Spread Eagle (Vivid) Review

Note: I’m reviewing this from a DVD-R screener copy sent from Vivid, so there aren’t any extras provided on this copy (hence the “N/A” score there), and the technical quality score that I’m giving here is a mix of what I am actually seeing and what I expect the final result to be based upon it. I have faith that both of these items will be strong in the final DVD release.

Review:
“Spread Eagle” is an exceptional and comical feature from B. Skow (the director), David Stanley (the writer), and Vivid that features Tommy Gunn as a superhero known as Spread Eagle. Tommy becomes Spread Eagle after a criminal shoots him and his girlfriend (Asa Akira) in an alleyway after an attempted rape gone awry. Fortunately for Tommy, an eagle descends from the sky and not only saves him but also gives him the ability to grow claws, a beak, and wings. With this, Tommy is able to fly, and he also gains an ear-piercing, head-splattering shriek that he can use to either disable or even finish off his opponents. One nice thing about this production is that its storyline—which is strong for an adult film—doesn’t take itself too seriously. For instance, Tommy’s beak squeaks when it’s pushed or bumps up against something, and a lot of the goings-on appear to intentionally parody the whole superhero genre. Also very fortunate for this release is the hot sex in which the various participants partake. Heat-wise, all of the festivities are excellent, and the cast (which includes the fast-rising Lily LaBeau) is top-notch. With that, let’s delve a bit deeper into the action…

In Scene One, Tommy is coupled with his onscreen girlfriend, Asa Akira, in a steamy basement encounter. To start things off, Asa is dressed in some purple lingerie and is doing a sexy tease-and-clean. Once Tommy enters the picture, the pair gets right down to business. The blowjob work here incorporates some deep-throating and is hot, and the highlights include the reverse-cowgirl, missionary-like (on a table), doggie-style, and cowgirl positions that are employed. To close off this excellent endeavor, Tommy pops on Asa’s splayed-open pussy and also her ass-hole. Not quite finished, Asa then follows this all up by pushing some of the cum into her pussy with her fingers, and then letting Tommy do a cummy reinsertion back into her v-jay...hot! Scene Two takes place after Tommy has been turned into Spread Eagle, and it involves Lexi Belle—a hooker dressed in a punky getup—getting it on in an alleyway with two johns, Marcus London and John Strong. The sequence goes along well, with the double-blowjob / -hand-job work and the oral-vaginal combos all scorching. The segment is capped off with John popping on Lexi’s pussy, and Marcus giving her a facial—which she then follows up with some oral cock clean-off. It isn’t until Lexi tries to collect her pay for her services that things start to get out-of-hand, and Tommy has to swoop in and save the day.

In Scene Three, Tanya Tate and Lee Stone—the super-villain of the feature—are paired up in a metallic-walled room with a bed. The blowjob work here includes deep-throating and is sexy, and all of the vaginal positions are very well done…especially the standing, held-up-in-the-air position that the duo makes use of toward the middle of the romp. A facial for Ms. Tate finishes off this excellent affair—hot! Scene Four features Lily LaBeau—whose acting and performances as of late have been extraordinary—as a young woman who owes Lee Stone a good deal of money and whose sister (Katie St. Ives) is being forced into prostitution by Stone’s henchman (Jon Jon) because of it. In this sequence, Lily takes on Tommy on a mattress that’s been placed up on a rooftop. The blowjob work by Ms. LaBeau in this one is sensual and includes deep-throating, and the various vaginal positions that the couple utilizes are all sexy and hot. To finish this excellent endeavor off, Tommy pops on Lily’s face and mouth…and she follows this up with some oral cock clean-off. This is the best scene on the disc…and that’s saying a lot.

The final scene (Scene Five) involves Katie St. Ives (Lily’s captive sister) taking care of her pimp, Jon Jon, on / around a sofa in his warehouse. The blowjob / hand-job action in this one is sexy, and the missionary-like, cowgirl, and doggie-style positions are amongst its highlights. The whole affair is closed out with a facial, oral cock clean-off, and a swallow for / by Ms. St. Ives—excellent stuff!

In terms of other items, it should be noted that the camerawork in this release is done very well. This should come as no surprise, as it’s a B. Skow film. Additionally, one of the primary means of advancing the plot involves cut-scenes to an illustrated, comic-book-like setup…with panels and all. While potentially a risky thing to do, it’s fortunate that it’s also done nicely here, and it works to the benefit of the feature.

All in all, this production is definitely recommendable to fans of superheroes, features, David Stanley, B. Skow, Tommy Gunn, and Lily LaBeau. For those who are only interested in gonzo / anal—or who want a super-serious plot—this probably isn’t what you’re looking for. For everyone else, however, I’d say that it’s most definitely worthy.
