Initial Expectations: I was very impressed with Buttman Comics Presents: Tales From the Crack and can’t help but have very high expectations here as well.

Initial Reaction: It suffers slightly from sequelitis, but not by much.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants the sex you expect from Evil Angel combined with high quality feature production values

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who dislikes group sex

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very nicely done. The audio is clear and extremely well balanced. Although there do appear to be a couple background noises, they seem so natural when the do occur that I’m not sure if they were real background noises or noises which were put in during post production to add to the overall feel. The video is also nicely done. It has just a hint of softness, and in a couple places almost get a little overly soft, but is nicely lit. You also have the option to watch the movie in High Definition, which is included on its own DVD.

Music: None

Menus: The menus are pretty well done. The main menu has a bit of a comic feel as well as some decent animation. The chapter menu keeps the comic look, and lets you choose where to go in each scene based on a series of text choices.

The Feature

Taryn Thomas isn’t one of the popular girls, but that doesn’t mean that the cheerleading squad doesn’t know who she is. Head Cheerleader Sammie Rhodes knows exactly who she is, especially since she saw Taryn talking to her boyfriend Scott Nails. After giving her more than a verbal message by her locker, Taryn is helped up by Scott and learns that they both love comic books. They page through an issue of Buttman comics and check out some of the stories inside while getting to know each other better.

Scene 1A - Kaylynn and Tyler Durden

Brunette Kaylynn starts out the sex going down on Tyler in the front seat of a car. This is a very well done scene. Not surprisingly, the sex is very well done with Kaylynn doing a fantastic job throughout the scene taking it in both her holes. She’s nicely joined by Nadia, and both of them have great chemistry with the guys. The scene was kicked up another notch by the production values. Tommy’s devil look was just as good as his look for Pirates, and he adds some nice humor to the scene with his lines and mannerisms. The set at times seems simple, but there’s enough attention to the details that it seems just right. This is a great way to start off the movie.

Scene 2 - Vicky Vette, James Deen, and Scott Lyons

When Vicky goes shopping, she can’t resist teasing the boys working there a little, rubbing the bananas while wearing a short skirt, stockings, and a sexy black shirt that doesn’t quite conceal her nipples. When Scott leads her to some strawberries she seductively eats it as well as sucking his finger. James also balances him out nicely, and gives a kind of well rounded feel to the scene. This is a great scene with some fantastic teasing.

Scene 3 - Courtney Simpson, Hillary Scott, Sammie Rhodes, Sunny Lane, Vanessa Lane, and Victoria Sin

After the sprinklers get them practicing their cheers outside, the cheerleading team heads in to hit the showers. The girls quickly start lathering each other up and break into two groups of three. Of course the tongues quickly come out as well, with plenty of asses getting licked as well as pussies. The girls come join up into one big group so they can really team up on a couple of the girls at a time. Several of the girls a good ass stretching with fingers and toys, with a few of the girls taking double penetrations and tastes of their ass. The only one who doesn’t seem to get a good rectal reaming is Sunny, who more than makes up for it with her enthusiasm, vocals, and looks. Finally, they share a kiss and head back to the locker room.

This is one heck of a great all girl orgy! The girls are all cute as can be and none of them seem to be holding back at all. The toys fit into the scene very well rather than feeling like they’re just being crammed into it, with the same going for the anal action. It’s a great and natural progression, and it really kicks up the heat in the scene. The cheerleader locker room scene has been done many times, but rarely has it been done as well as it is here.

Scene 4 - Dillan Lauren and Christian, Katja Kassin and Talon

At the backyard wrestling match, porno primadonna Dillan and Army Brat Katja decide their best chance out is to team up against caveman Christian and Disco Inferno Talon. They find themselves in a back shed where Dillan attacks Christian orally while Katja takes Talon’s cock into her throat. This is a great scene. There’s plenty of humor to it, as well as plenty of heat. The girls both do a great job taking it in both holes, but for some reason I couldn’t help but notice the guys here. Normally Christian does a very solid job, but here he seemed to slack a little and I couldn’t help but be impressed with Talon. Yes, I’ll readily admit that he’s one of my least favorite porn studs out there, but here his apparently having had more facelifts so far than Richard Chamberlain and Peter O’Toole had in their combined lifetimes works well with the afro wig and wrestling theme. He also puts out some great energy and really seems to have great chemistry with Katja. This is a hot and fun scene.

