Review brief: It takes something pretty special to capture my attention nowadays. So, I'd like to share three reasons why I'm so keen on The Truth About O. (1) The relationships feel thoroughly real. (2) The audiovisual quality is admirable. (3) The sexual action flows smoothly in the direction of increasing intensity. There's a veritable constellation of kink. Claire's gorgeous shibari work shines foremost. Also included: a lit-up, wicked-looking fucking machine several pieces of novel sculptural furniture for bondage a suction machine whipping by floggers and by crop spanking by hand a satisfying selection of toys such as electric vibrators, a transparent buttplug, nipple clamps, and tasteful yet oh-so-naughty lingerie and fetishwear and a general plethora of sexual activity from vigorous anal poundings of the type best left to the professionals, to the flirtatious simple pleasures of dressing and undressing. The donning of the ballet booties in the third scene is especially nice.

Review brief: Ah, the halcyon days of VCA features. How I miss them. As is typical for the movies I've seen from that not-long-ago era, Fountain of Innocence is a beautiful multi-camera production, attractively lit, skillfully edited, and boasting excellent sound that's enhanced by carefully selected music. The views of the sex are explicit yet pretty. The costumes are a hoot: the perfect swizzle of elegance and tackiness, just right for a porno about a porno. Ron Jeremy stars as a director who's taping History of the Sex World: Part 2. Taren Steele plays an aspiring actress who's about to perform for the first time. Our nervous heroine receives friendly advice and reassurance from a trio of hot blonde veterans: Juli Ashton, Shayla LaVeaux, and Nina Hartley. The conversational flow is pleasingly uncontrived. It sounds as though the performers are discussing their real and very positive experiences in the industry. It all leads to a happy heap of flesh by the swimming pool.

Review brief: I've never been pregnant and probably never will be. Nonetheless, I believe that Nina Hartley's Guide to Great Sex During Pregnancy is the pinnacle of this series to date. The logistical obstacles to assembling this production surely must've been daunting. And yet, the result looks completely easy and natural. It's informative and erotic and classy and...dare I say...moving. If you have any interest in this topic whatsoever, this is the DVD you need. It will be a long time, if ever, before anyone surpasses what's been achieved here.

The sole local protester is quickly seduced.

The locations (a bedroom, living room, and dungeon playroom) are pleasantly quiet, so there's no difficulty hearing or understanding the dialog. Ernest and Ilsa's discussion segments appear to have been taped at a different timethe technical quality is lower, but still adequate. Ratings note: Fetish FAQ is an instructional series which contains very little conventional sex, so the standard ratings for "Sex" and "Plot" don't quite fit.

In fact, the Buck's Beaver interviewer mentions seeing one of those movies. Whatever. If I were to deduct points every time I read hyperbole on an adult movie box cover, I doubt I'd ever award any five-star ratings. Audio/visual quality: The videography is disappointing. The problems are most apparent in the cringe-inducing second scene. The camera operator appears to be either (a) unfamiliar with the equipment or (b) higher than a weather balloon.

Extras: None, except a short-and-sweet "thank you" message from Buck at the end. Audio/visual quality: The technical quality is typical of an amateur DVD. It's a single-camera production and thus not very glossy, but it does have the fun feel of a home movie. Some angles are a little odd during the handheld camera maneuvering. The opening credits look unusually nice, and edits are not overly frequent. The sound is good. There are sometimes small noises in the background, but I can hear and understand all dialog. The second scene mixes in intervals of hard rock music, and third scene includes rock playing on location at an inoffensive volume. Notes on the packaging: RobHammer's review states that his disc arrived without cover art. That puzzles me, but his copy might've been a complimentary screener.
