The First Word: Although this is a compilation disc, it's an outstanding value and a wonderful DVD. If you're looking for a high quality female masturbation video, look no further!

Plot Synopsis: As a bit of background, director Michael Ninn made a series of four girl-girl movies, the Diva series. Each of the videos featured several all-girl fantasy scenarios, each elegantly shot and beautifully composed. No plot, no story, no dialogue (except for dirty talk), just beautiful women in fantasy surroundings. Prior to each of these girl-girl segments, Ninn filmed the individual women by themselves in a solo masturbation scene. The girls appeared in the same costumes and locations as the girl-girl fantasies, but the solo action was not scripted, and Ninn let the girls masturbate how they wanted to. The girls made plenty of eye contact with the camera and talked dirty to the camera as if it were the (male) viewer. From the 40 or so individual solo scenes, Ninn selected 25 to appear in this compilation DVD, Diva Girls. Over the course of two hours, the video showcases those 25 girls, each clearly identified. At the beginning of the video and intermixed between some of the scenes is behind the scenes footage and interviews with the girls.

Notable Performances: I think Michael Ninn was right on the money when he said that there should be at least one of the 25 girls that gets your attention and admiration. I'm sure that you'll find someone on the cast list who's one of your favorite porn stars, and if not, you'll probably discover a new favorite. Since everyone likes different girls, different masturbation styles, and different fantasies, I won't try to comment on the 25 different scenes. I will however, go on the record and say that I really liked the scenes with the following girls: Juli Ashton, Paisley Hunter, Avalon, Roxanne Hall, Nikita, Vicca, Lauren Montgomery, Rebecca Lord, and Stephanie Swift. That's going only on their performances in this compilation (there are other girls that I like in general, but I didn't find their solo scenes that appealing). And, even the ones that I didn't mention are all top notch in terms of Ninn's photographic style and A/V quality.

Dislikes: It's too bad ... if an alien came down from outer space and watched this DVD, it would conclude that most Earth women have large and artificial breasts. Only a handful of the 25 women have natural tits, which is a real shame. However, it was interesting to hear from Stacey Valentine in the behind the scenes footage say that she made a mistake going from a C-cup to an F-cup, because she wasn't able to run! :) Another disappointment was that some of the scenes appear to be shortened from their original length. For example, I remember Stephanie Swift's original masturbation scene, and the version that appears in Diva Girls is missing her body stiffening orgasm that she has at the end. I know they wanted to include as many girls as possible, but toward the end, the scenes were getting ridiculously short, less than two minutes per girl. Finally, this title may not appeal to everyone because of the extreme-closeup, gynecological camera shots and some mechanical looking performances. I have seen better solo masturbation scenes that are more loving or honest, but you don't find those on an all-sex compilation disc like Diva Girls, but rather in couple's movies or amateur/pro-am series.

DVD Notes: From the first moment the main menu appears, you know that this is going to be a high quality experience. The menus are bright, clean, and very professional looking. As you drill down into the menus, you'll find some extras, including a short introduction by Michael Ninn, explaining the reason why he put Diva Girls together and how he filmed the segments. If that's not enough, VCA also included four bonus scenes from the Diva 1-4. These girl-girl fantasies should give you a good idea of what to expect from those movies if you haven't seen them before. But wait--there's more! There's even an easter egg hunt for a hidden extra bonus scene from Diva 2. The extras are rounded out by almost 50 high quality still photos from each of the four Diva movies and trailers for a trio of Ninn films. Combined with the outstanding audio and video quality of the transfer, this is a superior dual-layered disc that proves that VCA puts out some of the best A-List DVDs on the market today.

The Last Word: Even though this is a compilation from the four Diva movies, VCA has included enough behind the scenes material to interest even someone like me who has seen all of the original videos. If you haven't seen any of the Divas, this is a great way to get a guided tour of all of them. Recommended, but be sure to check out the "Dislikes" section above to make sure you know the weaknesses of this title.
