Traci's Big Trick Review

Few stories, if any, have transfixed the adult film industry--and put its very existence in peril--as that of a young Ms. Traci Lords, who rose to the top of the flesh heap in the mid-1980's, only to have it come out in siren-blazing style that she was underage for almost the entirety of her career. Of course, upon the big reveal, the media got hold of the matter, arrests were made, and--even to this day--those who were around at the time still discuss the whole affair both frequently and, often, with anger directed at Traci. Its impact on the lives of many individuals, from fellow performers, to directors and producers, all the way to Traci herself, cannot be understated. For her part, Lords ultimately moved on, launching a successful career as an actress and singer (which persists to this day) and even has started her own line of clothing. The industry--though bloodied--survived, of course, as well, and various books including the subject--from a variety of individuals and viewpoints and myriad levels of objectivity--have been published. The story, when told from different perspectives, is rarely fully consistent (...not surprising...), and one is left wondering just exactly what did (and did not) occur behind the scenes. One such semi-fictionalized recounting of the events is the subject of the review at hand, director Jane Waters' 1987 "unauthorized biography of the notorious Traci Lords", "Traci's Big Trick". From the title alone, it's clear that the bias in this one is going to be against Traci, which is obviously the case from the onset and not very surprising, especially given its 1987 production date. In this, she's presented from the general viewpoint of the porn industry, which puts her forward as a young woman who used a fake I.D. to fool everyone, become a big star, and then use the entire situation to her ultimate advantage. A certain level of naivete is ascribed to her, which is sometimes absent in other industry accounts of the affair, though her cunning ability to capitalize on a situation is overtly expressed, as is an unfeeling tone to her actions, both of which are generally hallmarks of such industry views. Not presented fully is the fact that she was incredibly young when she started in porn, which should at least partially offset any of her perceived ill intentions and misdeeds, and also the toll that the situation is noted to have taken on Traci herself. To be sure, she's presented as walking away blithely, fully unscathed, and with a spring in her step. From non-industry accounts, this seems at least somewhat counterfactual...if not fully so. Where does the ultimate truth lie? To be cliched, probably somewhere in the middle, but who honestly will ever know? That said...in terms of this film itself, it's fairly good. The sex is solid, it tells a decent story (including taking the liberty of filling in some of the more-speculative details of the event), and it's worthy of a watch. If nothing else, it's infinitely better than the slop that was put out as a Traci Lords "parody" in the not-so-distant past (...sigh...). At least this makes an effort to be good and to tell a legitimate tale.

In terms of the sex, Scene One brings together Jacqueline Lorians (as "Traci Lords") and Peter North, who's playing the part of a Dark brother who's casting for "New Wave Hookers". In order to get herself a higher paycheck, Lorians shows North just how good her oral skills are, blowing him fully to completion in her hands, mouth, and on her face. Of course, Peter delivers his patented payload to the young starlet. In Scene Two, Jacqueline, as the Devil in "New Wave Hookers", gets it on with Troy Tannier in a smoke-filled room with a black plastic backdrop. She dominates Troy with a whip, forcing him to eat her out, and then goes to work on his cock. A steamy, oral and vaginal affair follows, with Lorians ultimately taking a load on her panties and tummy. Scene Three finds Jacqueline's boyfriend, Scott Apollo, sneaking into her room from outside, confronting her, and--at least initially--taking her against her will. Despite her hesitations from the onset, Lorians quickly gets into the dick that's penetrating her body, moaning with every thrusth. This one's pretty much all missionary--and quick, to boot--and culminates in a cum-shot on her chest. In Scene Four, Jacqueline--with her trench coat, hat, and cigarette--seduces a hunky producer at the beach, Jerry Butler, and makes his dreams come true back at a hotel room. After he pledges himself to her as her "slave", the good times get going, with Ms. Lorians sucking and taking cock in a handful of positions. It isn't until the end that Butler figures out who she is, and she sucks and jerks him to a pop in her hands, mouth, and on her face. Scene Five has Jerry Butler, who's just found out that Jacqueline's character ("Traci Lords") has just (supposedly) come of age (despite having made a number of porn films already), cutting a deal with a money-man in the business, Ron Jeremy (as "Guy"). Of course, Ron needs to check out the goods for himself, which includes Lorians blowing Butler to completion in her mouth and then going to work on the masturbating Jeremy, who's seated across the room. She sucks him off and then jerks him to completion on her chest and breasts, partly whilst fingering her own pussy and ass. In Scene Six, Jacqueline and Jerry get it on in a Japanese-themed room under the direction of the kabuki-painted Kyomi Yuriko. Other than some hand action and a touch of oral, this one is pretty much softcore. Scene Seven pairs up Jacqueline and Sharon Mitchell as they go fingers-and-tongues in the back of a limo, all as Sharon's guy, Ron Jeremy, and Jerry watch. In Scene Eight, Jacqueline and Jerry get it on with a fellow performer and friend of Lorians', Melissa Melendez, back at her place after kicking Jacqueline's ex out...the hard way. Jerry dicks both of the lovelies (...also the hard way...), and they take care of one another, as well. A cum-shot on Lorians' backside closes out this historically-oriented, carnal caper. Not bad. Not bad at all.
