Initial Expectations: Fred Lincoln has rarely impressed me, but with Julia Ann here I’m willing to give it a chance.

Initial Reaction: For Fred Lincoln, it’s dang good. The cast does a great job with the sex and a nicely done script, but the camera work and editing hold it back some.

Who Should Watch It : Couples and anybody who likes a well written porno

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting nastier sex or top of the line camera work and editing

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is pretty clear and well balanced, but there are a few parts that feel a little hollow. The video has some slight grain and a few shadows, but looks better than most everything else out there. The shadows feel natural, and rarely draw away from the feature. Sadly, there’s a flash or two of remnants that detract a bit from the video.

Music: The music is a bit on the loud side, and fairly cheesy for the most part. It gives some scenes a fun feel that helps them, but holds others back. The music in the non-sex portions is done much better. It adds very well to the overall mood of the movie, and is at a very nice balance.

Menus: As usual, Wicked has put some great effort into their menus. The main menu looks as good or better than what you find on many DVDs from mainstream studios. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a scene number and a small clip of the scene.

The Feature: After getting sent to the nuthouse (yes, the technical term for the sanitarium) by her husband Eric Masterson so he can take her money, Julia Ann is finally able to go home again. As is only too common in today’s world, the doctor, Steven St. Croix, thinks she’s just fine, both dressed and undressed, and releases her. Unbeknownst to him, Julia’s been hiding her pills rather than taking them, and has more than a few plans when she gets out. Her dark side is still there, and it wants payback.

After waking her from a bad dream, T. J. Hart leads Julia Ann to her surprise going away party with Jezebelle Bond and Kristal Summers. The girls undress Julia so they can put her party clothes on. Since it’s her party, Julia is always in the middle or on top of things, and constantly gets her pussy worked on by T. J., Jezebelle, and their toys while sometimes giving Kristal a little loving. Sadly, the ending feels cut off. It doesn’t feel like all of the girls have come yet, and it also seems like there’s plenty yet to go in this scene. For a long time now I’ve felt that one of the best ways to tell a good director is if he can bring a lesbian scene to a satisfying finish, since there isn’t the pop shot to give away the ending. This might be one of the reasons Freddy Lincoln hasn’t impressed me too often. It’s too bad, since there’s some great chemistry going in the scene and the girls look like they’re having a great time.

Eric Masterson starts off the next scene with Jodi Moore doing a little dance for him, teasing his nipples, and giving him a short blowjob with some great eyes. Eric returns the favor by slowly tonguing her bald beaver before climbing up to fuck it. Jodi gets on top next, and after riding Eric solo a while, fingers her ass and puts a pink dildo in her poop chute. She finishes things up with a nice facial, and takes it in the mouth without blinking an eye. I really liked the addition of toys in a couples sex scene, which I think is all too rare in porn, but the camera work left a bit to be desired for me.

Janitor Brad Armstrong gets a little distractive loving from T. J. Hart, looking about as cute as I’ve ever seen her, in the next scene. She gives him some energetic knob gobbling before he returns the favor with some nice gash gobbling. T. J. starts out getting the mandatory reverse cowgirl out of the way before turning around to let Brad bone her beautiful butt. T. J. finishes things up taking Brad’s pop on her crack. It’s a pretty hot scene with nice energy, but once again, the camera work left a bit to be desired. At a few points the camera seemed most concerned with Brad’s nutsack, and other times it didn’t completely capture Brad and T.J. as they fuck. There’s some great potential in this scene, but sadly, a fair amount of it was wasted.

Julia heads over for some dick and a tattoo from Billy Glide in the next scene. They nicely exchange oral favors before moving into mish. Julia also lets Billy fuck her from behind, and takes his guy goo on her great ass to finish things up. It’s a very good scene, but as usual, the camera work holds things back. Any kind of distance shot during the fucking is done through the glass, and there’s a fair amount of reflection during the shots.

