Sex Dolls (Studio A) Review

Sex Dolls is a fine example of Andrew Blake’s film-making. Blending fashion, glamor and eroticism, Sex Dolls showcases the beauty potential of pornographic film as well as the diversity of the Andrew Blake style.

Released for the 2010 holiday season, Sex Dolls racked up an impressive seven nominations including Best All-Sex Release, Best Tease (Amia Miley) and Best Solo Sex Scene (Tori Black) at the 29th AVN Awards.

Something For Everybody

Variety sets Sex Dolls apart from Andrew Blake’s mostly girl/girl repertoire. The two hour film features fifteen shorts ranging from nude fashion to hardcore. Per usual, Blake incorporates beautiful fetish elements, engaging girl/girl scenes and emphasizes body worship throughout.

Gonzo and extreme hardcore fans might be puzzled by Blake’s tantalizing pace. That’s typical of the director’s style. Like his other films, Sex Dolls is less a porno and more of an erotic immersion.

Most scenes are filmed in slow motion. That and the graininess of the classic Bolex camera give the movie a dreamlike feel.

I think of Sex Dolls as a sort of motion-art. It feels like something that ought to be hanging in a museum. In that way, it’s a solid pick to loop on the TV, adding an erotic buzz to the room and possibly setting the mood for afternoon fun.

The Stars Are Out

Filmed in 2010, Sex Dolls captures porn legends Tori Black and Alexis Texas in their prime. It’s so enjoyable to see a glammed-up Tori Black reacting to a young Johnny Castle’s cunnilingus. Couple that with slow-motion blow jobs, empassioned fucking and a facial cumshot to die for and you have one hell of a scene.

Black shines again in her girl/girl romp with Alexis Texas. This one is about touching and licking - a shameless tribute to the art of eating out. Short and beautiful, this remains a favorite girl-girl scene to this day.

And then there’s the AVN nominated solo scene. Filmed in black and white, it is a pussy lover’s dream. Tori wears this crotchless fishnet lingerie that draws the viewer in to the pure masturbatory goodness on display. That and the constant eye contact make this one stand out.

Another nomination was earned by Amia Miley’s hot tease. It’s all glam as she tears her dress apart. Miley makes the minutes feel like hours as she teases with a massive glass dildo. Please put that thing in!

Bree Daniels is one of the strongest girl/girl performers. It’s no surprise that the buxom redhead caught Blake’s eye. It is rare to see something so beautiful as her red hair and fair skin playing against the notes of a leopard print blanket.

The redhead would later become known for her lesbian work and you can see her grace as she makes love with Nina James. Bree also shines in her threesome with Nina and Lily Carter. There are so many fantastic visuals - Blake is just a master at putting these shots together.

It has been seven years since Andrew Blake’s Sex Dolls hit the scene. The film has aged well and very much stands the test of time. For those who love beautiful and high-end erotica, this is a keeper.
