Review:
My last experiences with films released by Penthouse were of two varieties – (a) a couple of softcore VHS tapes that Leslie Glass sent me back in the day, and (b) a DVD or two in which Penthouse had teamed up with Private, say 5 or 10 years ago. Needless to say, my perceptions of the company’s productions were antiquated and—honestly—a bit biased. So, when I received “The Orgasm” as a screener from Exile Distribution—Howard Levine’s new company—I was somewhat skeptical. That skepticism, however, melted away rapidly in the heat that was the first scene on the disc, and it never came close to icing back over. In short, this Cash Markman production is an excellent and well-shot feature that showcases steamy sex—most of which is exceptional and none of which is less than very good—and a bevy of solid and attractive talent. It is a credit to the once(?)-waning “Penthouse” brand, and it is definitely a step in the right direction.
In terms of the plot—there is one. It’s kind of loose—especially since the disc cuts back to the scene selection menu after each sequence—but it basically revolves around an adult film that’s being made with Randy Spears as the aging—and whiny / stressed-out—male lead. In this one, the guys bring the drama, and it’s the ladies who are the professionals. Indeed, Randy’s plight is often exacerbated by being utterly ignored and turned down by the women after their scenes together finish up. The girls simply ask for a towel and walk off, as though Randy isn’t there and as though he has said nothing or done nothing at all. Poor Randy…the indignations cast upon him are many, brutal, and varied.
In terms of the sex, all of the scenes are of the standard boy-girl variety, and they’re typically scorching hot. In Scene One, Jessica Lynn is on-tap in a bar-like setting. Randy starts out in an outfit that can best be described as a sort of “punk clown” costume before laying some pipe in the curvy blonde (excellent ; facial). Scene Two brings together Aleska Diamond and Evan Stone on a set filled with party balloons. Aleska’s pink lingerie complements the surroundings nicely and also frames her well-toned physique quite well. She’s definitely one to keep an eye out for in the future. Overall, this segment is also excellent and caps off with Evan dropping a load on Aleska’s ass. In Scene Three, Samantha Ryan is a frustrated housewife who gets it on with her banana—yeah…there’s a costume for that—Evan Stone in her kitchen. This one serves as another steamy and excellent romp that really shows a lot of chemistry between the participants and ends with a facial for Ms. Ryan. Scene Four involves Tommy Gunn accidentally heading into the women’s locker room—though there is football equipment all around (?)—and laying claim to the prize that he finds there—Ms. Kayla Paige. Again—smoking hot sex follows, and this exceptional encounter closes out with a pop-shot to Kayla’s pelvis and pussy. Finally, it’s in Scene Five where a worse-for-wear Randy Spears again gets to take a load off. This time, it’s on an ancient-Roman (more or less) set with Alanah Rae. Randy is now in the banana costume, but this most recent humiliation isn’t enough to keep him from delivering the goods and turning out a very good scene with Ms. Rae. Most of the action here is on a stone bench in a courtyard, and the festivities close out with a cum-shot to Alanah’s breasts—hot stuff!
In terms of bonus materials and other options, there’s a “Photo Gallery” that puts forth a slideshow of stills, and there’s a section for upcoming trailers—a choice of six of them, if I recall correctly. There’s also a “Bonus Scene” featuring an Audrey Bitoni boy / girl sequence from “Pubic Enemy”. This one also has its own “Photo Gallery” option. There’s a selection that gives directions on how to use the disc on a computer, as well. A BTS segment would have been a welcomed addition. Often times, they’re as interesting as the movie itself. Oh well…
All in all, I highly recommend this particular title. I don’t know if all of Penthouse’s more recent offerings are of this caliber, but if they are, it’s a good sign. Check it out!