Next up, Steven St. Croix gives Tommi Rose a little special therapy during her session. He’s a little unsure at first, but quickly gives in at the thought of Tommi’s mouth around his manhood. Steven shows off his oral talents for Tommi after she works him over, and lets his tongue take care of both of her holes. Surprisingly, rather than just two positions, there’s the big three (doggie, reverse cowgirl, and missionary) before Steven showers Tommi with his dick droppings. It’s a good scene with surprisingly decent camera work and editing. Tommi’s head is still cut off fairly often, but after having it happen in this many scenes, it didn’t come as a surprise.

Finally, Julia, looking absolutely amazing in a black leather outfit, lets Eric Masterson know who’s really in control. She commands him to get his ass on the bed and makes him eat her pussy before riding him cowgirl style. They also get a little missionary work in, complete with Eric sucking Julia’s toes, before Julia gives Eric a very energetic blowjob with some impressive eyes. She finishes things up some great intensity and a decent facial that she doesn’t shy away from in the least. It’s a great scene to end the movie with and does a great job showing just why Wicked wanted Julia as a contract girl.

Wicked Whispers is a very good adult feature with a few faults. Sadly, all the faults lie at director Fred Lincoln’s feet. The talent does a great job, with Julia Ann and T. J. Hart really standing out and putting in some damn hot performances. The rest of the cast also does a great job with the non-sex portions, including a nice twist at the end. The main problem with the feature is the camera work and editing. It’s fairly common to have the stars’ head cut off, and there’s a bit too much of an emphasis on close-ups for my tastes. Despite these faults, I still can’t help but kinda like Wicked Whispers. It has a nice balance and some pretty hot performances, even if they are a little screwed up.

Several photo galleries are also included. The production gallery lasts about two and a quarter minutes, while the behind the scenes gallery lasts about a minute and a quarter. In each case, you get about four seconds per nice looking snapshot or full screen photo. Star galleries, most of which last about a minute and a half, are included for Julia Ann, T. J. Hart, Kristal Summers, Jezebelle, Bond, Tommi Rose, and Jodi Moore. Finally, for those interested in photo galleries, there’s the box cover shoot, which lasts about three minutes. It blends a couple short interviews about photo shoots and what’s going on with what’s basically a music video about the photo shoot for the box cover. It’s a very nice balance between the interviews and the photo shoot and makes a very nice extra. Of course, when it’s basically three minutes of looking at Julia Ann in various stages of undress, I have a hard time finding any problems.

Interviews are included with Julia Ann and Eric Masterson. Julia talks about why men need to receive anal sex if they’re going to give it and how people need to be more open to sex for about a minute and a half. Eric, who many might know as Mr. Wendy Divine, talks for two minutes about who some of his favorite people to work with are, his other job as well as his previous jobs, how he got in the business, and about Freddy Lincoln. They’re both very good interviews and very worth checking out.

Finally, there’s the twenty one minute All Access: The Making of Wicked Whispers show by Slammy and Wicked DVD Guru David Crawford. (According to the movie credits it’s both David and Slammy, but the featurette only credits Slammy.) As usual, everybody is nicely identified as they take the screen so you know who’s who in the feature. There’s a nice balance between the scenes being shot and Fred and the cast working together on getting things right. There’s also a bit of the photos being shot and more than a few quick interviews with the talent. As usual with Wicked’s behind the scenes featurettes, a lot of the fun around the set also gets captured. The only problems are a few shots that are more than a little dark and a few soft focus problems. It’s a nicely done behind the scenes feature that adds nicely to the overall DVD package.

Overall: Most of Wicked’s DVDs can currently be found online for between $20 and $27 with most stores offering them for around $24. Although it has a few problems, I’d still recommend Wicked Whispers. There’s some hot sex and very good acting, but the camera work left me a little disappointed. There’s also a very good transfer and nice extras. You’ll spend a couple extra bucks here compared to some other studios, but Wicked does a nice job of giving you more for your money.

Note to Wicked: Nice job, but I wish you’d have somebody help Fred Lincoln with his editing and camera work. On the other hand, I think you’ve brought out his best work with the features I’ve seen him shoot for you.
