Disclaimer: I have not finished watching the
abundant extras on Dream Quest. But I wanted to
in the least review the movie and the extras I
have seen since there is such a demand for a
Dream Quest review.
The Plot: Hopeless romantic Jenna Jameson is on a quest to rescue fantasy from the underworld and return fantasy to the people. Jenna encounters scantily clad fairies, horny trolls, and sexy warriors. She does a lot of horseback riding and even swims naked in a pond. Hershel plays a perfect overlord of the underworld. In fact, all of the casting is excellent. The Princess Bride references are a nice touch. The plot held my attention throughout, though I was disappointed by some details. For example, I was hoping that a beautiful woman would embody fantasy – instead it’s two glass balls.
Costumes/Scenery: The costumes are truly outstanding and really add to the sexual heat. Stephanie Swift looks incredible in her fairy outfit – her ass is one of the highlights of the movie. Alexa’s ice queen warrior garb also deserves a mention, especially her transparent dildo weaponry. The scenery made for a very erotic backdrop. I’d much rather watch people have sex in Sherwood forest than on the same couch you’ve seen in every porno since you were 18. There are some inconsistencies in the scenery – e.g. Jenna is riding through a dense forest, oh wait now she’s in the southern California dry lands – but those are minor details.
Sex and lot of it: Something I really want to thank Wicked/Adam and Eve for is the discreet use of condoms. There are condoms in every scene, but I had to hit pause to find them. They are mostly transparent with a slight skin tone, and placed far enough up the shaft that the condom donut is rarely visible.
The first scene with Asia Carrera, Jenna and Evan Stone is definitely on my list of top notch Asia scenes. Maybe it was Asia's Arachnid costume (badass witch), maybe it was Evan's body, maybe it was the interaction of the three (since threesomes usually have awkward moments.) Asia really took control of this scene. The only negative was Jenna's clit ring, as it did not make sense with her character.
Another sex highlight is the threesome with Stephanie Swift, Felicia and Jenna. For once I didn't have to hear "fuck fuck fuck" in an all girl scene. The noises are playful and realistic. Stephanie and Felicia are perfect fairies and maintain that nymph-like quality during the sex. The initial looks they all give each other at the beginning of the scene are more erotic than the sex itself. Too bad the transition from those looks to the boob juggling is so abrupt.
Most of the sex scenes were not that appealing to me due to the amount of time spent on the blowjobs. I just don't like watching blowjobs, though I'm sure many of you do. I have to admit the blowjobs are especially well filmed. The lighting throughout makes the girls look very good. The guys are mostly trolls and ogres - how like porn, trolls and ogres screwing beautiful women. There's a little anal, some cum play, one toy scene with Jenna and Alexa, and a good mix of close-ups and body shots. Jenna is mainly with women. There is only one scene where Jenna has sex with a guy (Devin Wolf.) I did find the tattoos and piercings in general a distraction.
The DVD: The folks at Wicked in DVD production are very proud of their work on Dream Quest - and rightly so! The behind the scenes is everything you'd want in a behind the scenes. It documents each day of shooting, instead of just throwing together some random behind the scenes footage. Jenna fans will love the chance to see her joking around on the set, tired from long days of shooting, proofing slides of PR shots, and basically talking the viewer through the days of shooting. Few behind the scenes have this much candid footage.
I look forward to seeing the rest of the extras and listening to the commentary. This may be one of those DVDs where I end up liking the extras more than the movie itself. I’ll let you know when I finish watching the extras. Sorry to leave you hanging.
