Initial Expectations: Roy Karch’s movies in the past have made me so bored I’d almost be willing to watch a twenty four hour Teletubbies marathon instead.

Initial Reaction: It’s pretty average, which is a very good surprise!

Who Should Watch It : Couples who don’t want anything too intense

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants a porno with a bit of intensity or anything beyond vaginal boy - girl sex

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are surprisingly good. The audio balance is off very slightly in a few places, but is mostly well balanced and clear. The video comes and goes. Some of it is nicely clear and well lit, while other parts have some blurry spots and low lighting. It’s a pretty good transfer, and much better than I expected.

Music: The music is very standard porn music. It rests very quietly in the background at almost the perfect balance with the rest of the audio.

Menus: The menus are very basic. The main menu has a little animation and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and a chapter number.

The Feature: Keri Windsor thinks her boyfriend Steve Hatcher is cheating on her with Renee La Rue, who also lives with them. She goes around whining to everybody she knows about it while Steve and Renee try to make things look like nothing’s happening. I’ve seen better plots in soap operas, and the ending is just as predictable.

Steve Hatcher and Keri Windsor start things out during the opening credits. It’s very similar to, and only a little better than, the horrible opening Karch used in Circle of Lust. It’s slow and the camera flashes around everywhere as the credits flash by. Once again, there’s also not a pop shot. I don’t have a problem with internal pop shots and not always showing the pop, but Karch seems to be making such a habit of it that it’s become a reason why I normally don’t expect much out of him no matter how good of talent he uses.

Zana and Nick Manning team up for the first real scene of the movie. Nick is basically a deadbeat who strippers love, with Zana being the stripper here. They kiss a bit and exchange oral favors before Zana hops on for a reverse cowgirl ride. She moves on through doggie and missionary before taking Nick’s joy juice on her tits. It’s an okay at best scene that’s nearly ruined by sub-par camera work. The camera seems more concerned with close-ups of things like Nick’s ass and trying to shoot through solid objects to make things look artistic to try to soften things up than trying to capture two people well known for intense sex scenes doing what they do best.

Calli Cox, a cute bleached blonde with a realistic figure, nicely implanted tits, and a bald beaver, gets busy with Kyle Stone next. He vigorously warms her up with his fingers before letting her energetically suck his cock and take him down her throat. They move on through reverse cowgirl and missionary before Calli accepts Kyle’s liquid love in her mouth to finish things up. It’s a surprisingly hot scene that even has some decent editing. Calli’s very impressive here and I think might have the honor of being the first star who’s made me want to see more of them after a Roy Karch scene.

Renee La Rue stops by to get a little from boyfriend Ian Daniels next. She warms him up with her mouth and big fat titties before letting him attack her orally. Not surprisingly, they start out with reverse cowgirl before moving into doggie and missionary. By now it appears that these are the only positions Mr. Karch really knows, which is part of why his scenes often become boring. Luckily Renee and Ian have very good chemistry and energy, which makes this one end up slightly above average, right up to Renee taking a very good facial.

Real life couple Mia Smiles, a very cute Oriental, and Chris Cannon team up for the penultimate scene with a little hot tub love. Chris warms her bare beaver up with some tongue and finger work before letting her show the same enthusiasm returning the favor. Surprisingly, they don’t start out with reverse cowgirl, instead choosing to begin with some doggie and then working into missionary before giving things the facial finish. It’s another fairly impressive scene that gets by on its chemistry. It’s obvious Mia and Chris enjoy fucking, and it makes this scene work well despite some average at best camera work and editing.

Finally, Keri Windsor and Steve Hatcher work things out, and in, and out, and, well, you get the idea. Keeping with the formula, Steve starts out warming up Keri, including spanking her pussy, and then lets her take as much time as she wants to return the favor. Once again things are mixed up as Keri and Steve start fucking missionary style before moving on to spoon, a position I thought nobody knew about from watching all of the other scenes. Once again, Keri finishes things taking Steve’s spooge spray on her tongue and face to finish things up. It’s a pretty good scene, but also fairly lopsided. I think the oral sex takes quite a bit longer than the fucking, which makes the scene feel long at first and short by the end. Not surprisingly, Keri and Steve show off some great energy, and also have good chemistry.

Surprisingly, Roy Karch has made a porno that’s more enjoyable than a trip to the dentist with Slow Burn. The plot segments are cliched and annoying, but are thankfully short enough that you don’t have to worry too much about fast forwarding through them. After the opening scene the sex is also pretty impressive. I’m not sure if Karch and his editors actually took a few lessons somewhere on how to edit, or if somebody different was brought in, but the sex scenes actually made you watch them rather than get out your remote and watch the movie in fast forward. Although Zana and Nick Manning’s scene is almost a waste due to the editing and camera work, the rest of the scenes are pretty good and should please many couples. If you want something on the light and slow side, Slow Burn might be just what you’re looking for.

Overall: Currently, most of Adam & Eve’s DVDs can be found online for between $15 and $25 with most stores offering them for around $20. This is a little high, but not too bad. The movie is surprisingly watchable, and has a nice transfer. Unfortunately there isn’t much for extras.

Note to Adam & Eve: I hope you make it so retailers can offer this one at a low price due to the short feature length and lack of extras. I also can’t help but wonder what happened to the behind the scenes featurette since there’s behind the scenes credits at the end of the feature.
