Audio /Video Quality:
The technical aspects are solidly above average. The audio is pretty clear, but there are quite a few hollow spots and balance problems that make a lot of the dialogue hard to understand. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks very good. There's a good hand on the camera as well as a clear picture and great care towards the lighting.
Watermark Warning:
The usual Vivid watermark is in the lower right corner. It's small, fairly tasteful (if a watermark can be such a thing), and stays stationary making it easy to put out of mind. Although I can't say that I like to see watermarks, if a company feels that's what they have to do in order to protect their product I hope they can keep them as tasteful as Vivid does here.
The Movie:
When Spider-Man gets sent to Vegas on a mission for SHIELD, his home town quickly catches up with him. Not only is Betty Brandt there from the Bugle, but she's there to do a story about Mysterio and his ties to the criminal Kingpin. Spider-Man XXX 2 is another solid comic porn parody from Axel Braun. As usual with Braun's comic parodies, you can feel some nice resepct for the source material, and there's virtually no effort spared when it comes to the art direction to bring it to life. The costumes are top notch, and the sets are simple but effective. The story is a bit choppy and light, but considering it's a movie based on a comic book I can forgive that a bit at times. In true comic book fashion, there is a nice cliffhanger, and it works well to help with the comic book feel. Sexually Spider-Man XXX 2 works very well. Dani Daniels really shines here, and her two scenes are easily the best in the movie. There's no shortage of chemistry between her and Xander as the web heads hook up, and the final scene where she takes on Nicki Hunter and Veruca James is every bit as solid. Sarah Shevon turns out a solid anal scene, and Casey Calvert gives Xander another nice romp. Leya Falcon turns out a solid back alley blowjob, but it really didn't fit into the movie that well and as enjoyable as it is to see her smoking pole, I would have much rather a bit more time been spent with the Mysterio or Kraven storylines. My only other complaint is one that's going to be very hit or miss for people. The camera work is good, but it seemed just a little too focused on the penetration. There were a couple times when the penetration was centered on the screen, but it was also a three quarter body shot with both players heads being cut off. I would have much preferred a little more life to some of the camera work, especially if it would occasionally move away from the penetration for a moment to show the woman's reaction. Spider-Man XXX 2 is another solid comic parody from the modern day master of super hero parodies.
The Extras:
The only extra on the first DVD is cumshot recaps, with the remainder of the extras being on the second DVD. Trailers are included for eight other Axel Braun parodies. The photo gallery lasts about two and three quarter minutes. There's also a non-sex version of the movie, a casting call featurette, and commercials.
The casting call featurette lasts a few seconds shy of thirty three minutes. In addition to getting plenty of familiar faces, including but not limited to Lyla Storm, Trinity St. Clair, Christie Stevens, Cindy Starfall, Sophia Bella, Leya Falcon, Natalia Starr, Jenna J. Ross, Kiera Winters, and Adriana Chechik reading lines, you get quite a few laughs as Axel has fun with the stars. This is a nice addition to the overall release. It can get a touch long, but there's some good chuckles worked in that helps it work as a nice addition to the overall release.
