Review:
They say that all good things must come to an end, and this is sadly also true for acclaimed director Ricky Greenwood's skate- and street-life epic, Grinders, streaming over at Adult Time. As the final episode rolls in, this wild ride concludes poignantly, with some issues progressing forward and some not...much like in real life. For most in the protagonist's (Lucky Fate's) age group during any modern era, but particularly the one represented here (1999 transitioning to 2000), life's a series of trials and tribulations, successes and failures, and a period of confusion and finding oneself amongst a milieu of hormones, new responsibilities, and turbulent emotions. Throughout this series/flick, Greenwood and his writer, Shawn Alff, have captured the essence of these difficulties and this uncertainty...all while maintaining steamy sexual scenarios and keeping their vintage vibe both fresh and faithful. Needless to say, the acting has been exceptional all-around, as have the art direction, cinematography, and musical scoring, and the end result is a sexy, nostalgic walk down the path that many of the younger generation of over two decades ago collectively shared.
This particular sequence kicks off with Lucky attending a Y2K New Year's party that his friends are holding at the loft. This one's a rager, as there's live music from a hardcore, thrashing band, skating (some of it buck-ass naked), and a bunch of crazy mother-fuckers just having fun and living up the "end of the world". After the countdown and the clock strikes midnight, Lucky and Maya Woulfe--also attending the party--have a moment and head off to the rooftop, where the moment turns into two... and then three... and then a sensual fucking. The action that ensues (oral by both, cowgirl, doggie-style, spooning, etc.) is both passionate and beautiful and perfectly reflects the pair's budding feelings for one another. A dribbling creampie ultimately finishes off this loving bit of youthful lust in sexy style. (And... not to give anything away... but the storyline wraps up deftly a number of minutes later, putting the final punctuation on this evocative and engaging tale of what used to be.)
We need more of this.
