What You Need to Know: POV Overdose 3 had the potential to be an utterly fantastic compilation release, but instead left me disappointed. Many years ago Mike John established himself as one of the kings of POV porn, defining the genre much the same way John Stagliano defined the gonzo genre years before. Here you ten scenes from some of Mike John's more recent releases, and there isn't a dud in the bunch. Mike John continually brings plenty of personality out of the girls, and his banter with them gives his POV scenes a feeling of personality and fun that definitely adds to the scenes rather than taking away from them. He starts things out very nicely with Avy Scott, and just plain doesn't slow down until Ava takes his nutty goodness all over her pretty face. Mike takes plenty of time checking out and playing with the girls, and there's a very nice mix of action and pops with some solid anal, facials, and cream pies. Sexually this is one heck of a great compilation!

The problem here is the presentation. Although eight of the ten movies these scenes came from were originally put out with an anamorphic widescreen presentation (Lela and Cody's scenes being the exception), this release goes the Mal-Wart route and presents all of the scenes in non-anamorphic widescreen (even though the main menus are in anamorphic widescreen), which just plain doesn't look as good. Yes, you're getting top notch POV scenes, and with a two DVD release I don't know of a technical reason why these scenes couldn't be presented in anamorphic widescreen. If they were all crammed onto a single DVD release, I could understand better, as I'm pretty sure (while readily admitting that I barely even have a layman's understanding of the technology and what it can do) they could all fit on one DVD and the lower video quality could be expected because of it. There's plenty of other companies who do it all the time and from what I've seen the video quality isn't that much different. Here I expected a lot more simply because whenever I see “Mike John Productions” across a label (or Jules Jordan Video, who distributes it for that matter) I go in with certain expectations and they're never near the average level. Make no mistake, POV Overdose 3 has some fantastic POV scenes that show just how much of a master Mike John is with the POV genre. Unfortunately this release was held back significantly for me due to a substandard video presentation that was a large disappointment knowing that a much better presentation should have been available for most of these scenes.

The Extras: The extras are lighter than what one normally expects from a Mike John release, but nothing unsual for a compilation release. You get a few trailers, a cast list, cumshot recaps, weblinks, and a photo gallery.

Final Thoughts: Releases like this show that compilations can be a great thing rather than just a quick and lazy money grab. This one's well worth the purchase.
