What's It About?: The video begins with Tina Tyler conducting a "woman on the street interview," which is obviously staged, with cutie Cheyenne Silver. Up to this point, I wouldn't say that in terms of content that this video is any different from other blowjob series, such as Blowjob Fantasies, California Cocksuckers, or Blowjob Adventures of Dr. Fellatio. But at least with those tapes there's a lot more than six hummers per volume. So going into this last scene, I was praying for the last inning miracle. What I liked: I liked Cheyenne's nice blowjob to start off the video and Tina's enthusiasm ending it. More than that though, I'm glad to see that Tina's directorial talent shows promise and am looking forward to seeing more of her work. What I didn't like: Aside from the poor technical elements in the video's production (which I'll touch on below), the biggest shortcoming (pardon me) of TTF:BJ1 are the middle scenes: they aren't bad, but I'd call them pretty average. And again, that's not much different than the well established blowjob series out there -- they have more than their share of average or poor BJ's. But since there are only seven scenes in this volume, the bulk of the material is pretty unremarkable, even though the rest is quite good. DVD Extras: The extras package is pretty decent, including some bios, a 25-picture photo gallery, as well as the audio commentary track narrated by Tina. The commentary is pretty good as Tina, in her soft spoken way, describes each of the scenes and the many glitches that went on along the way. She also helps greatly in identifying the performers in each of the scenes, which is something that viewers always appreciate. Another nice value-add is the transcript from Tina's Adult DVD Talk chat that's included on the DVD. Finally, there are trailers for four of OGV's video series and one of its bisexual titles. A/V Quality: This is undoubtedly the weakest aspect of this DVD. You can definitely tell that this was shot on a tight budget -- the video is not the crisp digital or Betacam images that we've come to expect from most studios. Instead, most of the scenes take on a VHS-like quality: somewhat grainy and dark. The sound isn't much better with not enough volume and too much ambient noise. Tina explains in the commentary that the handheld mic that she's holding during the street interview setups isn't even working -- that explains why the interviews are hard to hear. The biggest loss comes during the sex scenes when you can't hear the performers at all. Hopefully, as 13 Productions (Tina's company) makes more videos, they'll refine their techniques and use better equipment. The Last Word: In general, while it isn't an outstanding debut, Tina Tyler's Favorites: Blow Jobs 1 shows promise as a series and features a few very good BJ's. Tina (and Drew) definitely stole the show with the finale, and for that I think it's at least worth a rental if not a purchase. Based on what I saw here, I'm looking forward to seeing some of Tina's other videos in her Favorites line.
