Arcade (Vivid) Review

Vivid Girl Jenteal, Melissa Hill and Alexandra Silk decide to raid their local video store but end up sucking and fucking everyone inside of Le Sex Shoppe in ARCADE (1998, Vivid) with Ralph Parfait on camera and directing. This 63 minute gem in standard frame and with condom usage makes great use of its video store locale in telling what's ultimately a rather strange but oddly satisfying porn tale.

ARCADE'S first half follows The Kid (Jake Steed) inside the open 24 hour video store where he meets up with the clerk (Tony Tedeschi, in an over-the-top performance, playing an Arabic guy speaking broken English) who gives him tokens for the video viewing booths instead of change for his dollar.

The Kid takes a seat in his booth and soon finds he's watching the trio of lovely females (Jenteal, Melissa and Alexandra) plotting their raid on the video store with a break for a girl/girl/girl three-way awash in red light. He clicks to different vid channels and lands on channel with a seated and masturbating porn star (Rebecca Wild) and soon sees himself fucking Rebecca on an old sofa piece on a stage in front of some sort of screen with a lame light show projected onto it. Steed and Wild fuck in a few straight sex positions that hit a high note with the finale-a semi-pile driver with Rebecca hanging off the front of the sofa that leads to Steed titty-fucking Wild and leaving a pearl necklace with his cum shot.

ARCADE's second half quickly turns into a wild three scene encounter that keeps switching from one encounter to the next.

Now sporting commando gear and wielding weapons, Jenteal, Melissa and Alexandra storm Le Sex Shoppe where Melissa finds her hubby (John Dough) has been wasting a few too many of their quarters in the video booths. Alexandra follows The Kid to the Men's Room to guard him and Jenteal follows the clerk to a darkened room with the video monitors that play for the booths. Cue the sex scenes with Alexandra's reach-around hand job leading to straight sex and anal sex with Jake on and around the toilet, Jenteal landing in a chair for a straight sex encounter with Tony that has the video monitors playing in the background and Mellissa bending over in the magazine section for a wonderful straight sex encounter ending with Dough shooting his ample load into the mouth of a kneeling Melissa on the tile floor among the store's merchandise.

A guy brings back a used fuck doll to the clerk while the other couples exit out the vid store, which leaves Jenteal to decide what she should do next.

Give writer Guillermo Brown (whoever that is?) for constructing this strange little flick into the two halves then incorporating the video store to his advantage in terms of the sex scenes. Sure, more could have been done here on the creative front but ARCADE has so much going for it including the well-shot sex scenes that all climax together so-to-speak. Ralph Parfait does a fine job of capturing Alexandra's wonderful back side, Mellissa's cowgirl ride in the middle of the store is also terrific and, of course, Jenteal is her usual gorgeous self.

Using the indoor environs of Le Sex Shoppe pushes this standard frame video presentation up a notch. This place looks a heckuvalot like a French Quarter vid shop that I had frequented back in the day-then, the big boxed vids then the DVDs disappeared in favor of sex toys and a sea of other erotic gear.

So, ARCADE (1998, Vivid) gets a huge 'A' for originality so check it out if you are in the mood for something a bit different from this by-the-numbers stuff parading as today's porn.
