Audio/visual quality: The technical quality is typical of an amateur DVD. It's a single-camera production and thus not very glossy, but it does have the fun feel of a home movie. Some angles are a little odd during the handheld camera maneuvering. The opening credits look unusually nice, and edits are not overly frequent. The sound is good. There are sometimes small noises in the background, but I can hear and understand all dialog. The second scene mixes in intervals of hard rock music, and third scene includes rock playing on location at an inoffensive volume.

Notes on the packaging: RobHammer's review states that his disc arrived without cover art. That puzzles me, but his copy might've been a complimentary screener. I ordered mine directly from transexual-man.com just prior to the publication of Rob's review, and it did come in a standard case with an insert. My version also has a jump-to-scene menu with ten chapters, which wasn't previously mentioned. The disc is a DVD-R and plays fine in my Sony machine.

Performers' appearance: If you haven't seen disrobed female-to-male (FTM) transsexuals before (and I hadn't prior to this movie), the genitals of these particular FTMs are not surgically altered, but instead resemble enlarged, swollen clitorises. With regard to overall appearance, Bear Bud and slave b are "regular guys." Buck Angel and Kitty are both very alternative—they're bald, and they sport extensive and unique tattoos all over their bodies. Kitty is also clearly passionate about piercing. She has five tongue barbells, eight labia rings, one clit ring, double nipple rings, multiple pieces of face and ear jewelry, and little sparkling gems tucked into her cheek dimples. Now, I'm rather fascinated by this. It's difficult to rate these looks, however, since they're well outside the porn "norm" (a standard I've never liked anyhow, but I know lots of people do). So I've basically split the difference, putting the looks ratings in the 2.5–3 star categories. I personally find the performers more attractive than that, but feel free to visit Buck's websites and decide for yourself.

Highlights:

Scene 1 Buck Angel and Kitty find a nice spot for naughtiness in the woods. There's a comfortable, caring rapport between this real-life couple. She calls him "Daddy," and he casually chews gum and grins like the luckiest man in the world. Kitty gives a blow job to Buck's dildo cock, and they use it to screw in two positions. They trade the camera between his and her points of view, which I absolutely love. As the scene progresses, I'm increasingly anxious to see Buck's real cock. It's finally revealed near the end, when Kitty sucks him to orgasm. Time: 12:48. Rating: 4 stars.

Scene 2 Bear Bud and Kitty pair up briefly in this hotel scene, but it's mostly Bear's show. He's a cute FTM—hairy and a bit portly, as his name might suggest. Bear wears a t-shirt over his bound chest, but he isn't shy about exposing his synthetic dick and real mangina. He fingers himself and uses a hot tugging technique for his baby cock. Scene 4 Buck Angel is still aroused out in the woods. He glances around to make sure the coast is clear, shakes out his bag of toys and lube, and comes quicksmart (twice, I think) in the grass. Buck is incredibly sexy and charismatic; the scene's just a bit short. He leaves me wanting even more. Time: 5:30. Rating: 3.5 stars.

Thumbs up: For my birthday last year, I bought myself a tobacco pipe and this movie. Both have been delightful. The Adventures of Buck Naked covers much of the stuff I love best in porn, including male solos, a real couple, older stars (30s-40s), pansexuality, outdoor sex, and, of course, genderbending. I'm not so keen on BDSM, but the third scene is not overly edgy for my tenderhearted tastes. The "B" part of "BDSM" is the one part that appeals to me the most, so I find myself very curious about the bag.

Thumbs down: The technical aspects (mainly the camera angles) could use improvement in places, although I imagine it's always awkward to tape sex whilst doing it. The solo-duo-solo sequence of the second scene feels rather choppy—I would've enjoyed seeing Kitty hang around longer. The inclusion of extras (interviews or commentary) would've raised the overall rating by at least one-half star. Still, this movie looks quite good for a first effort. I like it well enough that it's one of only three dozen adult DVDs I've retained in my personal library since I started reviewing in 2001.

Condom use: Consistent. He doesn't preach about it, but Buck obviously cares about safer sex. Even the toys are protected (which I like, since I also use condoms that way in real life).

Juice-o-meter: High. Buck's solo was a strokable scene for me.

Final analysis: Buck Angel is a transman who fairly bursts with sexual confidence and charm. For this movie, he's also attracted an interesting and rather exotic cast. The transsexuality element definitely intrigues me, but I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy this DVD even if the performers were more mundanely gendered. The Adventures of Buck Naked has a great sense of playfulness that really speaks to my libido. I like this disc very much, and I look forward to seeing more of Buck in the future.
