North Pole 13 Review

Initial Expectations: I’ve heard some pretty good things about the North Pole series, so I have fairly good expectations.

Initial Reaction: What? Oh, I’m sorry I must have dozed off there.

Audio /Video Quality: The picture is a little below average. There’s some pixelation problems, such as the entire screen flashing fuzzy for a moment. Considering the horrible lighting for almost the entire movie I’m surprised that the picture isn’t worse than what it is. The audio isn’t too bad as you can hear everything pretty well. There’s a little bit of dubbing, but the most annoying thing is that you can hear the noises from the surroundings as good or better than the sounds you want to hear.

Music: It’s well balanced but a little cheesier than normal porno music. There were a few times I expected Mario and Luigi to run across the screen.

Disc Problems: The picture gallery froze on me the first time I tried watching it. The main menu then froze on me when I tried to get back into the photo gallery. There also appeared to be some problems before the main menu, as there were flashes of colored bars on the screen for a moment or two, but it didn’t directly interfere with playing the DVD on the player I was using.

Review: The main selling point for North Pole #13 is Jewel De’Nyle’s first DP, which starts of this installment of the North Pole series. Unfortunately, that’s about all that’s worth watching here and even that seems fairly boring. It takes place in a ‘story’ (hey, it’s gonzo so not much of a plot is expected) about her and Earl’s anniversary called Twin Towers . Earl buys her some lingerie for a present and also gives her a bit of Peter North. Jewel does a better than average job compared to most scenes, but unfortunately it’s a little below average for what we’ve come to expect from her. She seems a little restrained in a lot of the scene and there’s very little of her normal trash talking. On the plus side, she gives a great double blowjob while hanging upside down and both Earl and Peter get to partake of all of her orifices.

The second scene, between Skylar and Jay Sinn, is entitled Velvet Darkness . I can only assume that the velvet refers to the five o’clock shadow across Skylar’s nether regions and the Darkness is pretty self explanatory with the poor lighting in the scene. The only lead in to the scene is Skylar walking down a stairs, and looking quite cute I must admit. There’s a reason she’s the cover girl on the DVD. She walks up to Jay, who’s sitting on a couch in what looks to be a hotel, and they get down to business. I hope that this wasn’t really in a hotel as there’s horrible wind noise throughout the entire scene. It doesn’t help that any noises made by either Skylar or Jay sound very hollow and echoey. Sadly, the technical aspects of the scene match the scene pretty well. Neither Skylar or Jay look natural or even comfortable in much of the scene. When it comes time for the pop shot, Skylar shies away like Jay was going to spray her with the Joker’s trick flower. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was a facial, but she takes the shot on her chest.

It doesn’t appear that Dillion has much luck with women in Ring-a-ding as things start out with him calling to find out where the girl he hired is. The girl, Nikita (not the voluptuous beauty we’re used to from such amazing movies as DMJ 6 was probably trying to back out of the scene when she realized that the dominating sound in the audio would be construction workers with circle saws on a nearby set. This Nikita sometimes has an American accent and others had a European accent. She has dark hair and is slightly below average looking. She’s kind of skanky in an okay-if-you-ve-had-a- couple way. Maybe it’s just me, but medium sized tattoos on the upper arm just don’t look sexy on women. I do have to give her credit for keeping her real breasts. Actually, her real breast are the highlight of the scene. There’s just something about that natural jiggle. Other than that, the scene is very forgettable and I found myself reaching for the remote to fast forward through some of it.

In Free Flow Peter nails Jeanie Rivers by a pool with a waterfall. Hopefully nobody wants to hear the audio from the scene as the waterfall noise covers up most of it. One of the clearest things in the audio for this scene is when Jeanie is told to go down on Peter once more. Apparently somebody saw that she was about to fall asleep if they didn’t say anything to her. I’m not sure if she was trying to bob up and down on Peter’s massive pole or if she was that close to falling asleep. It wasn’t any better when Peter was eating her our or much of him pounding away on her pussy. It did get better later in the scene, but it’s debatable if the scene ever reached an average quality level.

Finally, Cheyne takes the bleached blonde Caroline in ass in the backyard in Picnic . Peter tells us that it took Cheyne quite a while to talk Caroline into doing the scene as she doesn’t speak a drop of English. I hope it was good for Cheyne, as Caroline isn’t much to look at. I hope she earned enough money from this scene to see a doctor. The scar from her boob job looked infected, which she knew enough to cover up through most of the scene. A little tip: horrible and possibly infected scars aren’t sexy to most people watching porno.

If the rest of the North Pole series is like North Pole #13 , I hope that this is the end of the series. #13 is not a lucky number. With the exception of Jewel and Skylar, the girls are fairly skanky. To make matters worse, most of the cast doesn’t look like they’re enjoying themselves. Combine this with bad audio and extremely poor lighting and you’ve got a loser of a DVD.

Extras: The photo gallery, trailers, and interviews are the best thing on this DVD. Digital Sin has perhaps the best photo gallery out there. You can manually advance through the almost forty pictures but if you wait about five seconds it will advance on its own. This is a great blend of the manual and automated photo gallery and I hope more studios follow their example. Everybody wins with this method.

Digital Sin changed their DVD format around a little bit for extras. On this DVD (and from what I hear several of their other new DVDs), the second side is dedicated to trailers and interviews. There’s trailers from almost every Digital Sin release. The North Pole, 4 Finger Club, Naughty College Schoolgirls, She Squirts, My Plaything, Video Virgins Gold, and Papa Load’s Blowjob Babes series all have trailers included. There’s a plain, but nice, menu system that lets you select the series and then the movie to see the trailer for.

Digital Sin also includes a short interview with a short scene for several popular girls who have appeared in their movies. Of course, Jewel De’Nyle is there, but there’s also Bridgette Kerkove (looking perhaps the cutest I’ve ever seen her), Lisa, Kate Moore, Mariah (not the redhead from some of their other release), Vanity, Jewel Valmont (also known as Ava Vincent), Taylor Sinclair, Lisa Romero, and Hunter. Lisa is the only girl who doesn’t have an interview and only does a short tease. The others all do a short tease and many do a little solo work. It’s a really nice extra and I hope Digital Sin adds some other girls and maybe rotates a few around so that it doesn’t get old, like the Vivid extras. Luckily, these scenes are way better than anything Vivid has had for extras, so they’ll survive a lot longer before getting old.

Overall: Currently, North Pole 13 can be found online for between $18 and $22 with a few stores offering it for under $20. Fans of Jewel may want to pick it up for her very first DP but that’s about all that’s worth watching on this DVD. I’d suggest renting it first as even it is a little disappointing. The technical aspects suck, but the few extras are very well done.

Note to Digital Sin: Great job on the few extras you put on this DVD. A little more attention to some of the technical aspects (such as lighting, the pixelation flashes, and the menu and photo gallery freezes) would have earned you a higher rating.
