In the mid-'70s, between lukewarm reviews for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Barry Lyndon, film critic John Simon had set out to review Damiano's THE STORY OF JOANNA; however, his review turned into an indictment of the xxx feature film industry of the time. Simon stated that "sexual activity is not all that photogenic and dramatic" and thus, "rightly or wrongly called perversions" like sadomasochism made their way into the xxx feature because S & M is "visually the most spectacular."

Proving his point, time and time again, is a new release from Kink.com entitled WHIPPED ASS. At nearly 2 1/2 hours, WHIPPED ASS is a way-above average lesbian BD (bondage) SM (sadomasochism) DVD with terrific encounters between Kirsten Price and Aiden Starr followed by Bonnie Day and Maitresse Madeline taking up 80 % of its running time. WHIPPED ASS unleashes a host of wild images and crafty situations on its journey down the BDSM highway.

The 30 minute opening scene with Penny Pax is BDSM light compared to the two that follow. Still, pretty Penny makes the DVD cover sleeve; on it, she's tied up around her knees and ankles, her tied arms suspended and hanging behind her, a head harness holding a ball gag in her mouth. Francesca Le and Ariel X administer the punishment, which appears to be plenty even with Penny's request for less corporal on her face and boobs at the outset. In one wacky segment, the not-so-worthless Penny licks Ariel's stocking covered foot. To conclude the encounter, Ariel has the bright idea to leave a vibrator lying across tied-up Penny's tummy with the device rubbing on her clit as the dynamic dominating duo exit---!!! 1/2

Kirsten Price wants to join the military but she must prove her worthiness to Aiden Starr, who early on declares to cohort Lorelei Lee, "we're gonna have to break her." Madeline uses this opportunity to gag Bonnie with her own undies, tie black tape around her mouth and eyes then prick around the nerve endings of her butthole with a very thin Pixie-stick-like pricking instrument---!!!!

Extras are scant but the closing remarks by the performers, typically BTS material on most DVDs, conclude each scene. Each submissive shows off her scars and Kirsten seems to sport the most marks; she even seems to proudly display those left on her "boobies". Anyhow, WHIPPED ASS (2013, Kink.com) really delivers the BDSM goods with this DVD. The set up for Kirsten's scene is fun with Aiden and Lorelei awaiting her arrival with an-ti-ci---pa-tion; these Kink.com scenes would all benefit from this type of set up at the outset of the actual BDSM stuff. Still, 4/5ths of this DVD is pretty terrific and Penny's encounter is as much fun as the best gonzo scenes so let's give WHIPPED ASS a !!!! outta !!!!!
