Review:
A young marriage finds itself threatened as Jesie St. James and Eric Edwards--together for a handful of years--grow further and further apart and less and less able to get on the same, sexual page. Indeed, whether their differences (...and the outside interferences that spring up around them...) will be enough to tear them apart or whether true love will triumph over all becomes a very real and serious question for the pair. Such is the case in "Charli", a very good, 1981 release from VCX and director Godfrey Daniels. Featuring the exceptional acting talents of both Edwards and St. James--each of whom always seems to deliver in their respective roles--along with a number of sexy scenes and an engrossing plot, this fun, little fuck-flick is a fairly safe bet for those seeking out vintage couples' fare. It's rife with Golden Age nostalgia, it's sexually seductive, and it's well-balanced in its presentation of both sides of the lovers' issues. Moreover, with a dose of external temptation for both hubby and wife thrown in for good measure, there's just enough tension to make things uncomfortable...and to keep the audience's interest throughout. For fans of Edwards, St. James, porno's golden past, and / or soft, couples-friendly material, this one's certainly worth checking out.

In terms of the sex, Scene One finds the blonde star of the film, Jesie St. James, and her hubby, Eric Edwards, in a brief, dark, and sensual fireside oral affair. In Scene Two, Eric fantasizes about the raven-tressed spitfire, Arcadia Lake, as he mounts his wife in their marital bed (softcore with Jesse, oral and vaginal with Arcadia ; Lake jerks him to a load on her bush). Scene Three pairs up Eric with the blonde bimbo secretary at work, Lee Carroll, who's been putting the moves on him and about whom he's fantasizing (oral, vaginal ; cum-shot on her tummy). In Scene Four, Jesie daydreams about having an erotic encounter with Edward in the shower later in the evening (oral), while in Scene Five, she blows him as they watch Marilyn Chambers suck a dude off in a video that Jesie's brought home to spice things up. Scene Six finds a soapy Jesie masturbating in the shower in a nicely captured sequence shot through the steamy shower door. In Scene Seven, the brunette industry legend and Jesie's buddy, Annette Haven, gets her guy of choice, Randy West, after-hours at her gym (oral, vaginal ; pop on her bush followed by a cummy reinsertion). Scene Eight offers up a sensual, oiled-up, lesbian encounter featuring Annette and Jesie, all in Jesie's imagination as she receives a massage from her in real life (fingers and tongues by Haven). In Scene Nine, Lee Carroll and Eric's co-worker, Billy Dee, get it on after-hours following Lee's being rebuffed by Eric himself after a very brief lick-and-suck (oral ; cum-shot on her tits). Scene Ten brings together Jesie and Eric for a final, softcore fuck in their bed. Not bad. Not bad at all.
