Joy Of Fooling Around Review

Heavy on plot with piss-poor dubbing and inserted xxx footage, THE JOY OF FOOLING AROUND (1979, Cal Vista; VCX Standard Frame Re-release, 2008) should have been left in the VCX vault.

Pure hearted Marina (Monique Du Prez) rescues a stranger (Kevin Raymond) who has washed up on shore near her father's fishing hut but can't remember a thing. A devious hotel owner, Flora (Erica Swanson) tries to pin a robbery and murder on the mystery man with amnesia. Her plan fails but Flora gets to hump just about every man and woman on the Greek Island before the the mystery man recovers his memory and the real criminal is captured.

THE JOY OF FOOLING AROUND is one of those well-photographed features that's loaded with brief sex scenes and an over-abundance of plot that relies on actors delivering plenty of dialog that, in this case, is badly dubbed in English. In its original language, THE JOY OF FOOLING AROUND with stiff acting and limp fucking might be mediocre at best but the dubbing brings this dialog-laden feature down many notches. Meanwhile, the last 15 minutes has not one, but two chases through the winding streets of the Greek Island town and tosses in a Marina and Flora catfight on the beach as lagniappe.

And why is this little 88 minute crime yarn called THE JOY OF FOOLING AROUND when everyone is so deadly serious and the sex is so very boring? Fool around with some other DVD purchase and let this disc float out to sea. Extras for THE JOY OF FOOLING AROUND include an assortment of VCX bonus scenes and trailers, a brief photogallery and VCX legendary tribute.