Scene 5 - Taryn Thomas and Scott Nails

After they look at some of a Buttman comic, Taryn offers to show Scott some of her moves. She loosens the tie over her white button down skirt and pushes him back on the desk to break out his cock and give it a good sucking. She lets Scott pull up her plaid skirt and pull down her ruffled panties to fuck her from behind before rolling onto her back for him to fuck each of her holes. This is a great scene to finish things up with. Buttman Comics Presents: Vault of Whroes is a very nicely done sequel. It keeps much the format of the original as well as the sex one comes to expect from Evil Angel. There isn’t a bad scene in the movie, or even a bad sequence for that matter, but picking a favorite scene would be very tough. Kaylynn’s scene would probably be my least favorite, and I think that might be due to the amount of gyno-cam action in the group scene. All that, however, is far from the big picture on Vault of Whores. To start with, this is the first movie David Lord or Tricia Devereaux directed, and to do something of this scale this well for their virgin movie is more than a little impressive. That said, they have plenty of talent behind them, such as master videographers Jonni Darkko, Nic Andrews, and the one and only John “Buttman” Stagliano, as well as plenty of great talent in front of the camera to help them reach their full directorial potential. There’s also plenty of production values, with every set appearing perfect for the scene rather than trying to use the comic book setup as an excuse to do things cheap and cheesy. In fact, I think the main thing that held Vault of Whores back getting the full five stars is my expectations for the movie. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a movie like I did with Buttman Comics Presents: Tales From the Crack, and because of that I couldn’t help but go into Vault of Whores really hoping for something just as good. In many ways it was, but the humor aspect wasn’t here quite as much, and I think the male talent was just a little weaker as well. Compared to most everything else out there, however, Buttman Comics Presents: Vault of Whores is one heck of a great release.

The Extra Stuff

Not surprisingly, Evil Angel went all out on extras for this release. To start things off, there’s an autobiography for John Stagliano. In addition to a cast listing by scene, filmographies are included for Taryn Thomas, Katja Kassin, Dillan Lauren, Kaylynn, Naudia Nice, Vicky Vette, Sammie Rhodes, Hillary Scott, Courtney Simpson, Sunny Lane, Vanessa Lane, and Victoria Sin. There’s also an audio commentary, website information, a background on The Evil Empire, and a little information about Buttman Magazine on the first DVD.

Directors Tricia Devereaux and David Lord, aka Crawdaddy with Production Manager Jim Crawford, team up for the audio commentary. They talk about everything that comes to their mind as they make the movie, from picking up props and shooting the scenes to their thoughts on the sex acts in the movie. Of course there’s several laughs as well as some teasing back and forth that’s nicely balanced with some very good credit being shared on the movie. They even expand things by doing things calling up Kaylynn on the phone and trying to get Taryn Thomas on the phone. It’s a great commentary that once again shows that the more people you put together for a commentary, the better the commentary will probably be. David, Jim, and Tricia make this a track worth listening to if you’re at all curious about the movie.

The second DVD is completely devoted to extras. There are several behind the scenes featurettes including interviews and casting sequences. Extended sequences are included as well as bloopers. Finally there’s cumshot recaps, photo galleries, and commercials, with the commercials being the only part of the entire release that doesn’t get an anamorphic transfer.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts just under an hour, and nicely identifies most of the players as they take the screen. It nicely works day by day, which is also scene by scene. You get a great feel for the amount of effort put into the production values with some of the sets being built and the makeup being done for the Hell scene as well as the size of the crew that was needed to pull the movie off. Although there’s a little of the scenes being shot, it’s kept to being just that and instead focuses on all the things going on behind the scenes rather than just showing you scenes you already watched with the addition of a guy holding a camera. You get Crawdaddy and Tricia setting things up and working with the cast to get the scenes right as well as having some fun between takes. It also gives a great feel for how talented David Lord shows just how wise John Stagliano was to team him up with the lovely Tricia Devereaux to make this movie. This is a very nicely done behind the scenes feature, and does a great job of giving what seems like a very good feel for the making of the movie.

