Initial Expectations: I’ve heard great things about this movie, which gives me hope, but the DVD was released when Vivid was really massacring things. I’m not really sure what to expect here.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced with the exception of the start of the movie where there are quite a few background noises. The video is also nicely done. Seven Deadly Sins appears to have been shot on film, so there is a bit of grain to the video. There’s also some great depth that helps to give the movie a nicely artistic look. There’s great use of colors and lighting throughout the movie as well. < P>

Music: The music is very well done. It varies in both style and balance throughout the movie, and works very well to enhance the scenes.

Menus: The main menu is thoroughly unimpressive, and gives you the choices along with the generic virtual Vivid format that Vivid used to use. When you choose to view the feature, you’re given a chapter menu that lets you choose a scene based on a small clip that where you can see the theme of the scene as well as a chapter number. Neither menu gives a good first impression.

The Feature

Seven Deadly Sins works itself around just that. It’s a vignette movie with each scene revolving around the seven deadly sins. Being the seven deadly sins rather than the seven happy-go-lucky sins, somebody often meets a dark ending as each scene comes to a close.

Scene 1 - Janine and Julia Ann

Envy starts things out. After dark haired Superstar Janine blows shy and geeky dirty blonde fangirl Janine off at the porn convention, her hurt self heads home with a signed boxcover. She mangles the boxcover in hate before fangirl and star find themselves together in a green room taking each other on. Although they start out angrily taking each other on verbally, the hate turns to lust. This is a very well done scene. I love how Janine plays two sides of herself and how well they cover up Julia Ann playing one half. There’s a couple quick glances where you can tell it’s Julia, but if you glanced away for a couple seconds there’s a good chance you’d miss it. Not surprisingly the girls have great chemistry together, and they put some nice energy into the scene as well. This is a hot and very well executed way to start out the movie.

Scene 2 - Candy Hill, Ian Daniels, Kyle Stone, and Steve Taylor

Brunette Candy is a slave to Lust. This is another nicely done scene. Candy gets into the guys very well, but it was the setup for the scene that really worked for me. I loved how the little flashes of fantasies are worked into Candy’s day and how it leads into the main event. My only complaint is that with how the camera work goes most of the time I wasn’t sure who was fucking Candy. This is a minor complaint for another very well done scene with plenty of heat for the sex.

Scene 3 - Azlea, Ted Hunter, and James Bonn

Anger starts out with brunette Azlea, who’s looking mighty hot in some black lingerie, bouncing on Ted’s cock reverse cowgirl style when her hubby James comes home early. Trying to disprove the thought that guns (or in the case of Britain, sharp pointy knives) don’t kill people, husbands who come home early kill people, he sits outside and watches and listens to them fuck until Ted pops on Azlea’s bush. This is another darn hot scene. Azlea looks great and the angry chemistry between her and James really did a great job of driving the scene. It looked like Azlea was grinding along Ted’s cock rather than actually having it inside her, which held back the opening a little, but the longer the scene went the better it got. There’s very nice energy throughout the scene, and it’s well captured. This is another winner of a scene.

Scene 4 - Alexandra Silk, Heaven Leigh, and Shelbee Myne

Sharon Kane, looking very plastic, and her husband John Lee are victims of Gluttony who invite Alexandra, Heaven, and Shelbee over tor a game of adult charades in an attempt to find some enjoyment in their overindulgent lives. This scene didn’t do a lot for me. To start with, it got overly artistic for my tastes. Sharon and her husband are edited in before the girls while a movie is edited in behind them. Secondly, I’m not much of a fan of food play, and this got good and messy. This scene is done okay, but it just isn’t for my tastes.

Scene 5 - Ava Vincent, Veronica, and Johnny Peters

Pride finds raven haired model Veronica at a photo shoot in the park. When she meets blonde Ava and her boyfriend Johnny, Veronica decides they could be a bit of fun. My only complaint here is not seeing Ava in more of the action, but at the same time it’s about Veronica’s pride so it fits the scene. This is another very well done scene.

Scene 6 - Regan Starr and Devin Wolf

All Regan needs to increase her Sloth factor is three long-nailed toes instead of five, and her inner self isn’t happy with it because she’s horny as hell. She answers Devin’s personal add, and as soon as he can get past the pig stye she lives in, kisses her on the ear. As Devin tries getting past sloth Regan’s sweats and mess, inner Regan enjoys a romp with Devin working her through missionary, doggie, and a cowgirl ride. While inner Regan gets a nice pop from Devin, sloth Regan gets something much, much different to finish up the scene.

This is a great scene. I’ll admit that I was expecting a fatty, and part of me was even ready to rip on Vivid for not doing a fatty. Instead, they did something much better. There’s great humor in the scene as well as keeping the sloth theme and energetic sex. I hate to give too much away for this scene, but I think I might have enjoyed it the most out of the entire movie.

Scene 7 - Dee, Lola, Veronica, and Michael J. Cox

Greed finishes things up with Michael showing how chicks dig “the word”. He sets his sights on Dee, Lola, and Veronica, and they immediately take him somewhere they can be alone. As Dee sucks Michael’s cock, Veronica goes down on Lola with her tongue and fingers. After Dee get in the first fuck, she trades places with Veronica so she can have a taste of Lola’s pussy while Veronica gets to bounce on Michael’s meat. This is a very good final scene. I really like how the foursome mixes things up and how nobody really gets left out of the scene. None of the girls dominate the action at all, and the camera moves around to capture the action very well. This is a very nice scene to end things with.

Seven Deadly Sins is an extremely well done movie. It keeps each scene nicely focused on its sin, and isn’t afraid to draw things out a bit at the start. That doesn’t mean that things start out slow. In several of the scenes I enjoyed the setup every bit as much as the scene, and in some cases a bit more. I love the artistic sets and the creativity throughout the movie, and the humor in many of the scenes worked just as well. There’s a darkness to the movie that works well to set it apart from other couples movies, but at the same time it’s never so dark as to risk chasing couples away. The sex is also very well done, and has some nice chemistry and nice energy. The cast shows their acting skills just as well in the sex scenes, where many of them stay in character to help the scene out. There’s some nice emotion to the movie that drew me in, and the only scene that didn’t really work for me was the Gluttony scene. Seven Deadly Sins is a great adult movie, and one that I can’t help but recommend despite a few minor faults.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Night Hunger, Tangled Web, and On the Street. Meet the Girls gives you a few photos, a clip of the star in action, and a bit of personal information for Devon, Janine, Jenteal, Julia Ann, Kobe Tai, Lexus, Lori Michaels, Racquel Darrian, Raylene, and Taylor Hayes. They’re nice little bios, but the entire thing is so generic that it didn’t do much for me. The Award Winning Sex selection lets you see three short scenes from uncredited movies. The Intel Sex Game lets you choose from four virtual sex sequences that feature two girls and have two angles to choose from. There’s also multiple angles for the movie, and although you can’t turn off the huge Vivid icon, they do appear to be real for the most part. All in all, there’s not much impressive here for extras.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Vivid’s DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $28, with most stores appearing to offer them in the $20 range. Although there isn’t much for extras on the DVD, at the low end I can’t help but recommend this one. Hot sex, creativity, and an artistic eye come together in a way that rarely happens in adult film. There’s even some nicely done technical aspects. This is an older DVD, and although there isn’t much there overall the movie is good enough to pick this one up!
