Synopsis:
Sexual St. Petersburg — Chapter 1 is a vignette style all sex film where there is a brief, essentially plot-less set-up, to each scene before it goes into the sex.

Audio/Video:
Sexual St. Petersburg — Chapter 1 is presented with a dubbed English 2.0 Stereo track. There is very little dialog included in the film, just enough to give you an idea of what is going on. I don't know if this was due to lack of dubbing or if the film was originally made this way. The dialog is clear though out, but the odd music with the sex dubbing included doesn't work for me. It just sounds bizarre. Brave has also included the original Russian 2.0 Stereo track on the disc as well but hasn't included any subtitle options.

Sexual St. Petersburg — Chapter 1 is presented in the full screen aspect ratio. I'm unsure of whether this is the original aspect ratio for the film or not. If it isn't then there is no evidence of it during the presentation. As for the print itself, the picture is clean, free of blemishes, artifacts and glitches, albeit soft. The transfer looks as if it could have been mastered off of VHS. The color levels are perfectly set.

Special Features:
The only extra on the disc is trailers for other films by Brave Russian Movement. Navigation:
Although there are fifty chapter stops available in the film, Brave hasn't included any chapter menu anywhere on the disc. Given the layout of the chapters, a chapter menu would be useful so one could easily utilize them. But since there isn't a chapter menu, using the chapters can be annoying as there are many chapters in each scene. There is a time code encoded on the disc for the feature film.

General Review:
Sexual St. Petersburg — Chapter 1 is billed as “the first ever theme video magazine introducing the viewer to the deepest inner fantasies of the Russian sex.” The film never lives up to this promise, instead it is just a series of poorly designed vignettes. The problem may lie in the translation from Russian to English, but for what-ever-reason, it just doesn't quite work.

Each of the scenes has the same design. There is a short, almost plot less, set-up for each scene which then leads into the sex scene. For the first scene, the set-up is a hotel guest with a chamber maid. The second scene shows us a woman who is applying for a job as a secretary. The third scene brings us a male who gets rejected for sex by various women so he rapes a woman in a room. The fourth scene shows us a guy who picks up two women and brings them back for a game of strip cards. The fifth scene brings us a guy and two girls that get locked inside a video store. And the last scene features two guys who follow around a girl until they do the naughty in a stairwell.

These lead ins hurt the film more than they help it as they often ramble on for far too long considering how little they matter overall. Especially in the rape scene, where we just get to see they guy getting rejected time and time and time again. As these beginnings don't matter very much, they should have been far shorter. One positive aspect to them though is you get to see some nice views of Russia, something you don't get that often in porn.

The sex scenes are designed very differently than ones for films here in the States. The acts switch off rather frequently during the sex scenes. For instance, one of the scenes started out with a male and two females and half way through the action, the male disappears from the scene and the two women play with each other for a while and the male rejoins the scene. Another aspect to the sex scenes that I haven't seen before is in one of the scenes, the male has two pop shots, one in the middle of the scene and one at the end. Overall, the sex scenes here are rather average. The sexual themes in the film are oral, vaginal and anal sex with toys, anal toys, DP toys, strap-on sex, coercion, lesbianism, anal fingering and hand job. For viewers that care about condom use, there are no condoms used in the film.

The cast itself is a mixed bag. There are some very nice looking females present in the film along with some rather average ones. As for the male cast the same is true, some look good and other average. With the exception of the rapist, who certainly didn't help the scene any with his presence. What little acting there is in the film is poor and the voice overs are horrible in the film. Luckily the acting doesn't matter and the voice overs can be removed by muting the sound, which you'll probably want to do anyways due to the bizarre music used throughout the film.

The Scenes:
In the first scene, a nice looking female and a decent looking female put on a show for us with some pussy eating, toys and strap-on vaginal sex. In the second scene, a decent looking female and a male start off the scene with a blow job before some pussy eating. Then they go into the vaginal sex. The male jerks himself off to end the scene. In the third scene, which starts out as a coercion scene, starts out with some pussy eating before the now willing female gives him a blow job. They then go into the vaginal and anal sex before she orally gets the male off to end the scene. I found this to be the worst scene on the disc.

The fourth scene features a nice looking female with a decent looking female and a male which starts out with some lesbian action including pussy eating and fingering before the male gets involved. After the male comes into the scene, there is some pussy eating and vaginal sex before the male pulls out and cums. The scene continues with a hand job and blow job before they go back into the vaginal sex. Then they have anal sex before the male jerks off to cum again. This is probably the best scene on the disc.

The fifth scene features two females and a male and starts out with some pussy eating and a blow job before the male leaves the action for a little while. The females get together for some pussy eating and anal fingering before the male returns and they go into the vaginal and anal sex. The male jerks himself off to end the scene. This is probably the second best scene on the disc. The sixth and final scene features a female and two males. The scene starts out with a blow job and some pussy eating before it goes into a hand job and vaginal sex combo. The scene then goes into the anal sex before a DP finale. The males jerk off for a little before they cum.

Parting Thoughts:
Sexual St. Petersburg — Chapter 1 in design is similar to films made in the States and other countries but the execution of the sex scenes is very unique. Unfortunately, in this film though, the execution of the entire package is rather weak. If Russian porn interests you, I would recommend that you seek out other releases from Brave instead of this one.
