Initial Expectations: I thought I’d start my third year of reviewing with something more than a little different. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this feature and DVD, which gives me some hope, but as a straight guy I’m a little nervous about watching my first bi feature.

Initial Reaction: It seems like a gay movie with a few women thrown in.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants a bisexual film that leans a little towards the gay side

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants a very well balanced bisexual film

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are near perfect. The video is crystal clear through almost the entire feature and has very few shadows. The audio is almost as clear, but there is an instance or two where you can hear the stars being given directions clearer than you can hear the stars themselves.

Music: The music is very soft in feel, and normally well balanced with the rest of the feature. It brings a little more of a romantic feel to the scenes, which I think helped things a bit.

Menus: The main menu is fairly plain, but does have a nice little bit of animation. The chapter menu is pretty standard, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and a title for the scene.

The Feature: Mass Appeal revolves around a house of loose women, and men. Sky Lopez and Jon Eric start things off picking up a hitchhiking Ken Ryker, who as I understand it is dreamed about by both men and women alike. They bring him to the house and, as in most pornos, a lot of sex occurs because of it.

Hitchhiking Ken Ryker starts things off with a bit of luck when he’s picked by a limo containing Sky Lopez and Jon Eric. Sky quickly offers Ken a little fun, and then bends over to start sucking his cock when he accepts while Ken starts jerking off Jon. The three of them work their way back and forth between all of them, with Ken getting a bit more head from Sky as well as giving Jon more than a little oral pleasure. Sky also gives the guys a double handjob while they suck her tits, which is easily the most erotic part of the entire scene. Sky gets a little attention herself, but the guys only finger her and never let their tongue touch her pussy. It’s almost as if they’re afraid of it, and gives the scene much more of a gay feel than a bisexual feel. The three of them finally finish each other off, with the guys popping on their own stomachs and Sky giving herself a couple fingers. It’s an okay start, and seems like a nice opener for those of us who haven’t seen a gay or bisexual title before.

Jon Eric moves out to the pool with T. J. Hart and Lauren Montgomery while chauffeur T. J. Cummings admires Ken Ryker in the shower. T. J. and Ken start things out with the glass between them before Ken lets him into the shower. T. J. sucks Ken’s cock and then lets him explore and spank his ass until they’re joined by Sky. Sky joins in the oral fun, and even fingers T. J.’s ass while sucking his cock. Ken actually goes in for a taste of pussy, and then starts fucking Sky while she sucks and strokes T. J. She doesn’t get greedy, however, and lets Ken have a taste of T. J. as well. T. J. gets in the middle next, and has Sky sixty nine him while Ken fucks his ass. Ken finishes things off decorating Sky’s back, with T. J. soon after jerking himself onto his stomach. It’s another pretty decent scene, but often the guys seem more into each other than Sky.

Meanwhile, outside Jon and the girls exchange oral favors, with Jon once again not taking a taste of pussy. He does, however, fuck T. J. from behind while she eats Lauren’s snatch. He moves on to fuck T. J. in a couple positions before blasting his ball butter on both of their stomachs. It’s a pretty good scene., and has some all around nice chemistry. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Lauren, but it seems like at least one woman in each scene has to be like window dressing.

Before the next full scene, there’s actually a kind of montage of scenes. It shows several of the groups together in a very artistic way. It’s only a few minutes long, but a very nice break in the middle of the movie.

Chloe takes a bath with T. J. Cummings to start out the next scene. She gives him a nice little foot job before they’re joined by Rick Chase. Rick watches and boxes the clown as Chloe and T. J. give him a show involving a double dildo. After Chloe has one of her usual explosive orgasms, she leads the guys down to the kitchen and has them get up onto the counter. She licks the guys fingers and asses to keep them well lubed, and jerks them off while they kiss and finger each other. Chloe also brings the double dildo back to warm up the guys before putting on her strap-on. T. J. gets in the middle, so he can suck Chloe’s toy while being reamed from behind. Her strap-on disappears before Rick fucks her, and T. J. soon joins Rick in her pussy for a double pussy penetration. Chloe finishes things taking a Northian sized load from Rick and letting T. J. cover his stomach. It’s a hot scene that has the best chemistry throughout the group in the entire movie. T. J. once again seems about as interested in the opposite sex as a football team going to the ballet.

Finally, Jon Eric starts giving Ken Ryker a little oral going away party. As they cuddle after a little sixty-nining, they’re joined by T. J. Hart. T. J. takes turns sucking their cocks and then lets their tongues dance across her holes. The guys each take a turn fucking T. J. before decorating her front with guy goo. It’s a pretty good scene that has some pretty decent chemistry. I couldn’t help but thing the guys were wishing T. J. wasn’t in their way, but they still get going pretty good.

Mass Appeal is a nice looking movie. The plot is almost non-existent, but gives an okay setting for all the sex to take place. The sex is captured very well, but suffers due to some lacking chemistry. Most of the scenes feel like a gay scene with a woman thrown into it, especially in the first half of the movie. Rather than having an even balance with everybody in the scene wanting to do each other, it seems more like the guys would rather the woman go get a scissors and comb and do their hair while they go down on each other. The last couple scenes are much better, but it almost always seems like there’s one woman too many in each scene. This feeling even comes across in the balance of the scenes. Only one scene has two girls with a guy. The rest are all two guys with a girl. Combined with the chemistry balance, it makes this feel more like a gay movie than a bisexual one. Mass Appeal isn’t a bad film, it’s just off balance, which might turn off some people who look here to see what an often talked about well made bisexual film is like.

Extras: Bios are included for entire cast, which seems to be a real rarity nowdays. Each bio gives a picture, a little personal information, and lists a few of the star’s other OGV credits. Trailers are included for Idol in the Sky and Desire. The slide show lasts two minutes with about five seconds per nice looking framed photo. There’s also a minute and a quarter behind the scenes gallery that takes about a minute and a quarter that looks just as good. Jon Eric and T. J. Hart give a twelve minute interview talking about the movie, which is his first bisexual movie although not hers. They both come across as very friendly and real, but the interviewer seems more interested in sucking up that interviewing. The last couple minutes are easily the best, and hint at a shared past between the two of them without really coming out and saying much.

Raincoat Factor: Very high

Overall: Currently, Mass Appeal can be found online for between $40 and $50 with most stores offering it for about $45. Rent this one if you’re interested. Bi titles are notoriously expensive, and I think this might be a disappointment to some people. If you’re going to spend $40 on this one, an extra three or four bucks is going to be a cheap insurance policy.

Note to Men of Odyssey: It’s nice to see you bringing some top of the line performers from both sides into bisexual movies, but a little better balance would have made this a lot better.
