"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn"

I have to say this now. I am becoming a huge Serenity fan. So, when I saw this movie I knew I had to get it. I had really liked Michael Zen's work on Blue Movie, and I thought I would like this one as well. I think I may have had my expectations a bit to high.

The Movie: Okay, first, let me get the sex out of the way. Over all the sex in this movie as very good. There was a great amount of heat, and Jewel D'enyle always keeps scenes hot. There was also a very good use of flashbacks during a scene between Jewel and Lee Stone that works very well. The scene with Serenity and Chris Cannon at the end of the movie is very sweet, and yet still fairly hot. It's romantic but not sappy. There is a Serenity solo scene, and a few lesbian scenes thrown in. Obviously I'm not the best person to ask about lesbian scenes, but this one was pretty good. The scene is a group scene with Jewel, Serenity, Kylie Ireland, and Gwen Summers, and takes place back in the Puritan times. Since the scene takes place before they were casting ye old dildos, the girls end up having to use vegtibles, and fruits. The scene works well, and for once I didn't fast forward through a lesbian scene. The Serenity solo scene is intercut with a scene where she is giving Chris Cannon head, and both scenes together, generate a good amount of heat. The stand out scene though is Chris and Kylie's scene. Chris may not be the most attractive guy, but he sure as hell knows how to drive a woman crazy, and Kylie seems to be in heaven. I have never seen such a moist scene that didn't involve lube or spit. This scene also gets in to some light fisting.

Story wise this movie is fairly strong, even though there really isn't a ton of dialogue or plot scenes. The sex seems to carry everything fairly well. The basic run down is that Serenity in present time, is starting to have flash backs in to her past life where we find out she was trying to become a witch. Well, low and behold, all the people from the past are now in the present, and the original witch Jewel, is trying to help Serenity complete her transformation. I liked the story, and thought it was a nice touch that the witches were not the bad guys in this film. There is also a nice, although short, fight sequance towards the end of the film that I loved. Serenity gets to beat the shit out of two guards, and it works really well. If only the scene was a bit longer, but oh well. The only reason I knocked the plot and acting down is because, while I think Serenity is a decent actress, Jewel is not so good, and neither men are very good either. It does help that everyone is trying, and seems to really be getting in to their characters, but over all, they fall a bit flat. It does help that everyone makes up for it when the scenes that count start up. Oh, and I have to say, the club sequance was very well done.

The title is fairly couples safe, with everything being fairly vanilla, and yet being pretty hot.

Tech Stuff: This looks like it was a slightly early digital film, and the picture looks a bit grainy. At times it fells very cheap, which is odd for a Wicked movie. The sound is pretty good, and strong through out.

Extras: You get the usual star bios, and trailers and such.

You also get a pretty entertaining behind the scenes video. I have to point out, it is very obvious that Michael Zen is gay (he has a pretty good career in gay porn as well as in straight) and hearing him comment on some of the scenes had me in tears. It is insightful, and you can see that the actors are really trying their hardests, and want to make a good film.

There is also the feature length commentary. This one is fairly technical, with both Serenity and Michael giving details on the filming, and such. Over all it was good, but lacked energy. It felt very professional, but cold.

Overall: This is a fairly good movie, with some great sex, a decent story, and a great leading lady. While the picture isn't as good as most Wicked movies, it is still much better than most adult films out there, and is still very well lit, and very well shot. I would recommend this movie for couples who have seen a few pornos together already, and for anyone looking for a decent supernatural story. Anyone looking for very hardcore sex should know that Wicked is not the place to look for that by now. Still, if you are a fan of either the director or Serenity, check it out.
