NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: As usual with most amateur productions, the technical aspects are on the weak side. The audio isn’t balanced that well and there are times it’s extremely hard to hear Rhonda during her interview. There’s also plenty of noises from the camera throughout the feature. The video is about the same. The lighting is barely acceptable and looks like it wasn’t even shot in a fully lit room. There’s a bit of grain and a fair amount of camera shake. Finally, here’s a small off-colored bar at the bottom of the screen.

Menus: The main menu has a generic and simple feel, but still gave me a good feeling going into this DVD. The main menu is completely unanimated and looks about like a typical chapter menu. The chapter menu is very plain, and lets you choose a place in the movie based on a still from each chapter.

The Feature

This is a below average scene that had the potential to be darn good. Rhonda’s cute and really seems to get into her masturbation with a lot of fun. Combining the gyno-cam shots with a lot of commentary and joking around from the guys hurt the scene even more, and left me happy that I had a remote. Rhonda appears to do a very good job here, but poor camera work and a couple guys who didn’t know how to shut up all but ruined it.

If all that isn’t enough, the scene runs around twenty minutes and I’m not sure if there’s two minutes of fucking. This is a horrible scene.

Rhonda’s Private Footage is a dismal amateur movie. It’s really too bad since Rhonda has a cute natural look and she seems like she enjoys sex. Unfortunately, it was like everything behind the camera was setting her up to fail. The two guys never seemed to realize that people pick up movies like this to watch the people in front of the camera in action, not for a horseshit commentary from a couple guys behind the camera. I know they might have been yapping to help Rhonda feel more comfortable, but I almost turned this one off a half hour in because of it. The camera work is just as bad, if not worse. I’m not sure that ten percent of the camera work shows any part of Rhonda more than a foot away from her pussy unless she’s sucking cock, and then I think it might drop down to about seventy five percent. The editing is also weak, and sometimes takes you from a five minute clip to a clip lasting under ten seconds to a clip lasting over ten minutes. It gives the movie a very odd and jerky feel, and was another thing that threw me out of it. Rhonda’s Private Footage is best left private.

Currently, HomeSexTapes.com DVDs can be found online for around $20. Rent this one first or buy it darn cheap. Rhonda gets into the sex okay but the camera work and commentary hold it back. The technical aspects are also a bit weak and there’s virtually no effort put into the extras. This is a pretty lackluster DVD.

Note to Hal Maroon Amateur Videos: There’s more to sex than just the penetration. Please learn how to show the girl enjoying herself. Also, find guys you know how to shut the hell up. If you have to yap through the action, put it on the DVD as an alternate audio track.
