review from 3/26/2019:
Wild Oats is, honestly, a disappointing movie from Toby Ross. Wild Oats is, for all intents and purposes, an all sex movie that suffers from being a generic product from the video age of adult entertainment. Wild Oats doesn't offer the viewer anything special or unique and blends in with every other product being cheaply and quickly churned out at the time. Toby Ross and BDF have done an adequate job with their streaming-only edition of Wild Oats with acceptable video quality and good sound quality. [read the full review]

Although the pre-condom FADE OUT doesnt have a sensational set piece like its companion film FADE IN that featured Jon King in a huge spider web, its still more than worthy of a transfer to DVD. Both were the work of Terry Le Grand and David Earl who produced some unique and wonderful films in the pre-condom era that were always delightfully imbued with humor and camp. The star of FADE OUT is a cute young blond called Chris Allen. Little Chris was one of the first performers I ever saw who had a foreskin. (My best friend had one, but thats another story.) Watching the film again after all these years I realize I still have a thing for Chris. The film begins with Chris going to a fortuneteller played by Mark Edwards, a plump old queen who often appeared in these films. Out comes the Tarot cards and with each card we get a sex scene. Before each scene theres a cloud of dry ice and we see a naked Chris walking into the cloud. (What an ass this kid had!) After this the scenes begin. The first card is The Hermit. This leads to a solo jack off by David Ashfield. [read the full review]

review from 2/3/2004:
One of the practices these days is for producers to dig up an old VHS from the pre-condom days, dust it off, and put it on DVD. Some of these are fabulous gems. Others are rhinestones. Still others are rocks that would have been best forgotten. This one belongs in the second category. There are some legendary performers here. Some others are fantasies in flesh. But the sex is by the numbers and the whole thing rather lukewarm. Our host for the proceedings is Steve Wright, a hunky performer who appeared in way too few flicks. (Check out the back cover of the DVD. Thats Steve. Humpy, huh?) Naked on the bed, Steve strokes his hefty dick as he tells us about the goings on in his apartment building. Pierce Daniels, whose bushy mustache made him seem somewhat weasel-like, spies Chad Douglas (another mustachioed slab of beef) coming up the outside stairs. (Thats Chad on the front cover, smiling. Something I never saw him do in any film. In them, he was always as glum as Boris Karloff on a bad day.) Pierce is wearing only a bathrobe and he flashes the newcomer. [read the full review]

A sadly disappointing film that attempts to bring back two legendary performers who should have remained in retirement. [read the full review]

review from 5/24/2002:
This film is a historical curiosity in that it is one of the first (if not THE first) gay porn films to stress safe sex. The A.I.D.S. epidemic was at its most terrifying, and the producers of this film wanted to show its audience that sex could be fun while safe. Well, its certainly safe, these guys wont even suck a cock unless its sealed up tight in an opaque condom. But its not much fun. The plot concerns two wrestling buddies who do an awful lot of crotch grabbing in their matches, and they sleep in the same bed but have never recognized the sexual nature of their relationship. High school is over and Gary (Pat Allen) is going into the army while Hal (William L. Kane) is going to grad school. They keep in touch through letters. One day in the gym, Hal gets Jon King to spot him. Jon shows Hal his cock and proceeds to kiss him while fucking him between the legs (frigging, I think English public schoolboys call it.). Jon comes on Hals leg. Its a case of cum on my leg and Ill follow you anywhere but Jon tells the awakened Hal, I have a boyfriend. [read the full review]
