Still Insatiable Review

The Plot: Whee! Lots of plot, lots of dialogue, and lots of characters. Ah, porn at it's finest. So what if we've seen the plot before? I'll bet you won't see it done as well for a long time.

Our movie follows the adventures of Senator Ballworth, an obvious homage to the movie Bullworth (another excellent film, I must say), who is on a crusade against smut and porn. While on the way to a fundraiser, the esteemed senator decides to view one of her visual aides, a porno tape called Still Insatiable . The movie features a young couple who are in a sex booth performing for some actor with the wrong agent (heh). After arriving at the fundraiser, she reaffirms her commitment to the end of smut while her chauffer keeps the engine and internals warm in the parking lot (hey it got me hot, I suspect the engine block was nice and toasty). After doing the dog and pony show for the contributors, the senator goes home and decides to seduce the bodyguard. Quick tip, you probably aren't supposed to stay that close to your client. The next morning, we drive to a workshop on smut (damn, I need to get in on these) where the senator starts daydreaming during her presentation. After going home to get some more of the bodyguard's special services, the chauffer and the senator's aide discuss the relationship of the boss with the help. Naturally, all important, heart-to-heart conversations in porn lead to sex, and this is no exception. The bodyguard and the senator review the porn tape from today's presentation while her aide pumps a member of the press for information. Or he pumps her for information. Either way, there was a lot of pumping involved. After a quick three-way interlude with some guys from a bar, the rumors of the senator's activities become too strong to ignore. The senator and her staff come up with an ingenious solution to the rumors of her activities, which naturally requires a lot of people to have sex together. I wish the solutions to my problems at work involved lots of people having sex.

The Cast: Of course, the big deal about this movie is that Marilyn Chambers is back in action again in the sequel to Insatiable, that marvelous film that was recently remastered for its 20th anniversary. Marilyn is joined by a plethora of top-name adult talent, thankfully properly credited and detailed in VCA's typical quality credits. Stacy Valentine, Juli Ashton, Nikita & Vicca (the Muscovite alabaster beauties), Chloe, Kylie Ireland, Veronica Hart... the list goes on. A little inflated in the chest department, but you'll get over it. Male performances of note are Julian, Mr. Marcus and Julian St. Jox. This is also apparently the first movie of Jack Garfield, so watch for him in the future. I must say that the acting in this movie is heads and tails above the bad 80s porn that I grew up with. Marilyn is easily the best actor in this impressive lineup, and she does a superb job. Julian does a very low-key kind of David Duchovney performance, and Kylie Ireland is pretty good with dialogue as well. The only exceptions really are Juli Ashton and Stacy Valentine, who both just can't quite get the lines out naturally. Of course, you get to see these two very beautiful women have sex with each other, so there is a consolation prize of sorts. There are some cameos, most notably Ron Jeremy as the MC for the fundraiser. You really can't ask for a better cast than this!

A special note goes out to the director Veronica Hart (you can see her in the fundraiser scene). She did an excellent job directing this film. Speaking of the party scene, one of the extras is listed as Artie Choke. He's just a few listings up from Hugh Jorgan, and in a completely separate section from Doomy Moore. Very funny, guys...

The Sex: Our first scene is the porno that Marilyn watches in the limo. Steve Hatcher and Chloe are playing the part of performers in a live sex show for a client. Chloe has on some very thick makeup that makes her look like a foot soldier in Satan's Raccoon Squad, wearing a latex thing that is just way over the top. Jeez, she looks like... um... like a performer in a live sex show. They start off with some teasing and 69 action, and then proceed down into your typical Chloe scene. Of course, that's like saying you're driving to the video store in your typical Ferrari. This scene is great, and Chloe is more vocal than usual. Alas, the editing needs a little help, as Steve takes off his leather vest and it apparently loves him so much that it leaps from the floor and latches on to his back like a lonely lamprey. As is VCA policy, condoms are used throughout, and Chloe puts it on Steve Hatcher with attitude, if such a thing is possible. It's always a treat watching Chloe shut down her higher brain functions as she gets close to orgasm, and I find it extremely erotic. She doesn't stop after Steve cums all over her crotch, either. High points for the scene, and a great way to start a movie.

The senator apparently has fallen under the awesome power of porn, because we cut to her fantasy masturbation scene which takes place in a bed surrounded by some mirrors. The scene is shot with a soft filter so there is a slight halo around everything, and it helps with the dreamy quality perfectly. It's not bad for a solo scene, and we cut every now and then to Marilyn in the back seat of the limo knuckle deep in herself. It's quick, and it's rather nice in a classic way. Personally, I like my solo scenes with toys, batteries, and ridges, but this one isn't too bad.

