The Movie

The 15th volume of Impulse Pictures' 42nd Street Forever: The Peep Show Collection line brings another 15 loops from the days when 16mm grinder loops, that were essentially all sex scenes, were shot on film and then sold on 8mm and Super 8mm film for viewing at home via a projector. Many were silent, some had sound. If a loop actually had a set up it was fast and to the point to get to the sex.

As for the loops in this compilation themselves, they originally came from many different collections, for those that I could identify. All of the loops presented here are silent, and from those that I could find the heritage for, were originally sold as silent loops. A few have brief set ups, but most of the loops in the compilation start with the sex without an attempt at a set up for the scene.

Impulse Pictures has broken up the loops on the compilation so that there are five standard boy/girl scenes, five scenes with three or more people, and five lesbian scenes. There is some variety to the scenes included on the release. As can be expected for a compilation such as this one, some of the scenes are better than others but with 15 scenes on the release, it can afford to have some crummier ones. The ability to watch all the scenes one after another, or select a specific loop is available from the menu.

For some of the loops included in the compilation I was unable to identify the original heritage of the loop. From the Candy Girls series is &dlquo; At Home With the Girls” (CG 143), with Carrie Evans and Laurie Smith. From the Diamond Collection series are “In the Barn” (JC 179), with Jesse Adams, and “Western Fox” (JC 271), with Linda Shaw and Herschel Savage. From the Erotic Dimensions series is “Lesbian Ass Fucker,” (ED 53), with Liza Dwyer. From the Erotic Erotica series is “Dancing Fingers” (11), with Connie Peterson from 1978. From the Hustler series is “Spin the Bottle” (H 5), with Herschel Savage. From the Impressions series is “Marsha's Huge Tits” (IMP 110), with Marcia Zina Mager and Eric Edwards. From the Limited Edition series is “Tongues and Fingers” (LTD 123), with Jane Lindsay and Serena. From the Lovemates series is “The Athlete” (LM 10). From the Possessed series is “Beth and Tina's Ball” (P 9), with Beth Anna, Tina Russell, and Roger Caine. From the Roger Rimbaud Production series is “Rising Reader” (RR 53), with Lauri Noel, Denise Berrison, and Ron Jeremy. From the Seductress series is “Smooth & Pink” (SS 29), with Hillary Summers and Kristara Barrington from 1983. From the Tenill Presents series are “The Dinner Party” (T 29), with Elizabeth, and “Trading Favors” (T 40), with Veri Knotty and Jon Martin. The loop that is included that I couldn't identify the heritage of is a loop bearing no name.

A big thank you goes out to the fine people at the Adult Loop Database; without their excellent database far less of these loops would have identifications.

The Edition

A release such as Impulse Pictures' 42nd Street Forever: The Peep Show Collection Volume 15 is hard to rate when it comes to aspects such as the video and audio qualities. The compilation consists of 15 different loops, each originating from different source material. As a result the video quality varies from loop to loop. The entire presentation is in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and is presented in 480p. As can be expected there is grain, artifacts, and print damage present in all the loops. Some are in better shape than others are however all the loops are in decent shape with several on the lower end of acceptable.

42nd Street Forever: The Peep Show Collection Volume 15 is presented with a Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural track of projector noise only. For the loops that I can identify the heritage of, they were all silent to start out with and it is likely that the loops that I couldn't identify the heritage of were as well. The projector sound does get grating after a while. It would have been a nice aspect if a royalty free music track had been included as well as an option to the projector sound.

Impulse Pictures has only included one extra with the release. There is a booklet with a talk about Serena's participation in loops in general by Serena. What the release is missing is a booklet on the loops included within the set, which shouldn't have been that hard for Impulse Pictures to have made. I was able to identify the heritage of 14 of the 15 loops without the source material.

Final Thoughts

42nd Street Forever: The Peep Show Collection Volume 15 is a decent compilation of loops from back when they were shot on 16mm film and released on 8mm film for home viewing. As can be expected from a compilation such as this, some of the loops are far better than others. Impulse Pictures has done a decent job with the release, all of the loops included are in good shape but unfortunately the only identification they have been given is their original name. If you like the old 8mm grinders, you will find a lot to like here.
