Initial Expectations: I normally like Nick Orleans’ movies, but for some reason this one has me a little nervous.

Initial Reaction: It’s okay, but not one of Orleans’ best.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting sex with heavy artistic direction and who doesn’t mind slow motion and not really hearing the performers

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants to hear the performers and the audio and video to synch

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very artistic, and I can see many people hating the movie because of them. During the setup sequences, the audio and video are nicely done. They’re both nicely clear and there are very few shadows. During the sex, however, the video normally slows things down to give the feature a more romantic feel. This means that the audio is normally dubbed, and many times you don’t even get to hear the action you’re watching.

Music: The music is provided by Saint, which is always a good thing for me. I love the sexy new age feeling to Saint’s music, and although it seems a bit overly similar to some of Saint’s other scores. It’s often on the loud side, which I can tolerate here due to my love of the music, and even manages to enhance the scenes a little at times.

Menus: The main menu has a little animation, but it didn’t really do anything for me. The chapter menu is okay and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip and a title for each scene.

The Feature: According to Turquoise Blue, every object has a spiritual power to it. Supposedly turquoise has healing powers, which becomes the basis of the movie. It’s basically a series of vignettes, but they’re all connected by a bit of turquoise jewelry or other artifacts that lead into a bit of sexual healing as told by Julie Meadows.

Ashton Moore starts things out with Mark Davis. They’re business partners on a remodeling job, and Ashton has wanted to do the horizontal mambo with him since the moment she met him. She excuses herself to strip down, and comes back in wearing only her underwear (which I think Mark could probably see easy enough through the dress she was wearing before) so he’ll really get the picture. After they kiss and caress a bit Ashton guides Mark near a chair and drops down to suck his cock. Mark returns the favor with his tongue and fingers as Ashton bends over a table before sliding his cock into her from behind. Ashton gets a little control by riding Mark cowgirl style before letting Mark spread his seed across her tits.

This is a decent scene. It’s very soft and romantic, but also has some very nice chemistry between Mark and Ashton. This style of scene often makes it hard for it to seem like performers build up chemistry, but it flows well enough here that it isn’t a problem. This is a soft scene, but also very likeable.

Charlie takes on her real life partner Dante in the second scene after adding a bit of turquoise to her collection. Charlie lays on a bed with her feet moving gracefully back and forth in the air while she sucks Dante’s cock and balls, and even moves back to give his bunghole a little tonguing. They work through a bit of missionary and cowgirl before Dante pile drives Charlie’s pussy. Finally, Charlie takes Dante’s dick droppings on her tits and up to her tongue.

This is a disappointing scene. It’s held back drastically by shadows, and unlike the previous scene, the chemistry that should exist between Charlie and Dante doesn’t seem to make it past the normal lack of audio other than music. There’s nice energy here, but the artistic nature of this scene hinders it rather than helping it in any way.

Alexandra Nice and Elena hook up next. Alexandra starts out masturbating during her bath and watching Elena outside of the tub. Elena slowly makes her way next to the tub after slowly dancing around it, and leans in to play with Alexandra using a flower. Finally Elena sits down on the edge so Alexandra can go to work on her pussy using her tongue, fingers, and some of the nearby toys. This is a disappointing scene. It’s a fairly slow, and the sharp ending doesn’t help anything here. Once again the artistic manner actually hurts it, as there were way too many close-ups for my tastes. Nick Orleans’ scenes often slide along this line, but sadly it crosses it to the dark side here, although not as badly as in the previous scene.

Brick Majors takes on Micki Lynn in the fourth scene. Black dress and cowboy hat wearing Micki doesn’t waste any time dropping down to suck prim and proper looking Brick’s cock, and he thanks her properly with a tongue and finger for Micki’s muff. Micki lays back for Brick to nail her missionary style, rides him cowgirl a little, and lets him fuck her from behind before letting him fuck her ass. Micki takes it in the ass missionary and reverse cowgirl style, before finally sucking Brick to a pop on her neck and shoulders.

This is a pretty good scene. Micki’s body language easily lets you know that she’s really getting into it, but the editing throws it off by putting it together with scenic landscape shots. It’s very odd, and often had me scratching my head (the one on my shoulders). In a very odd twist, I had the feeling that Brick was scared of fucking Micki in the ass. He holds back noticeably, and Micki seems like she’s trying to push him for more than he wants to give through most of the anal portion. I know there’s some risks in anal so I was glad to see Brick let Micki set the pace at first, but this seemed to just go on and on. It’s very odd, and because of it I couldn’t get into the anal portion completely.

Julie Meadows gets into the action with Jack Hammer in the penultimate scene. Jack, who was probably the most tattooed guy in front of the camera until Skeeter Kerkove appeared, starts things out tonguing Julie’s pussy and ass. Julie returns the favor with some nice deep oral action before climbing up for a cowgirl ride with a smile on her face. She takes a nice, long ride before climbing off and letting Jack nail her ass from behind and missionary style. Finally, Jack pulls out and blows all over Julie’s asshole.

Although I’m a big fan of Julie Meadows, this scene really disappointed me. Julie seemed to get into it very well, but the scene was also very dark and the camera angles often appeared off. There wasn’t a single point during the anal where you could see both the penetration and Julie’s face, and I think that it could have been done fairly easily. Instead I had the feeling like there were two cameras set on tripods and that was all you got to see.

Finally, Ashton Moore takes on Evan Stone and Gina Ryder. Ashton leads a blindfolded Evan into a room where Gina crawls up to them while they kiss. Gina goes to work sucking Evan’s cock while Ashton watches and then joins in. The girls break from Evan to sixty-nine each other while Evan feels his way around before he fucks Ashton from behind. This is a pretty typical scene to end things with. It had all the potential to be the best scene in the movie, as Evan and the girls looked like they were enjoying themselves. Sadly, I never felt that the camera captured it as well as it could have, and the lack of real audio didn’t help things either. This is an okay scene that feels like a disappointment that couldn’t live up to its true potential.

Turquoise Blue is a pretty average porno. I’ll admit that it quickly took a step down for me because the power of crystals and other inanimate objects seems like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me, and I normally think that the people who find such power in them are normally just distracted by seeing something shiny. Sadly, the sex wasn’t good enough to make me forget about the laughable premise. Yes, the premise works good to set up the scenes, but the scenes are nothing special. I like a lot of Nick Orleans’ style, but it never seemed to click quite right for me. Camera angles seemed a little off, there were plenty of shadows in places, and most of all, the scenes seemed hindered by the artistic stylings of slowing things down and adding sexy music. I can often get into this type of scene, but here things just didn’t click too well, with both Charlie’s scene and Julie’s scene seeming almost wasted much of the time. Turquoise Blue is an okay porno, but it sure didn’t get my rocks off like a lot of Nick Orleans’ other movies.

Extras: Trailers are included for Caribbean Undercover, Fire & Ice, The Scent of Passion, and Tales From the Pink. The slide show lasts about two minutes with roughly six seconds per decent looking framed photo. Bios are included for Ashton Moore, Gina Ryder, and Charlie, each of which contains a photo of the star, a little personal information, and a link to their scene. There’s also weblinks and a matching game that lets you view a bonus scene.

The bonus scene comes from The Collector and features Evan Stone with redhead Amanda Rain. I’d suggest this one at the low end or that you rent it first. The artistic feel won’t be for everybody, although it is often a very beautifully shot movie. The technical aspects aren’t too bad, and there’s even some decent extras.
