The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good. The audio is clear and well balanced for the most part, but there is a bit that gets a little hollow. There are also a couple of very minor background noises. The video is pretty good. It’s nicely lit, but does have a little grain. There’s a little camera motion to go along with it, and you get to see the crew peek into the edge at one point.

Music: None

False Advertising: Although the feature lasts 69 min., the cover states Feature Length 80 min.. As this is a difference of nearly 15% I’m deducting a half point from the overall score.

Menus: The main menu is pretty good, and blends a bit of animation with the cover still. The chapter menu is also nicely done, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the girls in the scene.

The Feature

Nina starts things out on the couch with Kylie Ireland. Both ladies look fantastic in their fetishwear, and start out with a quick introduction to a sophisticated form of sex play. They talk about the growing popularity of double penetration sex, setting up a double penetration, and logistics. They also cover trust issues, jealousies, and creating the right atmosphere. There’s also a little discussion on the planning of double penetration sex before they move on with an anatomy lesson. Kylie lies back and lets Nina discuss anatomy and the difference between a reality DP and a porn movie DP. Afterwards, there’s two different demonstrations, one with Nina and one with Nikita Denise.

Scene 1 - Nina Hartley, Randy Spears, and Mario Rossi

Nina starts out the first scene introducing Randy and Mario and giving a quick recap of what they’ve done as well as why she picked these guys. This is a pretty hot scene with a few minor problems. The sex is very hot. Nina and the guys have great chemistry and everybody in the scene looks like they’re having a great time. They keep things moving nicely, and there’s some nice vocals and communication. My problem with the scene is in some of the little details. Having Mario wear a condom for only part of the scene really stood out, and Randy not wearing one at all stood out just as much if not more. My other problem was Randy fucking Nina’s ass and then being on the bottom in her pussy for the double penetration. Granted, Nina and Kylie did talk about the difference between porno sex and real sex before the scene, but I think that when she does movies like this, Nina should practice what she preaches with the guy who fucks her ass not getting to go back in her pussy. Is the sex hot here? Yes. Is it a great demonstration of what Nina and Kylie talked about before the scene? Not quite, and that’s what holds this scene back to being a good scene rather than making it to being a great scene.

Scene 2 - Nikita Denise, Chris Cannon, and Evan Stone

Chris and Evan start out the second scene talking about how they don’t want them joining up on the same girl to ruin their friendship. They kiss a little before Nikita drops down to suck Chris’s cock. This is an above average scene. The chemistry here isn’t quite as strong as in Nina’s scene, but at the same time I liked the setup for the scene quite a bit. The sex seemed a bit too back and forth here, and the double penetration seemed extremely short. There wasn’t anything really bad about this scene, but there wasn’t anything that really got my attention about the scene other than a nicely done setup.

Nina Hartley’s Guide to Double Penetration is a pretty good instructional movie. Nina and Kylie team up very nicely for the instructional portion, and Nikita Denise and the guys help to make the demonstration portion of the movie almost as worthwhile. The movie’s strength is easily Nina’s ease with both talking about the subject as well as showing it off. The entire cast seems very comfortable with each other, and all look like they’re having a good time. My main problem with the movie is that the demonstrations don’t always line up that well with the instruction. Although Nina talks about safe sex, she doesn’t have her partners use condoms the entire time and she also doesn’t restrict Randy to her ass once he taps it. The sex also felt a little restricted, especially since Nina and Nikita did the same position and Nikita’s double penetration only lasted a couple minutes. Nina Hartley’s Guide to Double Penetrations is a good idea that gives some good pointers, but with a few very minor changes it seems like it could have been even better.

The Extra Stuff

The interview with Nina Hartley lasts thirteen and a half minutes with Ernest Greene asking Nina questions from behind the camera. Nina talks about why a DP instructional movie, the progression towards double penetrations, and the changing social settings that make double penetration sex much easier. She also talks about the pride a highly sexual woman should have in herself, the things a woman who wants to try double penetrations should know or do, and her first double penetration. This is a pretty good interview. Nina is quick to answer the questions and seems more than comfortable talking about the subject. Unfortunately, the audio balance is fairly poor, with Ernest sounding like he’s at the other end of a basketball court trying to ask the questions. I found myself adjusting the volume several times trying to hear what he was saying, and even with the audio turned up it was very hard to understand him. With a little better audio quality this would have been a fantastic interview.

Bonus Scene - Aria, Ana Nova Stephanie Tripp, Joel Lawrence, and Eric Masterson

The bonus scene comes from The Panty Drawer. Stephanie, Anna, and Aria walk up and down a runway showing off some bra and panty sets before Anna and Stephanie move into the crowd to give Eric a little more personal show. At the very least having Stephanie take a little dick would have really helped things out. Still, it gives the scene a dirty couple feel that’s okay too. This is a hot scene with some nice chemistry and plenty of tease.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Nina Hartley’s educational DVDs can be found online for between about $8 and $25 with several stores offering them for around $15. If you’re thinking about trying a double penetration, you can do a lot of things dumber than picking up this movie. Nina gives a nice primer to double penetrations, and talks and shows off some ‘techniques’ as well as discussing factors that many might not think about. The technical aspects are okay, and although there are some good extras they also seem like they could be a little better. This is a pretty good DVD, but there were some very noticeable ways that it could have been made better without much effort.

Note to Adam & Eve: It seems quite quizzical that you’d include the behind the scenes featurette which included a bit of the making of this movie on Nina Hartley’s Guide to Spanking but not here...
