The Circumstances
A couple of years ago Tristan Taormino did a couple of anal sex instruction videos together with John Stagliano; one thing that stood out in them was how good Tristan was at coaching people, making them relaxed and playful – with the result that the sex scenes in these videos were surprisingly good. Now she’s back and the premise is simple: put a bunch of porn stars together in a house for a few days and see what happens. Quite a lot, as it turns out. Two of them, the real-life couple Justin and Jezebelle, are having problems in their relationship and leaves prematurely, possibly breaking up. Talon and Saana are brought in as reinforcements, but only arrive in time for the final scene. In the meantime, the others have been chatting about sex and, above all, having it.

The Sex
There are five main sex scenes. One gets the feeling that there was more sex going on, but these five are still more than enough. The first one is between Joanna Angel and Scott Nails in the bathroom. Joanna confesses that when she was a geek in high school there was a jock she had a crush on and it’s been a fantasy of her to have sex with that type of guy ever since. Scott fits the bill quite well (he at least likes to appear as an arrogant asshole) and the sex is a bit aggressive as if they don’t really like each other but still like to fuck each other. The second scene is a lesbian one between Sarah Blake and Justine Joli out on the balcony. The two are really into each other and Tristan lends them an assortment of toys to try out. We then get two scenes with Mr. Marcus, one with Keeani Lei and one with Joanna. The one with Keeani is quite darkly lit, taking place on a rug in front of a fireplace. Visually, this scene is a real treat and has somewhat of a romantic vibe to it, although Keanni’s vocal efforts are a bit too much of Porn 101. Joanna’s scene on the other hand is sort of tender and hard at the same time; she and Marcus have very good chemistry together. She has some difficulties at first in taking him anally, but he is gentle with her and soon they are both very much into it. Finally, there is a long orgy scene which starts out all-girl and then evolves into a couple of b/g pairings fucking next to each other.

The Verdict
What above all makes this different from most gonzo is that even if the sex is far from vanilla, the women are not treated like mere fuck toys that are first paraded in front of the camera like cattle and then stuffed with cock. What it shares with early gonzo is the playfulness and sense of spontaneity that can, at least at times, bring not just heat, but warmth to the action. And that is a rare thing in porn! It is not a perfect flick in every way, the audio is sometimes a bit unbalanced and the casting of the men could have been better (as things stand now, Marcus is the only one that really hits it off with the girls). But, then again, real gonzo never is perfect; it can however still be excellent and that’s precisely what this is.