You know, it's unfortunate how some of the hardest working people never get invited to all the glamorous functions, but being left behind occasionally has its perks. Witness Stacy Valentine, the chauffer, waiting to ferry the senator home. She decides to pass the time by fingering herself in the driver's seat. All things considered, I'd rather be with Stacy than inside at the party. Alas, the camera doesn't share my opinion, as after Stacy finishes her little ménage a moi we cut to the party where the senator is schmoozing the contributors. All is not lost, for we cut back to Stacy, who decides to give us an encore performance. Stacy's solo technique is very different from Marilyn's. Stacy's is much more high-impact and frantic. I personally like it better, and this is fun to watch. I wish the camera didn't disspear in between the two performances, but that pesky plot thing kind of reared its head.

Ah, the main event! Marilyn seduces her bodyguard with some of the oldest lines in the book. (Such as "come up just until I get the house lights on.", "I was thinking about you..." and my favorite "Would you like me to suck on your dick?" The old lines are the best lines) Julian has the perpetual bemused smile on his face like he can't quite believe this is happening. Hey, I guess it's not every day that you get to fuck the boss. Marilyn does a great job, both during her oral ministrations and while getting it slid home. She may be older than your typical porn starlet, but she gets fucked better than several I could mention off the top of my head. Julian is hung quite impressively and he puts it to good use, finishing up in fine fashion all over her ass. Plenty good visuals in this scene, especially shot through the fireplace at the happy couple. She has a lot of energy in her sex... but frankly, I wasn't too impressed. I guess I just need 'em younger for me to really enjoy it.

Conversation is a wonderful aphrodisiac. Conversation leads to sex. Don't believe me? Witness exhibit A, where the senator's aide (Juli Ashton) and the chauffer (Stacy Valentine) have a deep and meaningful conversation about the senator, her bodyguard, and apparently the finer points of dildo worship. For someone who is worried about keeping her job, the chauffer is pretty aggressive. Stacy looks like she is on the prowl at the beginning of this scene and it lasts until the clothes come off, at which point she lays back and receives Juli's tongue talents. I like Stacy, she's got fantastic legs and they're shown off to great effect during this scene. She's also having a great time, and her performance is very well done. Juli gets the deluxe treatment when they switch roles: she gets a blue Alien dildo and the "Pocket Rocket" which is a tiny vibrator that looks like it is made by Hasbro. I love the Alien dildo. I call it this because it has what looks like a spinal cord inside the plastic and it reminds me of the queen alien the second movie (the one directed by James Cameron). Juli gets the juices going and Stacy just drives her nuts by using both tools to great effect. Normally, I'm not a big fan of lesbian scenes, but this one is great. Both ladies obviously had a great time, and I would love to see more of them together.

Of course, while the staff is giving each other the staff, the senator and her bodyguard are watching a porno and commenting about what they like and what they don't like. Considering the porn on the screen is Nikita and Vicca ganging up on Tyce Buné, there is much they like and nothing they don't. I can't blame them because the two Russians work as a great team. There is a particular scene where Nikita throws an arm around Vicca's shoulders and they share Tyce's dick between them. It's like watching a couple of childhood friends making faces in the photo booth at an amusement park, except for the erection that is intruding into the shot. :-) This scene is good, mostly due to our lovely ladies being gorgeous, and have legs that are a couple of parsecs long. Every now and then, the camera shows the senator and her bodyguard as they discuss the action on the screen. There is a great bit where she asks if he would like to have two women at once. He kind of smiles and says "What do you think?", versus my response which would have been "What are you, stupid?" Oh, I like this scene! The clincher is towards the end when Nikita is getting it in the ass doggie style. She looks straight at the camera with those marvelous eyes, and you can almost see the sensations behind them. It's one of those heavy-lidded gazes that just screams the need for sex and you just want to... Um, excuse me, I'll be right back. I have to... uh, wash my hands or something.

While the senator is arranging for a double whammy, her aide Kylie Ireland is having a late night meeting with a very... um, probing reporter (Jack Garfield). This is Jack's first scene in adult cinema, and he does just fine. I must say his technique is definitely on the high-impact side of things, as he fucks Kylie like a pile driver. The scene is lit beautifully with the exception of the vagicam shots... a soft blue light from the window adds a great touch to everything. Kylie moans like a pornstar, but these two actually have a bit of chemistry between them. She's not exactly shy about expressing herself either and she frequently encourages Jack to bigger and better things. There is little foreplay in this scene, but it works pretty well despite the moderate haste. It certainly is a welcome change from the standard porno scene formula (oral 1, oral 2, position 1, position 2 and cumshot) . I rate the scene moderately above average, and for a first timer, Jack Garfield launches a cumshot like a pro. His acting isn't too bad for a porno, either. Kylie's is actually quite good.

