gallery consists of 24 photos on a two minute and ten second track. The photos are mostly of very poor quality and many of them are fuzzy and blurry. Web Site just features an advert for their forthcoming web site. Phone Sex is an advert for a 900 number. Coming Soon has a listing of Caballero DVDs that were coming soon as of the printing of this disc: Patent Leather, Night Life 3, Love Hurts, Taste of Seka, Let My Puppets Come, Blonde in Blue Flannel, Centerspread Girls, Stiff Competition, Dirty Lingerie, and Brenda — Back to Beverly Hills 9021A.

Review:
Summer Camp Girls is a film from the end of the Golden Age of adult cinema. It features a slim plot line that succeeds in holding the scenes together and holding your attention through the film. Although it promises a summer camp theme, it never really lives up to that promise as most scenes don't take place at the camp. If you are looking for a film with more of a camp theme, then go for Little Girls Blue — Part 2 instead.

The director Robert McCallum has put together a great film. The sex scenes, like most classic films, are much shorter than the ones today, which may bother some people, but he gets some great camera angles during the sex scenes. Although the sex scenes are short, they generally generate more heat than any scene that I have seen in a recent film. The film features a good-looking cast, especially the late porn vixen Shauna Grant. The cast also does a good job with their roles.

The sets are well done, and look nothing like the obviously fake ones used way too much today. Much work went into props and picking locations that looked right, which raises the quality of the film since poorly used props aren't taking you away from the action in the movie.

Luckily the film realizes it's nothing more than a fluff piece and never takes itself too seriously. The finished result is a fun film to watch that never tries to become more than it is or should be, which way too many adult films do that provides a little something for everyone as long as your tastes aren't too exotic.

The Money Shot:
Summer Camp Girls is a plot-based classic film that I definitely recommend for couples, fans of classic adult movies and fans of plot-based adult entertainment. Summer Camp Girls will definitely not be enjoyed by fans of long sex scenes, those who hate a plot in their porn and fans of nasty sex.
