Initial Expectations: I’ve been very impressed with the My Plaything series, but Gauge has frequently left me cold. I’ve heard good things about this DVD, so I’m hoping this might change my mind about her.

Initial Reaction: It’s a must have for anybody who’s already a fan of Gauge or just curious about the hype.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of virtual sex, younger girls, and trailer trash

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants to fantasize about a woman who looks more like a woman than somebody that’ll get you thrown in jail

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is very clear and nicely done. I didn’t notice any background noises, and Gauge’s voice was kept at a fairly even level. The video isn’t quite as good. It’s slightly grainy and there’s a small colored bar along a couple of the edges. The sex selections appear slightly pixelized, and even the writing on the icons aren’t too clear. The Feature: Quite a while ago, I ended up discussing the difference between “cute” and “beautiful” with a few friends. It was quite a while ago, but it no doubt happened late at night and over a few beers. We finally came to the conclusion that the dividing line was at the neck. “Cute” was from the neck up, and “beautiful” was from the neck down, since there were very few girls who satisfied both (although they do exist). That said, Gauge is un-be-fucking-lievably beautiful, and can be very cute when she wants to. She has a nice tight young body that’s all natural and is probably dreamed about in many stained sheets each night. Unfortunately, in all but a couple scenes that I’ve watched, she’s always come off as nothing but trailer trash to me. Her face is much of the problem for me. In stills it’s almost always very cute, but she has a kind of crooked smile and glazed look in her eye that always seemed to say something like “Sure I’ll take on Ed Powers and Ron Jeremy at the same time just as long as you give me what’s left of that bag of pork rinds and that jug of Jethro’s moonshine”. Despite this, Gauge seems to have a huge following, which makes her a great choice for the My Plaything series.

The My Plaything experience is divided into several different areas so you can get just what you’re looking for. In Tease, you can have Gauge tease you with her tits, ass, or pussy as she’s dressed in a small schoolgirl outfit. Each segment lasts about two minutes, and Gauge plays it as both naught and nice extremely well.

Masturbation gives you the choice between Gauge’s fingers, two different vibes, and a dildo as she lays on a bed, a place few pornstars seem to know how to have sex on. The segments last a little longer here, and sometimes go a little past three minutes. Gauge doesn’t restrict herself to only one of her holes here, and each segment has its own orgasm sequence.

Do You / Do Me lets you move onto foreplay using fingers, an egg shaped vibrator on a wand, your tongue, or by getting a blowjob with Gauge in her cheerleader outfit. All except the tongue option goes pretty good here and last around two minutes each. The tongue one is a good idea, but the camera moves around so much in the main angle that it started to make me a little nauseous. Although I don’t know of it happening to anybody, but I’m sure it’s a fetish for somebody out there, I’ve never thought of throwing up as an important part of sex. The blowjob is nicely done, but I would have liked a little closer angle rather than seeing the guy’s gut spreading across the bottom quarter of the screen. One of the blowjob pops also appears that it might have been faked.

Finally, there’s Sex, which allows you six different choices. You can poke Gauge in missionary, doggie, or cowgirl and in either of her holes. Once again, each sequence has its own cumshot, which is something new for the My Plaything series as I recall. It’s nice to see the cumshot continuing as part of the main scene, but unfortunately a computer generated pop is used, which has the advantage of being much easier to clear up and not staining. The naughty and nice sequences aren’t as easy to tell apart here

My Plaything: Gauge is done extremely well. I readily admit to not being one of her legion of fans, yet I was very impressed with the job she did here. The entire DVD does a very good job of playing to her strengths rather than the aspects about her that make me wonder if she lost her virginity at a family reunion. Most importantly, and the thing I think makes this stand out above all the other virtual sex simulators I’ve seen, is that it’s solved some of the looping problem. In the other virtual sex simulators I’ve watched, it was always obvious when you came to the end of a loop. You’d frequently go from a completely naked girl screaming away to a partially dressed girl who’s just getting warmed up. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that something seems a little off, but Digital Sin has made My Plaything; Gauge so that you return to the middle of the loop rather than the beginning, which makes the scene seem to go on forever. The angles are also very nicely done, and give a nice choice between watching it as if you’re actually working Gauge over, and watching it extremely close from the side. The feature isn’t quite perfect, however, and does have a couple minor problems. During the sex part, the cumshots are computer generated, and extremely noticeable as such because there’s nothing left behind and the camera lingers on Gauge’s body for a few seconds afterwards. Also, I started to get a little motion sickness while watching the tongue portion of the foreplay section, which is never a good thing to happen. Gauge can get a little annoying at times while watching the feature, but this is a very personal complaint and I’m sure many of her fans won’t be at all annoyed. If you’re looking for a virtual sex simulator, or are a fan of Gauge, you really need to check out this feature.

Extras: If the main feature isn’t enough, there are two bonus plays, both of which still have two angles to watch but not the high level of control the main sex feature has. The segments range from about thirty seconds to well over a couple minutes. In Sybian you get to control the Sybian as Gauge rides. I don’t have the technology to test it, but it appears that there’s a pleasure center interface that allows you to hook up a vibrator for an even deeper experience with this extra. In Massage you get to feel up Gauge. You can choose to work over her tits, ass, and feet while Gauge spouts off with lines about how you do it so good she could fall in love with you. I couldn’t help but start laughing through most of it. The lines made much of it seem like it was really aimed at stalkers everywhere. Once again, I don’t have the technology to try this, but it appears there’s a Hands On virtual touch interface available with this section to once again give you more than the standard adult viewing experience. There’s both great extras for fans of virtual sex, and part of what makes the My Plaything series one of the best virtual sex series around.

The blooper reel lasts about two and a half minutes. There’s a bit of fun stuff with Gauge, but most of it confirmed some of the thoughts I already had of her. She seemed kind of temperamental and full of herself. Once again, I was left with the view of Gauge as just another piece of trailer trash.

Fans of shaving will be pleased to see how Gauge shaves her pussy. The Shaving featurette gives you about a minute of Gauge taking a shower and cleaning herself up. It’s a quick little featurette that’s edited down pretty well, but one that I’m sure many fans will enjoy.

Gauge also gives a striptease for each of her outfits, starting out as a cheerleader. She strips out of her outfit and then plays around a bit on the bench with some of the sports equipment. The next tease places Gauge in a bedroom wearing a tank top and panties before finishing up in her schoolgirl outfit. They’re all nice little teases, lasting about ten minutes total, and Gauge plays each of them very well.

Finally, trailers are included for My Plaything: Jenna Jameson, My Plaything: Stacy Valentine, My Plaything: Tera Patrick, Intimate Expressions, North Pole 15, Naughty College School girls 10, 4 Finger Club 8, and She Squirts 3. Overall: Currently, My Plaything: Gauge can be found online for between $20 and $30 with a few stores offering it for under $25. If you’re a fan of Gauge or virtual sex simulators, this is a must buy. The simulator is the best I’ve seen so far, and the extras fill the DVD out extremely well. The biggest problem is the transfer, since the picture is a little grainy.

Note to Digital Sin: Great job here. I have to admit that I was very tempted to give this a perfect “5" overall, but due to the picture I couldn’t bring myself to do so. I also withheld since I didn’t really know whether I was watching “naughty” or “nice” through much of the sex portion. With the advances you’re making in virtual sex titles, I can’t wait to see how far you go in another year!
