Synopsis:
A man (Javier López Perea) is walking around Vidrio's Lake and comes across a partially submerged hockey mask. After donning the mask he becomes the maniac killer Jason Bordes and wrecks havoc on those having sex.

Audio/Video:
The film is presented with a Spanish 2.0 Stereo track. There is almost no dialog throughout the entire film, so understanding what is said isn't a problem. Most of the track is music and sound from the sex scenes. X Canal hasn't included any other language tracks or subtitle options for the feature film.

Viernes 13: XXL is presented in the full screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The picture being presented is in relatively decent shape. There are a few video glitches during the film and there are some compression artifacts that are present that keep the picture from being perfect. There is also a haloing that shows up briefly at the beginning. The compression artifacts could have been due to the PAL to NTSC conversion that I had to use to watch the film but I suspect they aren't. Other than that there are no other video problems and none of these are likely to ruin your viewing experience unless you are extremely picky.

Special Features:
There are a few extras included on the disc. There is a photo gallery that contains 68 stills that you flip through. The still will also move by themselves, but extremely slowly so you are better off flipping them at your own speed. There is an 11 minute making of feature that shows what went into making the film and shows the cast and crew having a good time. There is also a catalog of other X Canal releases with trailers and/or small photo galleries for each title.

Disc Design/Navigation:
The disc starts with the standard warnings and then goes to the menus. The menus are simple and very easy to use. There are 6 chapters available from the menu. Each one is identified by a video clip. There are also 6 chapters available within the feature film itself. There is a time code encoded on the disc for the feature film.

General Review:
Viernes 13: XXL is a Spanish adult horror film and horror spoof from Ángel Mora, who has made several other adult horror films like GoreX and Apocalypse of Vampires. The idea behind Viernes 13 is solid, a spoof of several well known American horror films combined with hardcore sex. An idea that would be utilized several years later by Wicked Pictures when they made Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre, an ultimately far more successful film. The film opens, as the viewer might expect, with a take off of Friday the 13^th, with a man becoming the infamous Jason.

After an attack on a photographer at the lake, the entire lake concept behind the early Friday the 13th films disappears and Jason apparently wanders around a town, which was disappointing. I was a psyched for some camper sex and instead the plot of the film starts stumbling. What follows are a series of sex scenes and scenes that spoof Friday the 13^th — Part 2, Psycho, The Exorcist, Halloween, Scream, and Jason Goes to Hell. However there is a lack of connection between the scenes. It's like they created the outline for the film and instead of finishing it they just decided to film the outline. Outside of the sex scenes, there is only one line uttered during the entire film as well. It's really too bad because the film has a lot of potential to it.

Most of the sex scenes take place indoors in bedrooms, again no camper sex, and most of the scenes are removed from the horror plot and are loosely tied into the film at the end of each sex scene. This doesn't mean that the plot is a total loss though, it just doesn't combine to make a film that flows. There are some true laughs present during the film and it's neat seeing how the spoofs of the various horror films are worked in. And you can see where the writers were trying to go with the film.

They even went through the time to create some fun gore effects, almost never seen in adult films, which, albeit cheesy, worked in this film. The gore effects, which would be considered bad for a B-grade horror film, are probably the best I've ever seen attempted in an adult film. There is nothing that is going to gross any viewer out and they don't occur during any sex scene, so nobody has to worry about a chainsaw ruining a sex scene for them.

Unlike the plot, the sex scenes were enjoyable and for the most part were filmed well. The only issue that I had with them is that the lighting is off and the scenes are rather dark. Not to create an atmosphere or make the scene more personal or erotic, but it appears that the lighting just wasn't well designed. It was also easy to fix by turning up the brightness. The best scene by far in the film is the Nacho and Claudia Jamsson pairing, which as far as I was concerned made the whole film worth watching all by itself. The other scenes were enjoyable to watch as well with performers that appeared to be into each other and the scene itself. The sexual themes presented in the film are vaginal and anal sex with blow jobs, pussy eating, lesbianism, hand jobs, pussy fingering, and anal fingering. For viewers that care about condom use, there are no condoms used in the film.

Parting Thoughts:
Viernes 13: XXL is an adult horror film and comedy that has several great ideas and some very enjoyable sex scenes. Unfortunately the final film has an unfinished feel to it and it could have desperately used some more plotted portions to fill out the story and make the film seem less jumbled. It's still a fun film to watch and if you have the chance and you enjoy horror films you might want to give this title a rent.