Well, now that the senator has procured a couple of young studs (Mr. Marcus and Julian St. Jox). I must give kudos to Marilyn's acting ability, as she plays the nervous & twitchy experimenting woman to perfection. I'm serious, she looks like a woman who suddenly realizes that fantasies aside, she has two large men in a room that are about to fuck her brains out. And they do an admirable job, too! Once she gets into the action, she just starts enjoying herself. She's very vocal throughout the scene, and if you like your women to talk dirty to you, you are going to love this scene from a sound standpoint. Which brings me to my next point. While Marilyn Chambers still has the energy, I like my women younger. She's in great shape for her age, but I'm really not interested in watching people her age getting sex. Uh-uh. Nope. Stacy Valentine = Hell Yes! Marilyn Chambers = Not until I'm her age.

Ah, all porn movies that have a vexing and complex problem to solve all seem to have a simple solution: everybody get naked and fuck, and the world will take care of itself. The senator, both of her aides and the bodyguard all have an orgy together, which is apparently part of the deal to save the senator's career. So... Julian gets to have sex with Juli Ashton, Kylie Ireland and Marilyn Chambers at the same time. That does it, I'm switching professions. He starts with Juli and Kylie sucking his dick, which would be tough for me to resist. He then gets to have Juli ride him with a smile for a couple of minutes (very memorable images here), which would pretty much be the highlight of my life for a couple of centuries. It gets better from there. Let's just say he gets a turn with everyone and the two ladies he is not penetrating at any given time are amusing themselves quite nicely, thankyouverymuch. There's something for everyone in this scene. Kylie's hair, Juli's chest, Marilyn's energy, and Julian's dick (for those of you who like dick). A couple of notes: 1) Marilyn apparently can lick her way out of a solid block of ice, because Juli's brain gets a power surge and she loses her place when she's working on Kylie; 2) Kylie has one of the nicest asses I have ever seen, and 3) Juli apparently has a death grip when milking the last few drops out of her partner after a cumshot. I would be very surprised if everyone didn't have at least one nice & strong orgasm here. This scene is very good, folks.

Goddamn, what a way to wrap up a movie!

The Audio / Image: The image is typical VCA quality, which is to say excellent. This is a multi-angle disc, and the 2nd angle, while not being fundamentally different than the first angle, it looks... well, like someone filmed it during the early 80s. Colors on the 2nd angle are more yellow, the grain isn't as detailed, the focus is slightly more soft. It's as if they decided that one angle would be modern, and the other angle would be nostalgic. They are pretty much the same angle for every scene, so you're not seeing a tremendous difference in the action. Colors on the first angle are very accurate during most scenes, but there seems to be a slight pinkish cast to some of the sex scenes. This may just be my brain overreacting to the difference when I swapped angles. Angle one is crisp, detailed, and razor sharp.

The audio is again up to VCA's quality standards. Dialogue is clear and just loud enough. The music is just about perfect. Never too loud, never too obnoxious, and never jarring from the mood of the scene. It is, IMHO, perfect porno music because it doesn't intrude into the scene, but compliments it.

The Extras: Commentary! Wahoo! I love commentary tracks, and Still Insatiable delivers a good one with Marilyn Chambers and Veronica Hart. This track is pretty detailed, with all kinds of information such as order of shooting, tidbits about the actors (do you know where Tyce Buné got his name from?) and the personalities of everyone involved. There is probably more detail about the ladies' personal sex lives than I really needed to know, but there is rarely a moment of silence when they're not saying something at least mildly interesting. Other extras include a cast biography section (with links to hot scenes for this actress!), three previews, multi-angles, scene selection to the ten spots in the movie, and interviews featuring the director and most of the actresses (Chloe is the only one without an interview and Nikita and Vicca share one). A photo gallery, some behind-the-scenes footage, links to the WWW, and a brief help section. It was actually quite a treat to watch the interviews with Kylie Ireland and Marilyn Chambers, because I can now put a voice to the online chats that I attended at www.adultdvdtalk.com with both of these actresses.

Once again VCA delivers all the extras I love. I could skip the multi-angles, but they're at least done in a different way than Vivid's hot-swapping. And wonder of wonders, these are true multi-angle shots: the audio syncs up. High points for VCA, they know what I like!

The Good: Stacy Valentine, Kylie Ireland, and the Russian Goddesses of Legs Nikita & Vicca. The extras are great, too.

The Bad: Time to go home, Marilyn. What is up with the second angle?

Overall: This one is worth a rental, no doubt about it. If you like older women, you'll love this disc. If you like younger women, you get great scenes with some of the new crop of talent. A little something for everyone.
