Prologue When this title was announced, I had an immediate interest in it. I don't think it's a groundbreaking concept, as I believe that Shane's World, Sex Across America, Misty Cam, and even Nacho Vidal's gathering of stars before shoots all fall into the same vein. It can also be seen as an episode of Real World done without censors. Still, it's a good idea, and could bear the fruit of a good gonzo. These people are all pornstars, and as such, know that they're expected to have sex, so I don't think there's going to be too much suspense about "will they or won't they". The cast here is filled with women I don't know much about, with the exception of Keeani Lei. The goofy Hawaiian could be a comic wild card here and prove to be a lot of fun in this casual environment. I've heard a lot about Joanna Angel and am anxious to see her in action. Saana is a hot Finn, but not featured prominently on the cover.

The Circumstances A couple of years ago Tristan Taormino did a couple of anal sex instruction videos together with John Stagliano; one thing that stood out in them was how good Tristan was at coaching people, making them relaxed and playful with the result that the sex scenes in these videos were surprisingly good. Now shes back and the premise is simple: put a bunch of porn stars together in a house for a few days and see what happens. Quite a lot, as it turns out. Two of them, the real-life couple Justin and Jezebelle, are having problems in their relationship and leaves prematurely, possibly breaking up. Talon and Saana are brought in as reinforcements, but only arrive in time for the final scene. In the meantime, the others have been chatting about sex and, above all, having it. The Sex There are five main sex scenes. One gets the feeling that there was more sex going on, but these five are still more than enough. The first one is between Joanna Angel and Scott Nails in the bathroom.

With House of Ass Tristan Taormino has accomplished her stated goal handily: shes created pornography you can enjoy on an intellectual level and will almost certainly spend hours discussing with friends but which can (and will) just as certainly get you off. Whats so compelling about the film is the way in which Taormino ignores the trend toward exploitative faux reality porn wherein guys trick girls into blowing them for money in the backs of vans to create real reality porn. Taormino uses a loose documentary style that takes us back to the vibe of the first season of The Real World when reality TV seemed, for a brief and flickering moment, like it might actually matter. Like the best documentaries this film draws you into its story, makes you care about its characters (who are, in this case, all attractive enough for a lesser director to simply exploit sexually without context) and, amazingly, actually gets you invested in the sex they have. When Joanna Angel and Mr. Marcus finally have their much-hyped sex scene it isnt simply about her great tits or the size of his dick.