Vicky Vette fans should be very pleased. The extended masturbation scene for Vicky lasts about five minutes. You get a little extra footage of Vicky and the guys in the grocery store, with Vicky giving a very nice strip and a little show with the help of the produce. The interview with Vicky lasts about three and a half minutes. She talks about her life before porn and some of the sexual tension in the office she worked at before talking about splitting her life between porn valley and the mountains. She even talks about spelling her name. It’s a nice little interview that’s definitely worth checking out if you enjoy Vicky.

It’s All About the Cheerleaders lasts twenty minutes. David and Tricia start out letting Sammie know that they’re going to bring in a professional choreographer to do the cheer so they can give everybody DVDs and they can show up on set prepared. The choreographer’s video is included next, with her going through the cheer several times at various speeds with plenty of tips of things to pay attention to. There’s a few comments from Tricia Devereaux thrown in here and there as well before things move on with the one and only rehearsal. After the girls jump and cheer a little, Tricia has to run off and thankfully leaves Buttman with the camera to help out. Of course he checks out the girls, but then he also gets an amusing realization (as long as it’s happening to somebody else). Finally, there’s the final form that appeared in the movie. It’s a very different behind the scenes featurette, but it’s also a great inclusion for just that reason. Of course, with a cheer as fun as the one they used here and a hot blonde and cheerleaders dancing around, it’s kind of hard to dislike it.

Green Screens lasts twelve minutes, and features some of the outtakes from the wrestling scene. Christian gets a little caveman coaching from David Lord before Talon works on the Disco Inferno. Dillan also works on her primadonna actress before David coaches a couple of the smaller performers. It’s a great behind the scenes featurette with plenty of chuckles.

The casting featurette lasts almost nineteen minutes. Each girl introduces themselves as they head in, and if their suitcase pimp comes along he gets to introduce himself too. Tricia lets the girls know about the movie and does a few lines with them as David works as the camera monkey. There’s plenty of cheerleader fun, as well as David having fun with Gia Jordan’s card, followed by a bit of Hell and the grocery store. Finally, you get to see a few of the girls as they appear in the movie as well as a couple reactions to being told they’re in the movie.

The blooper reel lasts seven minutes. There’s plenty of flubbed lines and a few things interfering with the shoot such as flies and costumes not acting like they should. You even get to see David Lord showing how things should go. It’s a nice little blooper reel.

Five photo galleries are included, with about three seconds per very good looking snapshot for each gallery. Star Pix give photo galleries for Courtney Simpson, Dillan Lauren, Hillary Scott, Katja Kassin, Kaylynn, Naudia Nyce, Sammie Rhodes, Sunny Lane, Taryn Thomas, Vanessa Lane, Vicky Vette, and Victoria Sin which last between about twenty seconds and a minute and a half. Production lasts ten minutes, and covers photos from the main movie, with Behind the Scenes including seven minutes of photos from the making of the movie and the stars hanging out. Casting lasts about four and a quarter minutes, and includes the photos taken of the stars at the casting call. Finally, Artwork From the Vault lasts about two minutes and features artwork by John Howard (who co-directed Buttman Comics Presents: Tales From the Crack) as well as some early sketches and artwork and designs from the movie. It’s a very nice collection of photo galleries, and should have some of everything for anybody who enjoys them. My only complaint about them is that the screens that break apart the artwork gallery to tell you what each section is goes by as fast as the photo galleries so if you blink you’re probably going to miss it.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most of Evil Angel’s DVDs can be found online for between about $18 and $30, with a few stores offering them in the $20 range. This one’s well worth the money. If the hot sex and high production values aren’t enough, there’s more than a full DVD full of extras and a third disc with the movie in HD. This is a kick ass release!
