The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Girlsfriends Films has put out some darn hot all girl movies. With the cast they have here I can't help but have hope for another hot movie.

Initial Reaction: Although the plot feels a little weak even by porn standards, the sex is top notch and the movie has nice potential as the start of a series.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of all girl porn with a focus on chemistry.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting nastier sex or a substantial plot

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good. The audio is nicely done and clear for the most part, but there are a few areas that are a little muddy and where the balance is weak. The video is nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. It's nicely lit with just a hint of grain and no motion to interfere with the action.

Music: There's a little music here and there that's normally nicely balanced with the rest of the audio.

Menus: The main menu is okay, and blends a bit of the cover still with a few clips from the movie for an okay first impression. The chapter menu shows some nice care and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene as well as the names of the ladies in it.

The Feature

At the Thornhill PD, there's about to be some changes made, starting with a new investigative unit. Julia Ann is picked to be in charge of the unit due to her experience and her partner just retiring, and she's joined by Lux Kassidy and rookie Hayden Night. Being Thornhill the girls are all into girls, which just might help them as they investigate a possible murder involving Dyanna Lauren.

After putting her gun and badge away in a dresser, blonde Lux heads to the door to let in short haired brunette Zoe. They exchange diamonds for money and let each other know what will happen if they didn't deliver on their part of the bargain before kissing passionately with Lux soon after ending up on her back on the bed with Zoe on top of her. This is a hot opening scene. There's some nice drive between Zoe and Lux, and the chemistry comes out quickly between them. The scene moves along at a nice pace, and nicely ends about the time it starts to drag. The setup and action are both fairly simple, but due to the chemistry it all works pretty well. This is a nice scene to start out the movie.

After a catfight over who's stuff is whose after they broke up, dark brunette Celeste tries to make up with sandy haired Lily and to go for some quick make-up sex. Lily tries to get out, but can't and soon finds herself kissing Celeste on the bed as they hold each other tight. This is another hot scene. The make-up sex aspect works very well to set up the scene, and the chemistry comes out well as the scene goes on. The girls play the fighting aspect every bit as well as the passionate make-up aspect, and as usual the action is nicely captured. This is another nicely done scene.

Dirty blonde Hayden makes a call to dark haired Andy to explore some of the feelings she had for her. She's more than a little nervous as they start, but Andy takes things nice and slow with her kissing her softly as her hands wander around Hayden's body. Andy takes plenty of time and makes sure Hayden returns her kisses before stripping her down to suck her tits and eat her pussy. Andy strips down as well and lets Hayden's hands roam her body as she lightly plays with her pussy for her. This is a nicely done scene. There's very nice chemistry between the girls with Hayden doing a great job being nervous and curious while Andy comes off as wanting her completely but also knowing she has to take things slow so as to not scare her off. That makes this a slower paced scene, but one that's also very effective because of it. This is a slower and softer scene, but works it very well.

Julia stops back at former suspect Dyanna's place to resolve a few issues between them, only to have Dyanna quickly strip down and hop in the pool. Julia strips down soon after and joins her for a bit of passionate kissing and a little light play in the pool before starting to get out of the pool with Dyanna moving up to eat her from behind. Julia and Dyanna help each other towel off briefly before Dyanna lays back and lets Julia kiss her way across her body and eat her pussy. This is nothing short of a fantastic scene. The chemistry between Julia and Dyanna is off the charts, and there's plenty of completely natural and playful smiles, laughs, and even orgasms. One would think that with the background and time these ladies have been in the industry they'd be more than familiar with each other, and that's just how this scene feels. It's like two good friends who know just what does it for each other playing around and trying to please each other. That's what I hoped for with this scene, and that's just what it ended up being. This is a really great scene that definitely ends the movie on a high note.

To Protect and To Serve is a nice start for a new Girlfriends series. The plot is a bit light and jumpy, but it also feels like it's that way because it's trying to introduce the major players in the series while just working in a lighter story. With that in mind the setups work pretty good, but at the same time I think I would have preferred that the intros were kept a little lighter to let the story seem not as empty as it felt at times. Yes, I know that porn is about the sex and not the plot, but there was just enough plot here to feel lacking instead of feeling like just light setups. As for the sex, once again Girlfriends Films does a great job. There's a little different feel to every scene, and every scene is nicely captured and has plenty of chemistry. Julia Ann and Dyanna Lauren's scene is easily the top here, and I think the main reason it pulls ahead of the other scenes is that it somehow managed to reach the extremely high expectations I had for a scene putting two adult film icons like Dyanna and Julia together in the same scene. To Protect and Serve might leave a little to be desired with its story and setups, but the sex still makes it much more than just worthwhile.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Girlfriends Films DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $24 with a few stores offering them near the low end. If you're a fan of all girl action with a bit of a plot, this one should be well worth the money. The setups are a little light for a full feature, but the sex more than makes up for it and is nicely topped off with a great scene between Julia Ann and Dyanna Lauren. The technical aspects show some nice care as well, but the extras are fairly generic. This is a decent movie that feels like a good opening for an ongoing series.

Note to Girlfriends Films: You're doing a great job with the sex in your movies and your setups are normally nicely done as well. This one leaves a bit to be desired in the setup range, and I hope you polish things up in the future to help this series live up to its full potential.
