Jerry Douglas has been directing porn for over thirty years—correction: Jerry Douglas has been directing films for over thirty years. You would think he would be burned out by now, or at the very least, jaded; but his films are still as fresh and exciting as ever. In commenting on Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese said, “Everyone one of his films was an event.” The same can be said in the porn world about Douglas. TOP SECRET is indeed another event.

The film—on the surface—is a spoof of the Bond films, but it is also a coming-out story and primarily a love story. Corey Summers in a real tour de force performance plays both master spy McGuffin and Goodwin, a military man look-alike who is forced into impersonating the arch-villain. There are a few slight problems to this impersonation however. McGuffin has a distinctive tattoo, is cut, and is gay. Goodwin has no tattoo, is uncut, and is straight.

The tattoo is no problem; circumcision is possible (ouch!); but when it comes to the gay aspect, Houston we have a problem. You see, the secrets are being passed in a most ingenious method: a special lubricant is inserted in the anus, a condom carrying the info is placed on a cock and inserted into the anus of a courier who then brings his pretty little butt back to the agent who is to get the secret info; the agent then fucks the courier, transferring the info to his condom, and voilà! Did you follow all that? Well, never mind, like in the Hitchcock films it’s merely the “mcguffin”. For those who don’t know that term it was one Hitchcock used to describe something in the plot that the characters cared about but the audience didn’t. (Like getting back the money Janet Leigh stole in Psycho.) And here we are really more interested in the sex and in the burgeoning love affair between Goodwin and Jack Ryan, his military guardian, another supposedly straight man.

Their supposed sexual conversion is made believable by the fact that both men were divorced by their wives for being inadequate in the bedroom, by Corey getting excited watching a tape of McGuffin having sex with photographer Tuck Johnson, and by Ryan jacking off behind a two-way mirror observing Corey getting sexual instruction from Steve O’Donnell. (What a big dick to start with!) When Corey and Jack finally make it together it is on top of a moving train complete with toe-sucking, cock-sucking, and a flip-flop fuck. “Do you really want to do this?” Corey asks, as Jack is about to sit down on his cock. Jack does.

In between, in addition to the sex already mentioned, we have had Corey fucking Zach Richards in a sling in a leather bar, Corey (as McGuffin) jacking off with three other marines on a train, and Corey not only sucking Corey on the train, but retiring to a toilet at a station shop where Corey (McGuffin) fucks Corey (Goodwin) thus passing on the secret information.

Douglas’ final homage to Hitchcock is reminiscent of the ending of North by Northwest. There as Eva Marie Saint joins Cary Grant in his berth on a train, the last shot is of a train going into a tunnel. Here, as Corey Summers and Jack Ryan share a post-coital kiss, the last shot is of a train-stop barrier zooming up into the sky.

The DVD’s extras give us not only scene chapters but enable us to view just the oral, anal, or cum shots. I was disappointed however—especially since it was done for the film The Back Row—that there was no director’s commentary. Nevertheless, this is one Hell of a film! The acting, the cinematography, the music, the story, and the direction are all 5 stars. TOP SECRET is proof that the legend of Jerry Douglas is still being written.
