THE SEDUCTION OF MARY (1992, VCA) is a rather ordinary title for what is actually an intricately woven tale of lawyer Mary Johnson (Victoria Paris) falling under the seductive spell of erotica author Marshall Solomen (Mike Horner) or does she? Director Michael Craig also gets screenwriting credit along with Leslie Black for a xxx film that actually uses the sexual situations to help advance this erotic tale to a conclusion that, although not totally satisfying, tops nearly every feature uncorked by today's major studios. Standard frame. No condoms. Few extras. 1 hour 24 minutes.

The film opens with Marshall demanding that a woman (Cassidy) have sex with him while Mary looks on. His controlling the woman excites Mary, who soon masturbates over the top of her clothing while Marshall leads his prey through some straight sex paces-including a terrific upright doggy with a cum shot dropped on her ass cheek.

Actually in her office, Mary closes a halfway-opened book and soon the author appears in her office. He asks if she's read the book and she responds that she's just getting started. A strange bit ensues as Marshall recognizes Mary's sexual arousal so he shoots some polaroids trying to capture Mary's facial expressions. He invites her to a party at his place the following night and departs.

That evening, Mary's husband Jim (Jon Dough) fixes them dinner and the duo are soon sucking and fucking with Mary's fantasies turning from thoughts of Marshall fucking the woman to thoughts of Marshall fucking her that just so happen to coincide with actions performed on or by her husband.

Later, in bed, Jim stirs as Mary takes a phone call from Marshall, who easily arouses Mary and gets her to play with her tits and finger her pussy. So ends Mary's erotic day.

The next day, the couple get ready for work and Mary puts on some sexy lingerie under work clothes, which had been a request from Marshall. Enroute to her job, Mary fantasizes about Marshall, who, later that evening, introduces her as his lawyer at the party. Along with the other party goers, the two watch as Marshall's performance artists (Nick East and Amber woods) suck and fuck among the crowd and conclude with an ass fucking bit that has Marshall whispering into Mary's ear "have you ever been fucked in the ass?"

Last to leave, Mary stops before exiting to follow Marshall over to a marble table top where Marshall seductively drips lemon (and other things) on Mary lying on her back atop the table. He gets Mary to call her hubby for another phone sex bit with the added bonus of a black dressed party goer named Victoria (Teri Driver) slipping out of her garb to suck Mary's pussy while Marshall looks on at the duo and Jim masturbates on the other end of the phone line. And so ends another erotically charged day.

The next morning, Jim tells Mary "I like the new you" but Mary is already anticipating her next encounter with Marshall; she fantasizes about him while anxiously awaiting his noontime phone call. Mary calls Jim to tell him she will be working late then arrives for a midnight rendezvous at Marshall's place. She's soon flat on her back on that same marble table top as Marshall blindfolds her then sucks and fucks her. In a state of ecstasy while fulfilling her fantasy, a writhing Mary cannot see the third party brought into the room but the viewer does. When his identity is finally revealed to Mary, it's rather weak (lame reaction shots) but there's more to this story-within-a-story.

Give Craig and Black credit for interweaving these phone sex encounters into interesting erotically and sexually charged encounters, however; the best thing about the SEDCUTION OF MARY is how Mary focuses so much so on the seductive writer Marshall that she becomes oblivious to the fact that he's merely using her as a pawn in his own sexual cat-and-mouse game that-in this case-may or may not have been the actual plot elements within his erotic novel.

Craig also gets ample support from xxx performer-turned-editor Eric Edwards and cinematographer Brett Webster, whose camera loves the busty blonde Victoria Paris, who appears in all of the sex scenes in one way or another. A major gripe is this gradual use of a pink light upon the sexual performers that might be there to match the color of Marshall's lenses and rimmed glasses? It's over-used and reminds one of this era of tedious pastel colors.

Even so, let's give THE SEDUCTION OF MARY (1992, VCX) a boost to !!!! 1/2 outta !!!!! as critics at the time of this couples release focused on some pretty trivial aspects of what's really a well-written and erotic suck and fuck flick.
