Shane's World 19: Tropical Paradise Review

My favorite DVD extra has always been candid footage: interviews, behind the scenes, bloopers, anything to put the filming in context, in context of real people. Shane’s World from start to finish is just that. It’s more real than Real World (though using many of the same techniques) and far more intimate. If you care at all to get to know the people who are screwing their brains out for your viewing pleasure then jump into Shane’s World.

Shane’s World 19 is my first adventure with Shane so I can’t compare it to previous excursions. Cast obviously makes the movie – I doubt anyone would care about the personal lives of people who annoy them. 19 has an enjoyable cast, a nice mix of pretty faces, lean bodies, and personalities with depth. While Halli did most of the narration, a perfect role for her outgoing personae, I found Vivian and Erik to be the highlights both in conversation and sex.

For those unfamiliar with the Shane’s World concept, it’s basically the filming of a group of young porn stars taking a trip – lots of spontaneous sex, a little drama, tropical drinks, Real World style interviews, and of course a big orgy. On the raincoater to couples scale, Shane’s World 19 falls nearer to couples due to the amount of conversation and the attention paid to female pleasures. Erik was especially good to the girls. He orally pleased Charmane as she laid on the front of a boat, wind in her hair, looking out at the Atlantic Ocean and the Florida sky.

Speaking of every woman’s fantasy… Cheyenne, Vivian and Chris had a frolicking threesome in the rain. Okay two girls isn’t really my fantasy, but the laughing, yelling sex with thunder, lighting and buckets of rain is a dream on film. Nothing feels better than running naked in warm rain, except sex in the warm rain. During part of the scene Chris is completely buried in happy women, Cheyenne on his lap and Vivian on his face. So I’m sure the male fantasy is satisfactorily fulfilled.

As the sunny days of drinking, sex, and swimming off the coast of Key West wind down, the interviews get more personal. They say exactly what they think of the others in their group, talk about their goals in life, cry, laugh, and really open up about who they are and what they thought of this experience. It’s very interesting to listen to their thoughts on each other considering you just watched ‘em have sex.

The DVD includes tons of bonus footage (The Lost Footage and Interviews), providing a much clearer picture of what really went on in Key West. The Lost Footage has more sex as well as more dialogue. The Bonus Scene is a random blowjob scene with two people who aren’t in the movie – would have been nice to know where this scene came from. The Cast Bios are a handy reference that I referred to a couple times while watching the movie. The Funny Commercial is a Saturday Night Live style bit – good to see OGV working in some humor into the DVD extras. Plus there is an audio commentary with Halli and Vivian who perfectly complement each other's personalities.

All I can say is I Want More Shane’s World on DVD!
