It's the Korean War, times are difficult, and nothing passes the days better for a bored and homesick set of doctors and nurses at a medical camp than a slew of practical jokes and a hefty dose of pervy high-jinks. Such is the case in "Nurses of the 407", an exceptional, 1982 release from I-Candy and director Tony Kendrick.

"Nurses of the 407", a film from the Golden Age of Yesteryear is really not that great of a film, but worth getting for the audio commentary alone (I actually recommend watching the film with the commentary over watching it without).

Here is another porn film that follows the time-honored convention of parodying a mainstream movie or television show. Shot on a soundstage in San Francisco in 1982, the movie has the look and feel of the hit seventies and early 80s TV show, M*A*S*H. In fact, the overhead footage at the beginning of the film is the same outdoor set built for the mainstream show. Paul Thomas plays the Hawkeye character, called Jaybird, and Joey Silvera plays the Radar character. The female lead, hot hips Henderson, is played by Jessie St. James, who looks remarkably like hot lips Hoolihan. St. James does a remarkable acting job, and even seems to have some of Loretta Swits style and mannerisms. Unfortunately, this films close similarity to the show it is parodying is about the only thing it has going for it. The sex scenes are brief, a couple of them lack money shots, the women are average in the looks department, and the script is lame.

What can be said about N*U*R*S*E*S of the 407th? It's a classic adult film from the end of the golden age of adult entertainment and possibly the best parody of M*A*S*H ever created. From the moment the film starts to when the final credits run, this film entertains you on all levels. Not only is this a great adult film, but it could stand alone without the sex as a comedy. I-Candy has done a good job with their DVD release of N*U*R*S*E*S of the 407th.

"When you got somethin' this good, you share it with your friends." Jaybird (Paul Thomas) tells John (Jon Martin) about Hot Hips (Jesie St. James) This sums up Nurses of the 407th. This is one of the best adult spoofs I have ever seen. It spoofs MASH with the same plot and acting as the late sitcom. In fact, the acting and plot are probably better than most of the sitcoms on TV today. I know I laughed more watching this as I do at most sitcoms. Herschel Savage is a riot as a patient who gets in worse condition the longer he stays in the hospital. Jesie St. James has a hilarious solo scene sweet talking her dildo (Mr. Penis), and is one of the hottest adult film stars I have ever seen. It's sad that she disappeared from the adult film scene so quickly. The makers of the movie went very much for production values. There are many extras who we never even see in a sex scene, as well as not every scene has a cum shot. Normally I always want to have a 'big finish' to each sex scene, but in Nurses of the 407th, it doesn't detract from the movie.
