Taunting, The Review

My source for horror film DVDs gave me a curious disc called The Taunting, which is actually an S & M-themed XXX feature masquerading as an old-dark-house scary movie.

The starlet on the box cover art, an actress known only as Lystra, nude and white faced with fake white contacts in her eyes, plays the only ghost in this old-dark house tale. She does not scare anybody in particular because the house's human occupants are, quite frankly, too busy S & M role-playing as either a domme or a sub, sometimes a combination of both. In each sequence, a domme barks and orders a submissive or two around until the domme shifts gears and engages in what can be described as standard dirty movie stuff with the submissive(s). Given nothing else to do but flicker and flash about, our little white-faced ghost enters and exits these sequences without any genuine interacting with anyone so she becomes nothing more than a voyeur observing these dark (and dull) S & M tease/xxx sequences that make up the bulk of this DVD.

The darkly lit vignettes of The Taunting will likely upset the raincoat crowd, those that prefer a brightly lit "gonzo" sequence, which explore every nook, crook, crack, cranny and orifice of a young female porno starlet as she performs in a variety of positions usually with a porn stud or studs. Those raincoaters and others that enjoy girl/girl action might enjoy a bonus scene; it's a brightly lit sequence with the heavily tattooed, goth-looking heroine of The Taunting, Regan Reese, performing with the director of The Taunting, a Rubenesque woman named Zenova Braedon, who also had a hand in the script, make-up and other chores.

Shooting for The Taunting and the bonus scene mentioned above was completed in 2006, then another bonus scene, The Ghost Masturbation sequence, was added to the DVD's contents just prior to release in 2007. My guess is that the producers felt that they had cheated the viewers by giving our little white-faced ghost (Lystra) so little to do in the feature.

T0MBOne rates The Taunting 2 1/2 outa 5 for giving us a horror/porn hybrid DVD experience that failed to thrill and chill like a traditional horror movie or to excite and titillate like the best of XXX.
