Review:
Kidnapped and indoctrinated into the pervy ways of an affluent sex club, a young woman finds herself the unwitting subject and star of a hardcore stage show in "Behind the Green Door", a 1972 release from the Mitchell Brothers. A true classic of adult cinema if ever there were one, this production features one of the most stunning (and natural) stars of the Golden Age, the original Ivory Snow girl herself...Marilyn Chambers (RIP). While a bit on the short side and--at times--not as hardcore as later, more formulaic releases, this flick possesses a distinct innocence and charm, the likes of which has been largely lost over the ensuing decades. Indeed, the nostalgic and historical value of this production can't be understated, nor can its profound impact upon the evolution of adult films. Of course, it doesn't hurt that there's plenty of hot sex to take in, as well.
In terms of the sex, Scene One offers up the unknowing star of the show, Marilyn Chambers, as she's brought out on stage by six, black-robed women. Marilyn's white garb is quickly discarded...revealing her beautiful, natural body...and the ladies go to work on her. They caress her, kiss her, eat her out, and simply envelope her...all as a lead-in to the ensuing sequence.
Scene Two is a continuation of the last, with the ladies giving way to Johnnie Keyes, who makes his dark, bass-driven entrance. Cock out on full display and ready to go, Johnnie takes Marilyn in front of the horny--though quietly intent--masses. He plunges her with his ebony rod for a short time before (presumably) finishing in her (...softcore on the orgasms and much of the action...).
In Scene Three, Marilyn is carried by the ladies back out on stage after a very brief respite. There waiting for her are four gentlemen in crotchless, white tights, three of whom are perched atop suspended trapeze equipment. Ms. Chambers sucks one, jerks two, and rides the other. At this juncture, the crowd (...as sophisticated as its members may appear...) begins to take care of business, as well. A full-blown orgy ensues, with a wide variety of body types and sexual proclivities on display. Ultimately, Marilyn is the recipient of slow-motion cum-shots set to a foreboding and somewhat discordant musical score. A couple of them target her face, and other ladies in the assembled multitude also take pops, as well. Much of the ejaculation action is captured in a multi-colored, artsy fashion, so it's difficult to fully keep track of who's getting glopped up by whom, but the proceedings remain hot, nonetheless.
Scene Four finds Marilyn blowing, riding, and being taken by George S. McDonald in the proverbial "happy-ending" fuck. With soft and sweet, then upbeat, music setting the tone and a black backdrop highlighting the action, the pair pounds out the production with true passion.
In all, this highly recognizable classic from the Golden Age of adult films certainly lives up to its reputation, even more than 40 years after its initial release. With the timeless Marilyn Chambers cast in its starring role and the noteworthy (...and, ultimately, notorious...) Mitchell Brothers behind the camera, none of this should really strike anyone as surprising. For those who find themselves nostalgic for the good old days of porn's yesteryear, who are fans of Ms. Chambers or the Mitchell Brothers, or who are simply looking to deepen their adult film experience, this one is still worth checking out.
(Also, be sure to check out the 2013 Paul Thomas and Brooklyn Lee "reboot" / "sequel", "The New Behind the Green Door", as well. It's a modern classic that ties in with the storyline of this film and is certainly not to be missed. Marilyn's daughter, McKenna, was also involved in the casting.)
