Bride On The Run Review

With films like "Dark Garden" and "Bliss" showing up on DVD, complete with director's commentaries and "making of featurettes," VCA has done a commendable job releasing high profile prestige projects in today's porn market. Directors like Antonio Passolini and Michael Ninn are among the very few filmmakers who actually employ mood and atmosphere as a backdrop for good old athletic sucking and fucking, and the results are exceptional, solid erotic films as opposed to assembly-line porn vids.

However, the formulaic, shot-on-videotape pornos which were so prevalent in the late eighties and nineties can often be equally arousing, despite their cheesy looks or cliched plots; it just all depends on a competent director, and hot performers. BRIDE ON THE RUN, a recent VCA release, fits that exact bill. Directed by veteran pornographer Fred Lincoln, this movie is a formulaic, unpretentious video which I found surprisingly satisfying and even refreshing. Dispensing with computer special effects or any unique set designs (unless you consider the back of a limousine to be especially exotic), Lincoln tells a trite tale of a Russian bride (played predictably by Nikita) who has to get away from being married to the mob. This tongue-in-chick plot only serves to introduce sexual encounter after sexual encounter --- which is fine by me!

Nikita starts off things with a bang by getting it on with the chauffer in the back of her limousine. Despite the cramped quarters, her trademark reverse cowgirl bump and grind always makes for fun watching. Foreign-import Nikita has always been a technically proficient performer, but I have never sensed much passion in her scenes (maybe it's a cultural thing). In this movie, however, she is cast in two girl-guy scenes with Evan Stone, and later Mickey G., and also shares a lesbian tryst with the stunning Alexandria Silk. Nikita gives in to anal sex with Mickey at the conclusion of the film, and she sucks off Evan in an expert fashion while in the limousine, but she is upstaged by Alexandria Silk, who participates in two memorable scenes. While Nikita is given top billing, the other actresses deserve equal recognition, with special attention given to Alexandria Silk.

Ms. Silk, with her long brown hair and pretty, but not showy, appearance is already a terrific screen presence on this video, but it is her sex skills which really shine. She performs an absolutely scorching blowjob while paired with Evan Stone in a hot-tub, whom she teases then pleases with an intensity that made me sit up and stand up at attention. She also opens up to anal sex with an enthusiastic willingness matched only by Juli Ashton in her best movies. Despite the use of condoms in this scene (indeed, in every scene as mandated by VCA standards), I found her attack on Mr. Stone to be mesmerizing. Her following scene with the star of the show is also excellent, but I was disappointed by the lack of longer kissing scenes and just a little more feminine tenderness (the weak link in this girl-girl encounter was definitely not Alexandria). Obviously, this is an actress who has not gotten the accolades she deserves, and now everytime I reach for a video, I look for her name on the box cover.

Peroxide blonde Maya Divine also surprised me with her slow, wet oral skills on lucky bastard Eric Masterson. At first, I was none too impressed by what stereotypically concluded as another blonde porno bimbo, but she proved me wrong and taught me again not to generalize based on first impressions. Again condoms are all-too evident in their coupling, but her great attitude makes them almost negligible. The weakest scene in the whole film involves brunette Ginger Paige and a grotesquely tattoo-ed Jack Hammer, who also have sex in a car. Much of the camera work is performed through the outside window, which is a bit distracting, but there really isn't that much to watch in the first place. Clearly, if you have the time to watch this scene, do yourself a favor and skip it for a repeat of Alexandria Silk's superb skills in the art of fellatio.

The extras on this DVD are average for most blue movie releases: you get the familiar Photo Gallery, which is really just a bunch of still frames from the movie, and a short-cut menu of the stars and their scenes accessible on the disc. The DVD jacket is a humorously composed shot of Nikita in a wedding dress riding out on a moped, which nicely conveys the tone of this simple little video, which is still hot as hell.

I recommend this movie for the viewer who wants good to great sex without being weighed down by plot or atmosphere in a VCA release.
