Momentum (Light Southern) Review

With an assist from retro Australian autos and a lovely beach environ, Aussie director Michelle Flynn uncorks MOMENTUM VOL. 1 (2015, Light Southern-Australia) as girl/girl action bookends a terrific straight sex encounter inside a parked Holden Panel Van for this first installment of an original series. No condoms. Wide screen. 48 minutes plus a few extras.

Lovely Lily Rei gets dressed, grabs her surf board then heads out the door where two of her friends await in a Holden automobile that transports our three muses during the opening credits.

The trio arrive at a deserted beach area to surf and frolic to the strings of an acoustic guitar accompaniment. Intercut into the beach action are shots of a gal roller skating in the suburbs the trio had left behind. The trio soon find a more private spot near the beach where the duo of Kara D and Skye explore each other's bodies while Lily lies beside them and masturbates as her friends becomes more passionate.

Kara D takes off with the vehicle to take a short drive to where she finds Devon parked in his Holden Panel Van. The two sit and kiss with the back hatch open then eventually lie back into the open area for his jeans and her swimsuit to come off. A terrific straight sex encounter ensues as director Flynn captures the action from different mostly wide angles around the auto's rear perimeter that also includes cloudier, glassier shots through the back windows. Shots of doggy and mish positions are more your typical porn shot then Flynn shoots the final positions from the front end of the vehicle. A nice scene coda shows the duo's feet hanging off the back end of the car while kissing.

From the grassy plain, Kara says "I gotta go" so she drives and picks up her friends from the beach. Back at home, Skye gets a visit from the roller skating girl and the duo soon take it to the floor.

Cue a solid indoor girl/girl encounter between pretty Skye and paler, bustier Chloe B as the duo land upon a Persian rug for sucking, fingering and, at times, choking. Some of these tighter well-composed shots feature actions and reactions that come in and out of focus in a frame full of warm orange hues and colors. Director Flynn seems to also have a go-to position that relies on one hand fingering pussy, the other lightly choking, while the mouth sucks or bites a nipple. (It works well visually and she uses this again in the terrific girl/girl encounter that closes MOMENTUM VOL. 2) Eventually, the duo intimately lie flat on their backs to masturbate then more fingering ensues for the finale that leads to the duo sharing nose kisses and a craving for food.

So, Aussie director Michelle Flynn scores really high with these intimate and well-staged sex scenes then MOMENTUM VOL. 1 (2015, Light Southern-Australia) hits on all cylinders by incorporating those Aussie autos that really help give this flick its late '60s, early '70s vibe. In future installments, let's hope that we get to know some of these character better as Flynn hones her writing/directing craft and improves this original series with each outing. So, !!!! outta !!!!! for the earthy, moving MOMENTUM VOL. 1.

And now for a QUICKIE... I had the pleasure of viewing both MOMENTUM VOL. 1 and MOMENTUM VOL. 2 on one bright and sunny October afternoon. Director Flynn does a fine job mounting similar sex scenes that even occur in a similar order and duration in MOMENTUM VOL 2. However, this less-inviting suburban environ makes this tale of skating girl Chloe B turned bicycling voyeur Chloe B seems not as fresh and original.

Also, the contrasting of outdoor encounters in the first half with the indoor encounter of the second half in MOMENTUM VOL. 1 really works and might be the template to follow for future editions of this original series.
