Porny Monster Review

Initial Expectations
I usually enjoy Burning Angel films, and was looking forward to checking out this one from a few years back.

The Plot
Essentially a remake of Party Monster (which I’ve never seen), the film stars Joanna Angel as an exaggerated version of herself, Chapel Waste as her wannabe lackey, and James Deen as Joanna’s drug-dealing boyfriend. Joanna is hilarious in her role, as is Deen, and I’m being honest when I say the film is worth watching for the non-sex scenes alone. DJ Tommy Pistol was awesome—I seriously couldn’t stop laughing.

Highlights include the opening café scene, where Chapel first approaches her superstar idol (loved the old man seated next to them, and the bitter employee behind the counter!), James’ bathroom drug-deal, DJ Tommy Pistol’s tireless promoting and turntable antics (glow sticks, silly string, etc.), and Joanna and Chapel’s topless dancing and pillow fight (with feel-good music blasting in the background).

The Sex
The first scene is a hot lesbian encounter at a club between Whisky and Pixie, who break the cardinal rule of having sex before midnight. Both women look great, and I liked the authentic feel. Next we have James and his partner banging buxom blond Jade Jolie in the bathroom, before Joanna and Chapel come in to give a sultry, sloppy BJ to a huge dick through a glory hole. A Japanese club goer (played by Lystra) fucks DJ Tommy behind the booth (to get him to turn the music off) in what is probably my favorite scene, before the film closes with Joanna and Chapel trying to outdo each other in a series of orgies: we have a foursome with Joanna, James, Chapel, and another dude, then James and Joanna having anal sex on the roof while Chapel takes on 3-4 guys at once, and finally a threesome with James, Chapel, and Joanna.

The DVD
Fantastic music, and some truly great shots of the City throughout (great to see my home in a porn DVD!). Lots of BTS and bonus features, a whole disc of it in fact. The camera work is great, but be aware that they don’t always get the perfect shot since the sex is being filmed in dark, cramped corners and in the night air.

Final Word
If you’re just looking to bust a nut, then Porny Monster probably isn’t for you. Get some straight-forward, old-fashioned fucking DVD instead. If, however, you’re in the mood for some creativity, humor, and plot, then you won’t be disappointed. While I'm not really into Chapel's look, the acting is nothing short of phenomenal, and makes the sex all the more meaningful. My wife and I watched this one together, and she loved it. Definitely a good film for couples, and for New Yorkers—I hope Burning Angel keeps using the city for their future releases.
